This fall, the VAZ 2120 went on the road - the first domestic mini-Ven (SMS, 1999, No. 7). Let's try to compare it with another domestic novelty of the same class Barguzin - GAZ 2217-104 in seven-weems. Of course, the last to mini-Venam can be attributed to the stretch: after all, it is a full-fledged minibus, even with a low roof. But for the consumer, the difference between them is small: both machines can be controlled, having a driver's license category V.

So, her name is hope. Own names sound better than boring alphanumeric indices, and the future is undoubtedly behind them (by the way, even specialists are confused in the factory models).
 
Externally, Hope is a little reminded by a mirror-friendly mirror in the curve, Nissan Serena, just say, not the most stylish mini-Ven. Rounded sidewalls with a single submarine, devoid of all the dynamics Silhouette, narrow, deeply recessed in the wheel niches - yes, the profile is not very ... and the FAS drove - two differentlyber headlights in the body painted in the color of the body makes the front of the car, like Neanderthal in glasses. Nevertheless, if the usual sable with a high roof seems to be a chest, then Barguzin is almost proportional.
 
And yet the cars of the vase and gas are better to consider published - close to too well noticeably low quality and inaccurate docking of plastic parts of the body. But if a matte gray plastic Barguzin successfully hides defects, then painted bumpers and the lattice of hope give themselves with their heads.

And this is true: there is no need to argue about appearance when the main advantage of these machines is a spacious salon. Of course, it is impossible to directly compare them - Barguzin is significantly more hope of dimensions, especially height and width. But both cars must meet the stated indicators - to provide six passengers (not counting the driver) sufficient space for a comfortable trip to long distances.
 
By passenger complex Barguzin ahead. Despite the small length, GAZ 2217 is quite capable of transporting both ten: its internal width easily allows you to install four chairs in a row. However, for greater comfort - Barguzin is somehow a luxury version of a sable - there are larger seats with armrests, and only three are fitted in a row. Unlike the standard layout for mini-WaNov (seats for each other), in the barguing organized coupe - two chairs are backwards, and there is a small folding table between them, alas, quite talkative on the go. Instead of a standard double seat on the right of the driver placed single with folding armrests. In any place, a person is easily located even the most impressive complex, moreover, the driver is height below 170 cm to manage this machine will be simply inconvenient.
 
But with the transformation of the salon - the trouble. The only possible layout is laid by the manufacturer. Change it by moving the seats, it is impossible - they are tightly brought to the floor. The partition half the height of the main salon separates it from the driver's compartment - you can only go to the salon from the front seats, although there is enough space to make the passage. But in any situation, an impressive trunk remains, the advantages of which is not capable of eclipse even lying on the floor, a full-fledged spareside size 215/65R16.
 
In the hope of the place is much less, and to get on the third row of seats, it is necessary to put the back of the right chair in the middle row, to move it forward, and since the doorway is low, also to develop himself. The middle row of the chairs moves forward-back about 120 mm, but the person even medium growth will not be able to use it in the front position: there is just no one's legs. Moreover, the extreme passengers lacking and places for the head - with a modest growth of 175 cm already have to sign the ceiling. With a middle side of the seats, everything becomes in its place - even space above the head is enough, that's just between the back of the middle and the rear seat cushion and the fist will not pass. What to talk about passenger. In other words, at seven chairs, hope is still a car, if you do not resort to something like layout 2 + 5, almost having lost the trunk.
 
Surely designers mistaken? This will not make even a two-year student. Most likely, the lounge was very tight in the drawings, and in real life, the tolerances were formed, as they say, not to the other side. However, those who are going to buy a car, it is not interesting.
 
The real transformability of the salon also turned out to be lower than the calculated one, but for another reason. By repeating the middle row in the rear position a couple of times, it was not possible to return it in any force nor cunning. The lock mechanism seems to die. The fate of the rear door lock was also the fate of the rear door - after checking the body's rigidity (a single race with a rear wheel on the elevation of 200 mm), he refused to obey and demanded the participation of two testes: one pulled out for the lever, and the second pressed the door in the area of \u200b\u200bthe castle, compensating for the emerging skewer. For the sake of justice, we note that there are no complaints to the front and sliding side doors.
 
As it turned out, the driver's seat is also not without sin. Too high landing significantly limited not only an instrument review. Hey, Barguzin, Stir the shaft!
It's time to go to the road impressions. Both applicants are not shaking with dynamics, although at maximum speed very close and honestly posted 130 km / h in the fourth gear. In acceleration up to 100 km / h, hope is noticeable (by 3.4 s) ahead of Barguzin, although it was not felt. But according to elasticity, the 2.3-liter ZMZ-406.10 exceeds VAZ 21213, and it is very thorough: a set of speed from 80 to 120 km / h on the fifth gear from the Gazovskaya machine at 15 (!) Seconds faster. Heavy Barguzin turned out to be better running out, but on the brake qualities, Hope was ahead: from 80 km / h, its braking path was 5, and from 100 km / h - by 8.5 m in short, than a competitor.
 
Riding on the mountain road revealed enviable resistance GAZ 2217. Wide tires, an impressive track and a rather low center of gravity allowed to confidently take turns at high speed. The behavior of the car was quite acceptable: rolls are small, although an insensible and inaccurate steering wheel with a hydraulicer and a strong routing pretty prevent the driver. VAZ 2120, who at our request dealer crashes in Yugoslav tires She trayed 175 / 80R16 (equipped with initially diagonal VLI-5, Mini-Ven did not have the slightest chances on asphalt), on the contrary, did not show high speeds, and all provocations responded to a strong demolition of the front axle. But the hydraulicel from the German ZF did not give up, not at all affecting the feeling of the steering wheel.
 
Comfort - the topic is special. On small irregularities, both cars behaved almost exemplary. Larger hopes perceived too hard, and Barguzin, easily swallowing their front suspension, was taken desperately to goat after drived by rear wheels. The seven-step machine clearly needs softer springs than a van at 800 kg of cargo.
 
The noise portrait of competitors was fundamentally different. In the hope of the deputy box and noise of tires, in Barguzin, the almost obscene sound of the exhaust system, especially increasing in the title range of 2200-2600 rpm, but only on the complete throttle, is particularly obscene.

Both cars will not give reason to miss their potential owners. In anyone there were small, but unpleasant surprises. In Barguzin, the difficult inclusion of the first transmission, the scrolling bearing and a small leakage of coolant from the heater was alarmed. In the hope of the stove did not work at all. The head of the bolt, attracting the pallet with the wheel to the floor, was so close to the middle body rack, that it was simply impossible to unscrew it with a regular balloon key.
Who is more valuable?
It rarely have to deal with such a lush bouquet of flaws on one car. VAZ 2120 is a sad example. No, we are well heard about the quality of the assembly, but the number of constructive flaws exceeds all possible limits. A drop that overflowed the patience bowl turned out to be a turning radius. To turn 180 degrees to one reception, hope we need a driving part of 14.3 m wide (!) against 10.6 m with a much larger barguzin. The value of VAZ 2120 more corresponds to a delivered van with a 3.5-meter base than a passenger car. So, to climb the multi-tier garage ramp on it only, turning on each floor in three receptions. By the way, the VAZ-2130 (five-door Niva) with the same wheeled base is spinning where assessed.
For 169,400 rubles, GAZ 2217-104 Barguzin can be purchased with a comfortable and well-trimmed interior on seven and acceptable driving qualities on the roads with solid coating. Formally, the seven-seater VAZ 2120 costs 190 thousand rubles, but really provides only five comfortably. Its main advantage is higher passability on dirt roads. However, much cheaper VAZ-2130 copes with it no worse.
 
 
SUMMARY
With all the obvious advantages and disadvantages of Barguzin - a real-life serial machine with the quality of assembly familiar to Russia. Nadezhda, in its current performance, is more like an experienced sample, located in the finish stage. Dealers have to take heroic efforts so that at least little to bring it to the requirements of buyers.
