Unlike people, boring cars are often in great demand. Provided, of course, that their consumer properties are at the proper height. Otherwise, the car will not be noticed in the same way as a boring person.The second generation of Skoda Octavia is already coming off the conveyor, which means that someone needs it. Although it is difficult to find a more impersonal car: in the first generation it did not stand out among the relatives, and in the second ... Is it possible to become even more boring to become an extremely dull car? However, Octavia quite effectively compensates for this character trait of thoughtfulness and general balance, and you can get along with an inexpressive appearance. In the end, time has to be spent while driving, which means that instead of suffering about the average appearance of the machine, it is better to take care of equipping Octavia, so that it meets the tastes and requirements of the owner.
General impressions
Such cars call suitcases. Moreover, it doesn’t matter which version is in question: both the hatchback and the station wagon look restrained. The recently held restyling slightly refreshed the appearance of the Czech model, it even began to remind something of the current third series of BMW. Be that as it may, Octavia is by no means a freak.
The salon turned out to be faded, but, as expected, Volkswagen, very convenient to use, besides, it is qualitatively assembled. The machine was built on the basis of Golf, and by the standards of the segment, in which this closest relative acts, the interior of the Octavia is amazingly spacious (and the minimum volume of the cargo compartment 560 liters!).
The suspension is well tuned: the car feels perfectly on the highway, does not object to the quick passage of turns, besides, the smoothness of the move, albeit not the best in the class, worthy (although somewhat worse than everything is the same Golf). The dynamics of acceleration is not amazing: it is no with basic motors. But with one of the TSI aggregates, there are quite a peppy in the world, there are generally few frankly dead cars with a boost.

The choice of bodies
The most common Octavia is the one in the back of the hatchback. Such a version does not exist? It is wrong, the car may look like a sedan, but in fact it is a five -door. It turns out that the car is still with jokes ...
There is no deception in the station wagon. The remarkable fact in terms of dimensions is practically identical to the hatchback (except a little higher). Such a car costs noticeably more than a conventional Octavia: regardless of the installed engine and the level of execution, an additional payment for an increased luggage volume is 40 thousand rubles.
By the way, dealers still (so many years after the start of sales of a new generation car) offer an old model that received the Tour prefix.
Sources of movement
Exactly gasoline engines are installed on the Octavia assembled in Russia. The weakest of them with a working volume of 1.4 liters gives out 80 hp. Only a mechanical box is provided, but even with it, acceleration is depressingly slow: to dial a hundred, the car needs more than 14 s. This is not to say that this motor is very economical: in mixed mode, it consumes about the same amount as 1.8 TSI (that is, about 7 l). But the version equipped with such an unit costs relatively inexpensively from 539 thousand rubles. (with a similar power unit, only Octavia Ambiente can be ordered).
The next in rank is an old, proven 1.6-liter engine with a capacity of 102 hp. For a car, they equipped, you will have to give at least 625 thousand rubles. Alas, like the junior engine, it is also not able to endow Octavia with good dynamics: even with mechanics (for an additional payment of 35 thousand rubles. This engine is incorporated with automatic transmission) acceleration up to a hundred takes more than 12 s. Fuel consumption per 100 km is exactly 10 liters in the city and 5.8 liters on the highway.
The 1.4 TSI power unit, which develops 122 hp, with tooth dynamics (9.7 C to hundreds) is noticeably more economically more economical than a more voluminous but less powerful engine: consumes 8.8 liters in the city and 5.3 liters on the highway. There is such a car for only 5 thousand rubles. Octavia automaton Octavia with a 1.6-liter engine, that is, from 665 thousand rubles. The DSG box with seven steps will increase the cost of 50 thousand rubles.
The most powerful engine in this model is 1.8-liter, 160-horsepower, installed on the VW Passat and Audi A4. And although he spends even a little less fuel than a weaker 1.6-liter motor, the accelerated dynamics is much better: 7.8 s to hundreds, at a maximum speed of 223 km/h. The minimum price of such a car is 705 thousand rubles. (DSG box will increase the price by 50 thousand rubles, as in the case of a 1.4-liter power unit).
Basic levels of equipment
The cheapest of the proposed Octavia is called Ambiente. Its minimum price is 539 thousand rubles. The basic equipment includes an 80-horsepower motor, an anti-lock brake system, an audio system with eight speakers, a driver’s pillow, front electric windows, electric drive and heated mirrors, adjusting the driver's seat in height, a central castle, as well as an on-board computer. If the machine is equipped with a 1.6-liter or other powerful engine, then additionally Octavia will be equipped with heating seats, passenger aerobal, rain sensor, a more advanced head system of the audio system and air conditioning.
Octavia Elegance is noticeably more expensive than Ambiente: it is offered at a price of 669 thousand rubles. This difference is due to the fact that the cheapest Octavia in the top design is equipped with a 1.6 -liter engine. Ambiente configuration is complemented by a full-fledged climate control, rear electric windows, light alloy disks, cruise control, a glass, a standard anti-theft system and a pl. etc.
Additives?
The Germans (and, therefore, the Czechs) offer a huge number of options for hiring their products. If you do not want to overpay for Octavia Elegance, but without any positions included in the standard completion of this particular model, it is simply impossible to live, then there is an option for some of them (say, fog lights or climate control) to equip a simpler Octavia Ambiente.
Of course, even in a well -equipped version of Elegance there is not all. For example, there is no stabilization system (15 thousand rubles), inflatable safety curtains, front seats (27,600 rubles) and hatch. In addition to these options, you can order upholstery from artificial or natural leather, as well as from alcantara, parking sensors (or only the rear for 10,990 rubles, or together with the front for 20 990 rubles), the navigation system (56 thousand rubles), xenonon Optics (27 thousand rubles), etc.
However, this is not all. Either a rare shade (6790 rubles) will be given an additional fee (6790 rubles), or it will be painted with an enamel of the metallic type (10,990 rubles).
COMPETITION
Kia Spectra
Spectra is the same degeneration in a golf class as Octavia: no longer a compact, but not a full-fledged family car. However, compared with the Skoda under consideration, it has an adequate price. But Octavia is quite a modern product, while the Korean is outdated, last century. In addition, without any choice of bodies.
Chevrolet Lacetti
Lacetti is a rather large car, although it gravitates to the golf class. The line of the bodies is more extensive than that of Octavia, and in addition, the cost is lower. But the Czech car surpasses it in terms of running qualities, and with regard to the interior decoration: Octavia’s salon is better.
Ford Focus
Like Octavia, Focus is collected in Russia, which allows the company to retain prices at an acceptable level. At the same time, Ford does not make the impression of a budget product: this is a normal European car. Focus has quite a peppy sports modification ST with a 225-horsepower turbo engine.
