Toyota Kamri of the new generation replaces the predecessor produced in Japan and the USA since 1996. Official dealers offer Kamri in Russia only Japanese assembly in three configuration options: with a four-cylinder engine 2.4 liters with a mechanical five-speed or automatic four-speed gearbox and a 3.0 liter V-shaped six.

Toyota Kamri has been a bestseller in the United States for several years and has every chance to stay further. Why do Camrei love so much in America? After all, there are cars with much more outstanding characteristics, bright appearance and an attractive price. The answer is simple: Toyota has a reputation as a reliable car with an optimal price-quality ratio. Absolute indicators have nothing to do with it - Toyota Kamri exactly the alloy of comfort, running qualities and cost that arranges an average American. In Europe, on the contrary, these cars are rare.
On Moscow streets, finding the former Toyota-Kamri is also not easy. The second-Hand is more common to another generation older. The previous Toyota Kamri was expensive for his class: the main competitor - Nissan Maxim cost the buyer much cheaper. Now prices are almost equal.
The updated Kamri, of course, looks like the predecessor, although this, without any reservations, is a new model. Graceful slanting headlights that continue the theme of a false radiator grille and narrow fog in the bumper, a strict silhouette without far -fetched excesses. The only angle in which it is difficult to find out the car is behind. The new feed simultaneously resembles both Hyunde-Monathe and Mercedes
S-class, and Lexus. From long thoughts, only the emblem leads: two ovals inscribed in the third. However, we do not want to say that in the perspective of three quarters behind Kamri will cause negative emotions.
 
Four or six?
 
When it comes to the highest middle class, still called a business class (or, in European, e), the concept of prestige ceases to be just a word. The dimensions of Toyota allow it to share a niche with popular Germans: Mercedes E-Class, BMW series 5, Audi A6. In such a company, without six under the hood, it will appear indecent. On the other hand, a democratic Volkswagen Passat is running out, not inferior to the size of the cabin, but, as a rule, with more modest engines and favorable prices.
That is why we decided to compare both Toyota: one with a 2.4 -liter four and a mechanical box, and the other with a six and automatic. The difference in the price of cars is an impressive $ 9,000.
The base costs $ 26 900. Moreover, the word base is not accidentally taken into quotation marks. The car is packed thoroughly: from the ABS brakes with the device to accelerate the reaction to the climatic installation, the rain sensor for the wiper, heating seats and radio with a CD player. Electric drives of locks, glasses and mirrors - of course, as, however, the front panel for wood. The six -cylinder Camri also has a leather upholstery and inserts in the doors, electric seats and stabilization system.

Naturally, he is spacious. In the back seat, a passenger fits two meters tall without any problems. But when landing, he will still have to bend more than he would like, - forces a beveled doorway. Three will be completely swayed from behind, especially since each is laid a full -fledged inertial belt and headrest. There are no restrictions on the front seats at all, except for basketball centr.
The comfort of the soft seats Kamri is strikingly different from the verified to the millimeter, but the stone-fed lodges of German cars, but there is almost nothing to complain about. Unless the pillows are short for tall drivers. But the backs without unnecessary bells and whistles easily adapt to the owners of jackets from 46th to 58th size.
The driver’s place does not require addiction, although, probably, a person with a non -standard figure will want to adjust the steering column not only in the corner of inclination, but also in length.
The trunk seems shallow, but this is not so. It’s just its length and width is slightly more familiar: reaching a bag lying in the depths is not at all easy. But you can still fold the seats.
 
WHO CARES?
By tradition, it is better to start acquaintance with a weaker engine. Is a large Toyota four -cylinder engine enough? Undoubtedly. Despite the slightly stretched gears, the engine is almost lucky with idle speeds. Above 2000 rpm, an even powerful acceleration follows, the intensity of which is smoothly increasing with an increase in speed. But even with 6000 rpm, the sound of the engine remains even and unobtrusive. Below 3500 it is almost not heard. And if you remind you that in the third program you can go both 20 and 140 km/h, then the usefulness of the tachometer is obvious.
This power unit has another dignity - good economy. On the highway it is not difficult to meet 7.5 l/100 km, and in the city to use no more than 11. The almost silent and tracted motor complements the equally impeccable sound insulation. In any speed range, Kamri passengers can have a secular conversation without raising their voice. The climatic installation, even working at full power, does not sound louder than a whisper. The suspension is equally silent - rude irregularities do not disturb either hearing or sciatic. Against the background of the predecessor, Kamri became slightly tougher, but this almost did not affect comfort.
Maybe the handling has changed? Yes, moreover, for the better. Of course, Kamri is not a sports car, but her reactions are quite fast and accurate even with very active driving. A light steering wheel not only filters vibrations well from the irregularities of the road, but also has a completely intelligible feedback.
Now move to a more powerful Camreid. Yes, this car breaks away from the place significantly faster, and the gearbox is in charge of the lowered reduced at a short time, but by no means to the floor, pressing the pedal. It seems that the engine seems to be heard at all: the answer to the pressing of the accelerator is a throw of the tachometer arrow to the red zone and a tangible push into the lower back. Six -cylinder camrie shoes in 16 -inch wheels (in four -cylinder - 15 inches) with low -profile tires. The suspension is noticeably tougher, although still in a comfortable area. In a word, this option is a little sharper and more sports. A pair of cylinders and a hydrotransformer noticeably increased appetite - on an average of 9.5 l/100 km on an average of 9.5 l/100 km on a suburban road, and in the city all 15. The brakes are quite matching the motor, but it is difficult to trust them from habit - the force is almost not growing with the course pedals.
 
From the inside
How to check the quality of the suit? View from the inside - a real master will not allow hacks anywhere. In the same way with cars - almost everything learned to paint and combine body panels flawlessly, but looking at the car from below, you can immediately determine which caste it belongs to. The quality of welds, the amount of sealant, anti -corrosion processing distinguish leaders. From below, Kamri looks quite worthy, although the savings are still noticeable - there is no muddy casing of a motor compartment, but there are completely incomprehensible patterns applied by an inconsistent sealant where there can be no sutures or holes.
After conferring, we came to the conclusion that in this way they fight noise and vibrations on Toyota, shifting resonant frequencies of panels. Interesting: if the lean owner of a new machine decides to additional anti -corrosion processing, will he thereby violate acoustic harmony?
 
Choice without a choice?
The traditions of oriental hospitality are well known, as well as the ability of Toyota to make good machines. Kamri offers excellent comfort at a reasonable price. It even seems that this car knows not only obvious, but also the secret wishes of its future owner. And, not at all embarrassed, tells him about it. Will everyone be able to admit that all his questions already have an answer?
Even with the impeccable quality of the assembly and refinement of Toyota, there is still something to learn from prestigious European brands. The buyer must make a choice, and not make a ready -made, even optimal decision for him. After all, there are only four flowers for the new Camry: silver, golden, green and black. Or do you want blue?
 

Moderate price, excellent set of standard equipment, spacious comfortable interior, good stability, low fuel consumption (for a four -cylinder motor), a comfortable suspension.
Lack of minimal basic modification, small color scheme, a minimum of individual equipment.
