In the end, snow and frost are not the only message in order to gather all the state employees into the column and go to them to Karelia so loved by us. Late autumn is also nothing dirt, broken primers, constant damp, short daylight hours. In addition, before the entry to nature, another reason appeared not to postpone the event. Finally, a year later, they say the most powerful PR, Lada Granta appeared in the interior of AvtoVAZ dealers. We simply could not take it. As a result, on one rainy morning, more precisely, on December 20 at 10:00, Renault Logan, VW Polo Sedan, Hyundai Solaris, Kia Rio and Lada Granta gathered in the assigned place.
Why was the participants in the next run in this order? Everything is simple: it is in this sequence that they appeared in our market. But while Logan was holding the palm of the championship, there was no defeat in the minds of potential buyers: the choice was small. Then Polo Sedan appeared, and then throwing that to choose. A little later, already to those who made an order on Logan or Polo added doubts about the correctness of the choice that appeared Solaris. Now Kia Rio also replenished this galaxy. Theoretically, given the ideological component and dimensions, Lada Granta could become on a par with them, but about everything in order.
So, the start time and participants were determined, it remains to decide where to go. A short day, an abundance of cars and, as a result, the complete lack of time to shoot such a layout of our Bild editor did not suit, in connection with which it was decided to suck the route this time. However, to suck does not mean simplifying. As a result, we have so beloved by the Graider, connecting the Leningrad region with Karelia, was left. The end point of the route was assigned a memorial cottage of Dr. Winter, who practiced in Sortaval at the beginning of the last century. Who knows, maybe there is snow in the country of winter? There is simply nothing that I would like to pay special attention to. No beauty, no chips. But all this is only in the sense that, as they say, he sat down and went. And I went very comfortably and confidently. For me, for example, this is more important than the grace of torpedo lines and the wealth of the dashboard. Everything that is necessary is here. Fidget comfortable seats to somehow change the position of the body during a long trip, is not required at all. The suspension on broken roads is amazing, the brakes are spacing, the review in all directions is good, but it does not suit the area of \u200b\u200bthe windshield plane cleaned by brushes. Nimble, maneuverable, completely sane device with a spacious salon and a huge trunk. And, as the practice of our trip showed, the cleanest: they drove everything in the same conditions, and it was enough to wash so Logan only sprinkled a bit, but to smash drops with a rag. In general, a working car without complaints.
The first Logan were much more utilitable. Savings, erected in the farce, perhaps it was possible to characterize the first budget model of autoframos. Today Logan is different. Having received new bumpers and lighting equipment, once a square car has transformed. It became much better from the inside. And all the business: they changed the doors sheathing, and a little changed the instrument panel, and looks completely different. At the same time, it is just as spacious in it. For all the time of the run, none of us have never complained that there was little space in this machine. In addition, almost a vertical landing provides the driver with exceptional visibility. True, until it comes to reverse movement. Alas, in constrained conditions, it is quite difficult to park without the help of parking sensors or assistant. The latter, by the way, has a volume of 510 liters and at the same time has one significant drawback. As before, the back of the seat does not fold. A clear miscalculation from the designers.
But back to the salon. Despite the fact that it rained almost all the way, there were no problems with ventilation in Renault Logan. Even if the driver was in the cabin in a wet jacket, the glass practically did not fog. And if this happened, then immediately the air conditioner came to the rescue. The work of the latter quite strongly affects acoustic comfort. The fact that it works can be understood without a control lamp on the button of its power. Whether noise insulation is moreatical, there would be no such problems. This drawback is even more manifested on a grader when the pebbles flying from under the wheels are beaten on the wheel arches. And on the grader, in all its glory, the suspension of this car is revealed. The pit on the pit looked exactly this time this time. Yes, against the backdrop of Logan, he is just a handsome man. By the way, it was the appearance that played an important role in the withdrawal of this car to the market. Everyone liked him at once. The pickups, of course, tried to find flaws in it, but everything was in vain: the design of the car was clearly a success. It was no less interesting in terms of functionality. A rather advanced interior, folding backs of the rear seat, not so large, but quite a decent trunk with a volume of 460 liters. Only the dimensions of the cabin were pumped up. In order to sit in place, you have to lean great. This is especially true for the rear passengers, where the roof level is even lower. In addition, the German clearly disappointed in width, which, oddly enough, especially feels the driver. The left lower corner of the central console here is its main enemy. The leg every now and then beats about him. And this is not the only pickup. So, for example, many noted the insufficient information content of the instrument shield. The main claim is small numbers on the central display. The majority did not like the audio system interface too much. But noise insulation was considered quite decent. They also remembered the body aerodynamics in this vein: there is practically no noise from the oncoming counter. The car also feels pretty good on a broken asphalt. The suspension, of course, shaves, but does not go beyond the scope of decency. It is worth finding himself on a good road, as the soul turns out completely.
Audiosystem management requires addiction
The car is very pleasant, and the work of a 6 -speed automatic transmission (it was in such a configuration that our car was) and completely above all praise. There is also a sport mode in which the box switches at higher speeds, supporting the maximum possible torque of an engine with a capacity of 105 liters. With. and a volume of 1.6 liters. (By the way, all cars in this mileage had engines 1.6.) Not the most powerful motor of all presented in the mileage, but the dynamics of the car was at the level. And the fuel consumption was pretty good. However, this statement is fair only in relation to the expense on the highway.
In the city, the car consumes about 9.8 liters according to the passport, while the more powerful Solaris and Rio are ready to be content with the 8.6 liter of the 92nd gasoline. But back to the track, more precisely, on the federal highway. The boulders are the main enemy of this car on a grader leading from Priozersk in Lahdenpokhu. Even small pebbles that flew by whistling under other cars managed to moan along the rear beam, more precisely, along the lower supports of the springs of the rear axle. Located below all, they completely deprived the driver of the advantage that was stipulated in the performance characteristics, namely the clearance of 170 mm. And this despite the fact that the suspension coped with irregularities quite decently. Having missed a stone one or two under the car and having received on the rear beam, we decided to go around all the stones. They suffered a lot and when it was necessary to move out of the road. For a long time, a large front overhang did not allow the car to take its place to shoot. Only after about five minutes, having chosen the right trajectory, we dragged Polo where the rest drove without problems, and then, almost caught the jaw for the tubercle.

We did not have to look for a car for a run, by the will of chance it was at our fingertips, in resource tests. As a result, a 123 -horsepower Solaris with an automatic 4 -speed box took the place in the caravan. By the way, we did not pay attention to the work of the latter for the work of the latter. Those 160 mm that the manufacturer declares cannot be compared even with 155 mm Logan. The reason is that Solaris has a engine protection too low, it eats the lion's share of the road clearance. And where Logan flew with a bang, Solaris was attached with plastic. But here is not to blame the Korean is in the absence of sound insulation. On a good road, Kia flies like a bird, and following in the column, I had to constantly restrain myself. When they fell on the multi -kilometer graders, it was shaking strongly, but, with rare exceptions, it did without breakdowns. On liquid mud we had an advantage over ESP owners, since the car itself did not slow down. At the same time, it was not particularly carried on the road, it was only bothered how to get a stone on the forehead from the crawling and gazing comrades ahead. In the darkness, the head light with wide fog lights praised again: both stones and hares are clearly visible in the forest on the sidelines. In general, from Kia Rio a good review in all directions. On a serpentine, it is easy to control the machine. It is very obedient: and you can slow down quickly, but not sharply, and rush when overtaking.
It's no secret that this car is coming off the same conveyor as Solaris. The latter was made possible thanks to a single platform. But to say that Rio is the same Solaris is fundamentally wrong. And the point here is not that the cars look completely different. They even have a different architecture. Otherwise, how to explain, for example, that Solaris has 46 liters less trunk? So, when choosing a budget option, you will have to consider Rio as a completely different car. In any case, in the first approximation of the majority, this opinion is formed. This Korean has nothing to do with a fellow conveyor. It was drawn exclusively for the European market, which was reflected in its appearance. Dynamic, rapid, modern, perhaps, in three words can characterize the appearance of this car.
No less interesting Rio is inside. Everything, like, according to the mind, is everything in its place. And with ergonomics, as if, everything is in order, although there are some nuances that you involuntarily pay attention to.

It is also unclear why, when the backlight is turned on, the keys on the door are not illuminated. However, this sin is found for Solaris. Apparently, in this way the budget of cars is manifested. And this is in the presence of non -closed access in maximum trim levels. And what about Rio with controllability? Here everything is just the same as that of Solaris. One platform, only engines, some boxes. All this could not but affect the dynamic characteristics of the car. Unless the pendants behaved differently. Rio was more tolerant of bumps on a grader. Although the latter also has an explanation. Rio approached this run with 5000 km of run, and Solaris has already wound more than 30,000 by this time. The back is boring, but for a giant trunk and low loading height, I forgive her this bad taste. Future owners should overpay a little for optional cast discs: with them the car looks an order of magnitude more solid. Okay, the interior is hidden, the front panel is convenient and does not make unnecessary sounds. The lack of a coolant temperature indicator on a pretty instrument panel surprised. The steering wheel is similar to Loganovsky, but at the same time much more convenient. But to the steering wheel switches, you have to stretch your fingers are short. Large mirrors and thin racks provide excellent visibility. Soft seats are poorly formed, and because of this, the back is quickly tired. Grants dynamics are good, the selected gear rates of the KP are perfect. It is a pity that the selectivity of the lever’s stroke leaves much to be desired: you can miss when choosing a transmission. I can’t believe it, but suddenly ... Moreover, judging by the pictures, the car promised to be quite decent. And it happened! The acquaintance took place the day before the start of the test, when we assembled cars on dealers. Documents on hand, key in the hand, Granta in the parking lot. Well, from the side it seems to be the way. The trunk, of course, was put from another car, and a rut like a trolley from a narrow gauge, but in general, from some angles, there is nothing very. And in terms of dimensions, it is visually slightly inferior to Logan. The key in the door lock, turn, click of the central lock, and the key cannot be pulled out of the well by any forces. It seems to be still a jerk, and it will be extracted from the car with the handle. After suffering for a few minutes, nevertheless, they removed the key without consequences. The door, devoid of the limiter, opens wide open, and we are in the cabin. The smell of winds beats in the nose. So only AvtoVAZ can smell. Carefully insert the key into the lock and turn with the accuracy of the sapper twisting the fuse ... carried: the car started up without problems. We relax, throw the salon with your gaze. If you do not pay attention to the fact that the handle of adjusting the back of the driver's seat is scrolled, and the back itself is almost vertically, the cabin is very nice in the cabin. No, indeed, in general it turned out well. Especially pleased with the instrument panel. He is really informative. The central console is also not bad, but somewhere like this has already been seen.
The insight came the next day when Logan was nearby. Yes, everything is like that or almost like that of a Frenchman. However, if you take into account who AvtoVAZ will go to, everything falls into place. However, we will continue. Despite its not very large dimensions, Granta has a rather large trunk of 480 liters. If necessary, folding the back of the rear seat, it can be increased. But you need to do this together, because when you release one lock and crawl around the seat behind the second, the first is again snapped.
By the way, on the day of the run, we took off the scrolling handle, and the seats later pulled out the seats for themselves with pliers. The latter, to be honest, were not the only tool that we took with us for mileage, given the presence of Granta in the column, but they were not useful to our joy. Already in the process of movement, it was noted that the electric power steering in the machine clearly requires improvement. The steering wheel constantly bites, and therefore even a slight deviation from zero discrete. The brakes seemed insufficient. It is necessary to put pressure on them with twice as much force than, for example, on Logan. Pride for how easily and naturally Granta goes along a broken grader, after a few minutes was replaced by disappointment. The programs took place every now and then, and therefore it was necessary to steer in the future with one hand, and with the other to hold on to the curtains. A serious test for the car was just broken asphalt. At a speed of about 70-80 km/h, the car began to baptize, while the other participants in the mileage overcame it without problems. Not without pleasant revelations. Successfully selected numbers in the box allowed the 87 -horsepower engine to literally wear a car. The thrust is simply amazing. Moreover, both in the first and in the fifth gear. The roar, however, in the cabin with intensive acceleration, the same one, but as it goes by the way, about sound insulation. Gustav Winter was the advanced doctor of his time, his name was widely known not only in Finland, but also in St. Petersburg. In 1918, he left for Helsinki, where he was engaged in private practice until the end of his life (1924).
In summer days, Gustav Winter was in a hurry to his beloved cottage on the Peninsula Taruniai, 10 km from the city.
