Volkswagen Crossgolf is trying to represent something more than it really is. The catch is in the name ...
Many, including the Volkswagen concern itself, believe that the story with the model under the name Golf has long been controlled. And she is not yet visible to the end-root. There, the sixth of the most careful of all generations has already been launched into production. Or rather, not even so. The once total and unconditional success of Golf made him treat him as something special, especially valuable. As, for example, large parents cannot get enough of one of their children if only from all brothers and sisters he studies on five and knows, scary to say, notes. It is clear that the felt -tip pens, new sneakers and a winter coat such a child will always receive the first. And there, you see, there will be someone to pat for the child prodigy and at the university, at the selection committee. Grandmother will cease the kingdom of heaven, odnushka in Bibirev on the ground floor will not be departed to the elder, the baldbes and the trio, but to him, his pet. After all, the pride and hope of the family. So Golf: in the concern of his breadwinner, they love and take care. At the beginning of European sales of the fifth generation of the model, a little shock arose. It didn’t go, the townsfolk at first quite rightly refused to buy an excessively expensive car for their dimensions and capabilities. But then it seemed to go as usual. The people realized that Golf is still the best in the classroom, and the rest of the manufacturers, pulling up their models to it at the cost, until they show out what any generation of Golf allowed him to remain the most popular car in the primary and secondary automotive market of Europe.
In short, by a certain moment I had a constant commercial success of the hatchback learned to manipulate its creators, forcing them to be less at the sides and fantasize exclusively within the framework of the trend that has formed. Golf should not be different until it is bought as it is. And point. And now, being in rather constrained creative circumstances, the guys from Volkswagen are trying to get all the dividends due to them for the Golf model. So, the appearance in 2005 Golfplus models can be considered quite logical and justified, since in Europe they decided that Mikrovans are good. Golfplus is based on a slightly modernized platform of the Volkswagen Golf model of the fifth generation, and the car itself is a slightly larger VW Golf. It is 9.5 cm above the source, a little wider and more spacious by dozens of liters. The body design has also changed. But the main difference between Golfplus, as you know, is in the component of the cabin. It is much more spacious than in Golf.
Remembering the press releases of three years ago, we were forced by the appearance of another similar car in Russian car dealerships. The engineers seemed few, and they increased the construction of Golfplus more: 2.3 cm in length, 1.6 cm in width and 3.1 cm in height. The road clearance became more for 2 cm and, probably, therefore, they decided to call the car Crossgolf. Mikroveng of increased cross -country ability came out. And it was increased exclusively due to this additional 2 cm of clearance. No more. A special styling package is also responsible for the console of CROSS, which includes tricolor bumpers with additional anthracite overlays, roof religions and a lifted skirt of wheel arches. A slightly high landing behind the wheel, high windshield and ceiling like in the Stalinist high -rise, adds a little to imaginary off. The legs for the legs are really a lot both in front and behind. At the same time, the rear passengers have the opportunity to increase the site for their lower extremities, moving back another ten centimeters.
By the number of internal beneficial cavities, Crossgolf resembles a grandmother's chest of drawers from the heyday of the career of Lazar Kaganovich. They are around, and hide compromising evidence in the form of cigarettes, CDs, glasses, documents, cash receipts and mobile phones almost everywhere, including the ceiling. There is a box under the seat, to the left of the steering column, vast pockets in the doorway. The folding tables on the back of the front seats is a vulgar thing, but extremely (according to their own experience) convenient in the event of small, and not only children in the family. And a pair of hockey krag or a four -liter jar with glass -toe will easily enter the glove box located inside the armrest of the rear seats. Or maybe both ... in a word, the car came out extremely comfortable and friendly inside. Except that car interior easily transforms, providing maximum space. The volume of the transformed Crossgolf salon reaches 1450 liters, while the maximum load capacity is 600 kg. But this is so, by the way. It is traditionally difficult to make claims to ergonomics. This, for a second, is still Golf. Yes, these devices are visually boring and not too numerous at first glance, but on these devices, in fact, the entire world auto industry is checked. So there will be and it will be, otherwise chaos will win, and there are no need to eat some French examples for examples. Cozy, hospitable seats and everything else that makes the car closer to its owner. Surely, a USB-sheer in the armrest, to which you can connect not only the MP3 player, but also the mobile phone to answer on it using the button on the steering wheel will be useful. There will be no extra outlet by 220 V (from where so much!?). And the second bottom in the trunk can be used as a conspiratorial capacity.
That this is not a supercar, it becomes clear at the first touch from the place. Under the hood, there is not a feature from what cars are usually called steep. So the test promises to become measured and boring. Crossgolf comes to our Russia in only two trim levels to the 1.6 liter motor (102 hp) is offered to choose a 6-speed mechanical or 6-band automatic box Tiptronic. We got an automatic machine. Crossgolf does not have, despite the ambitious name, and all -wheel drive. Everyone, of course, recall the handsome Golf Country from the 80s of the last century, but between these machines there is an ideological abyss, which is separated by a full-wheel drive and a magnificent gate with a full-fledged spare wheel behind Golf Country. Alas, marketers can now afford the substitution of concepts without a twinge of conscience.
With a closer acquaintance, Crossgolf turned out to be quite simple and pleasant in many respects with a solid car. If he cut off his unnecessary all -terrain ambitions, this is really convenient and moderately universal city Mikroven, who knows how to move very smoothly along the streets, on which high -quality asphalt is laid. The machine is good is extremely good, but its place is more likely on Volks- wagen Tiguan. Crossgolf does not like sharp accelerations. He responds to the blow to the accelerator pedal with a whitish roar and vanity in the transmission area, but, alas, not instant acceleration. The manual mode of the gearbox, oddly enough, does not save from hypodynamia. Even the S mode does not include a special desire, since this does not really change from this, except for the additional engine noise. Hence the conclusion: guys, in this machine everything is almost perfect, with the exception of the engine. Its capabilities are not enough in the city and on the highway, where you have to use kikdown for any harmless overtaking. The box, being well trained, throws down two gears down, the motor howls like a dog Baskerville over the Greenpensky quagmire, and fuel consumption goes off scale ...
In general, traffic along the highway with decent speed struggle. But among positive points, automatic transmission can be noted. In measured smooth modes, she tries to stay in the maximum VI gear at any stable speed. And if you do not drive the car, then the engine turns exactly at 18002,000 rpm, decently saving. Yes, and to the controllability of Crossgolf, in fact, no complaints. Excellent, adapting to the conditions of movement, the steering wheel is extremely easy in the parking lot and is quite heavy at speed. On a straight clear zero and not a single hint of nervousness. And the car slows down just great. Honestly, it was not entirely clear in the conditions of the presence of 17-inch wheels with low-profile rubber. Excessive rolls and graves, clear, do not have to expect from this car, but in general, on the Moscow streets, the Crossgolf suspension showed itself somewhat harsh and too uncompromising. They love this more in Europe, where they have long understood that it is impossible to hack during construction. Perhaps, under certain conditions, when you need to go to the limit on poor coating, the suspension can be called energy-intensive and elastic, but when the child and pregnant wife are in the car, for some reason I want to neglect this energy intensity. There is not enough impressiveness. If we talk about extreme modes, then Golf remains himself. The predictable and easily controlled skid is only pleasure, the indirect intervention of the electronic adjustor extends. In sliding is reliable, without delayed the steering wheel and supply of fuel. Presumably, good handling is provided with a completely independent rear multi -link suspension, but before this was only on all -wheel drive versions ...
In a word, we have a solid car, which has become a victim of certain marketing experiments. Among the minuses are not the most suitable engine and unreasonable claims to increased off -road qualities. There are more pluses: extreme coziness inside, excellent appearance, versatility, as well as a good machine gun and 17-inch steep wheels. And the price ... with the price in the Golf family there have always been problems. A version with a 5-speed manual gearbox costs from 705139 rubles, with an automaton more expensive from 76,6059 rubles. Although now, you know, everything can change ...
