Subaru was a new BRZ sports car and the sports version of the Forester TS crossover. The presentation took place on the famous Riga racing highway of the bourgeois.

Subaru BRZ was developed jointly to Toyota and Subaru. Toyota was responsible for the design and the general concept, and Subaru dealt with all engineering issues and the organization of production. The benefit of such cooperation is obvious: for the first time in recent years, a real sports car appeared in the Toyota lineup, and Subaru got the opportunity to save on the development of a new machine.

By and large, Toyota GT86 and Subaru Brz cars differ only in suspension settings. On Toyota, a mechanical or automatic transmission is installed, and only a mechanical gearbox on Subaru.

Subaru Brz concept pure pleasure from control. The machine was built in accordance with the traditions of classic sports cars of the 60s of the last century rear-wheel drive, a light body, a powerful engine. Actually, the abbreviation of the BRZ is composed of the first letters of the phones Boxer Engine (horizontal-opposition motor), Rear-Wheel Drive (rear-wheel drive) and Zenith (symbolizes the pleasure of control).
Under the hood of the sports car, a traditional horizontal-optical 4-cylinder 2-liter engine with 200 hp is installed for Subaru. It was on Subaru BRZ that the main advantages of the opposition engine were fully realized by small weight and compact dimensions. The motor was able to place the front axle, as a result, the car is almost perfect: 53% of the weight falls on the front axle, and 47 on the rear. The center of gravity of the machine is very low, only 410 mm above the road. All this together provides excellent handling models.

The power of the power unit Subaru BRZ is not so great for the sports car. In any case, there are several hot hatchbacks with more powerful motors. But BRZ is very light, weighs about 1200 kg, so the dynamics are quite decent. The main thing is not to lower the tachometer arrow below 30004000 rpm. So, due to the low weight and good aerodynamics (aerodynamic resistance coefficient of 0.27), fuel consumption during calm driving does not exceed 9 liters. The car has a four -seater salon, a small trunk (243 l), but the back of the rear seat folds. There was a place for a full -sized spare wheel.

In general, an interesting car turned out. The only thing that raises the question is why it is more expensive than her closest relative to Toyota GT86? The cost of Subaru BRZ in Russia is 1,436,000 rubles. However, this does not stop numerous fans of the brand: the automaker scored orders for this model for a year in advance. The annual quota for Russia is only 120 cars that will surely find their customers.


Subaru Forester TS
Forester TS crossover is an even more exclusive car. Especially for Russia, only 99 copies will be produced.

The history of this model is as follows. STI (Subaru Tecnica International) on December 24, 2010 released a limited batch of 300 TS cars with original equipment intended exclusively for the Japanese market.

The main highlight of this model is a combination of a 2.5-liter turbocharged motor with a capacity of 263 hp. with a 5-speed automatic gearbox, which is installed on the WRX STI version. In addition, Subaru Forester TS differs from the basic model with elements of exterior and interior, suspension settings.

The Subaru Forester TS intended for Russia has the following features: a decorative element of TS on the radiator grille, an original aerodynamic body kit, double exhaust pipes, 17-inch light-luminous disks with a STI emblem with a golden coating. In the cabin, sports seats made of genuine leather and Alcantara are installed in the cabin. Improved compared to the base model and sound insulation.

The main task that Forester TS developers set themselves to improve handling, and make the steering more accurate. In this regard, on this car, the suspension springs are shortened by 15 mm, their stiffness is increased by 30%, original shock absorber, steering rods, front suspension sleeves and front/rear stabilizer are used, a flexible spacer is installed between the front suspension racks.

The test drive, which took place on the Birkernieki picture highway, showed that the controllability of the crossover has really improved significantly, and almost without compromising for other consumer qualities.

The price of the exclusive Subaru Forester TS is 2,130,000 rubles.

The opening of the first specialized complex of technical sports in the USSR in the Birekniek forest on the outskirts of Riga took place on July 30, 1966.
