It is amazing how Skoda got away with this optical deception. In 1997, in Eastern Europe, including the lands of the former GDR, the lines of the Czech Passat were lined up - Skoda Octavia (by that time the brand belonged to the VW concern for seven years). The laconic spacious sedan, made solidly, was bought cheaper. The benefit was obvious. But for some reason, few people thought that the Octavia created under the supervision of the Germans only outwardly resembles Passat, it was built on the basis of Golf IV, a car below. But sales grew because the dimensions of the car literally enchanted buyers, and still the volume of the luggage of Octavia is almost the most spacious in golf class.In truth, Octavia over the years has not lost its habit of seeming something more than it really is. True, an example to follow today you do not need to look on the side, since now there is your own native Superb. Many thought that an updated Octavia would have a trunk with the same double lid as Superb, which became a sedanhetchbek. But changes in the updated Octavia are not such a revolutionary nature. On the contrary, it is more and more than expected: engines 1.6 liters (115 hp) and 2.0 l (150 hp) sunk into history, more modern motors with a turbocharged 1.4 TSI (122 l. .) and 1.8 TSI (160 hp). Either a six -speed mechanics or a new DSG box with two clutches are attached to them. The volume has become smaller, there are more horses. We save gasoline, and there are more than enough traction.
Two atmospheres also remained in service - 1.6 (102 hp) and the base 1.4 (80 hp). Only the smallest Octavia is supplied from the Czech Republic, all other cars are assembled at the Kaluga factory. Cars with diesel engines (due to their low demand for them), they will not be sold at all in Russia.
Speaking about Feyslift, you still need to list what modest changes have occurred in the appearance of the car: both bumper, optics, radiator grille, moldings became in the color of the body and on the roof of a new antenna.
