Test drive by Renault Sandero GT Line since 2012 hatchback

Pretender

STEPWAY basic equipment includes ABS, air conditioning, foggy, front seats with heated and front electric windows

The washer ended suddenly and treacherously. And not a single bulb on the dashboard was borrated in any way to warn the driver in advance. Fixing with a quiet kind word of economists from Renault, I had to urgently moor Sandero Stepway to the side of the road with it, though dirty, but lusted in this situation with snowdrifts.

This is not to say that Renault Sandero Stepway greatly struck the imagination in the test drive process. From the fact of the maximum possible unification with Renault Logan you will not dismiss, you know. In fact, STEPWAY is nothing more than the equipment of the usual SANDERO. The meaning of its appearance in the line of the French automaker is more than understandable. Since the fashion for all kinds of crossovers-imperials went, it’s foolish not to try not to earn it. And a solution was found. As low -budget as the entire platform B0 with its most cheaper Logan & C. We take the standard Sandero, let the plastic strip on board (supposedly for protection). On the front and rear bumpers, add the same unpainted plastic it turns out a cross -overall muzzle. Yes, do not forget about the fog in the front in the front kit. What jeep is without anti -tumens, huh?! Railings, external mirrors, door handles, side linings are covered with plastic a la chromium. Add all-deposited 16-inch wheels, slightly (20 mm) we increase the road clearance, and voila! The SUV is ready. Rather, almost an SUV. Sandero Stepway does not have a full -wheel drive and never will be. Not allowed. The company's marketers decided that the all -wheel drive relative of Logan will be exclusively Renault Duster, and Stepway will only have to pretend to be cool. Sales of Sandero Stepway, produced at the Moscow Renault plant, began in January 2011.

It is curious that it is sold in one single modification only with a 1.6-liter eight-plate with a capacity of 84 hp. and a mechanical five -speed front -wheel drive transmission. Representatives of the company promise that in the bright future the car will also be equipped with a 16-valve (103 hp) version of this engine and automatic transmission. But at the moment, such benefits of civilization can only dream: marketers assure that it is the 84-horsepower unit that is most popular among Russian buyers. It is its share that accounts for about 80% of sales of Logan family cars.

In the city of Sandero Stepway, it behaves quite predictably as an average small hatchback with a fairly high landing of the driver. The engine power for crowds in traffic jams and traffic lights with tightly tinted Nexia and Lada 2112 is enough for the eyes. And the enlarged clearance and short overhangs are very handy in a discipline called the curb parking. The impression was that the future owner of such a machine would not be particularly shy about slipping on a wet primer leading to his beloved dacha. But questions may arise for behavior on the highway. First of all, we note that a long ride at a speed of more than 100 km/h on STEPWay is interfering with noise: the engine begins to hysteria more than 3500 at revolutions. The fuzzy steering wheel does not require increased attention only when driving on freshly laid asphalt. However, to a car at a price of about 450,000 rubles for this reason, to find fault just funny. For the potential owner of this vehicle, it is much more important to know that two frontal airbags for the front passengers are laid in the basic package, and the folding back of the rear seat is divided in a proportion of 60:40, due to which the luggage compartment capacity can be increased from 320 to 1200 liters.

Folding rear seats and fastening of the spare wheel under the bottom radically expand the cargo capabilities of the machine.
