Logan against Sandero. What to choose?

Our long test Renault Sandero continues. The gray-green hatchback does not cause any trouble, regularly carries us in editorial and personal needs. We have already accumulated a lot of impressions of the car, but in this publication we will not tell you about how Sandero rides with a machine gun. We are often asked a completely different question: what to choose Sandero or Logan? And what kind of configuration to prefer? We answer the example of two cars at once.

We did not take Logan in a test park (they usually buy cars in top-compartment) in May of this year I bought a cherry sedan to my parents. The selection criteria were as simple as possible: an unpretentious, with a normal clearance and inexpensive service, provided that large annual walkways. The latter is important, because for six months on the odometer 29,500 kilometers ran. And while Logan copes with his tasks, during this time only one near light lamp burned out.


After restyling two years ago, all versions of Renault Logan, including the taxi Autentique 1.4, received several not too noticeable, but important advantages. The main enlarged side mirrors (before they were the privilege of the Prestige version). Plus normal door handles (sorry that only on the front doors). And a more convenient steering wheel. By the way, if you are going to buy Logan or Sandero performed by Prestige, do not spare 2,200 rubles for the leather shelling of the steering wheel. Although it is rough, but more tenacious and much more pleasant than naked plastic.
The most noticeable differences between the equipment of Expression and Prestige (above): finishing the edging of deflectors and the central console with silver plastic, other upholstery of the seats. In addition, Expression issues a two -tone front panel

But the conversation is not about reliability now. So, in the red corner of the Logan 1.4 Expression Ring with mechanics and additional options: ABS, 2 airbags, air conditioning, metallic painting. Total 411 800 rubles. In the blue corner of Sandero 1.6 Prestige with an automatic machine for 534 thousand rubles. Only an off-road version of Stepway with a similar 16-valve engine and automatic transmission is more expensive. And if you compare Logan and Sandero with an identical level of equipment, then the surcharge for hatchback will be 10 thousand rubles. What are the differences? And what would I like to see in our Logan?


Renault Sandero trunk is more convenient not only in that it has folding backs of the rear sofa. There is a pen for closing the door here! And the cargo compartment of the Logan needs to be closed, clutching a bare metal with sharp edges. But Logan wins the fifth wheel located under the bottom in the volume and convenience of placing a full -sized spare wheel in Sandero

The main and main difference is, of course, the trunk. The volume of the cargo compartment in Logan is more than 510 liters against only 320 for Sandero. But if the hatchback can be safely increased to 1320 liters, then you will have to tinker with the sedan. The back of the rear sofa does not fold, but is removed. And for this you will need a tool. But for the transportation of large objects, this is not necessary to remove metal crossbars. There will be only sports equipment (skis, snowboards), or building materials (boards, rolls) will crawl between them.


It is curious that the restyled logs received a plastic lid of a towing hook, and in Sandero this loop sticks out of the rear bumper. But the fact that Logan has lost a little hand-made trunk opening on the outside is a minus. Before at least there was a tiny plastic tongue

The rest of the differences between the hatchback and the sedan lies exclusively in the body, optics and exterior details. And the levels of equipment are similar. Here, perhaps, it is immediately necessary to make a reservation that the automatic box is available only with a 16-valve engine with a volume of 1.6 liters (102 hp). And the cheapest logan with such a power unit costs at least 435 thousand rubles. It will be just in the very configuration of expression as the sedan presented in the photographs.


Logan Expression has unpainted mirrors, black door handles and 14-inch stamped discs with caps (Sandero Prestige has optional 15-inch alloy wheels). Ugly? But more practical! By the way, the door handles on the Renault Sandero are exactly the same as that of the Renault Symbol sedan, not only are they too large, but also made of unpleasant cheap plastic. Resembles sooths that were once popular with VAZ nine owners

Moreover, the equipment does not differ! In the same way, you will have to pay extra for a package of safety systems (ABS plus two front pillows) for 19,800 rubles, and for air conditioning (22 thousand) and even for fog lights (4,300 rubles). Moreover, such options as, for example, electric mirrors and their heating, as well as heating the seats, are basically inaccessible in the EXPRESSION configuration. In general, if you are not ready to abandon the winter package, you will have to buy Logan or Sandero performed by Prestige (from 496,300 rubles).


The front seats are the same for all modifications of Logan/Sandero. And they, unfortunately, will be inconvenient for most drivers. Neither profile nor lateral support shines. The heating button is hidden in a blind area. But the back is very spacious, three adults will calmly sip here. But in the login, the legs are a little larger (Sandero’s wheelbase is 42 mm smaller). Perhaps this is the situation in the trim levels (either Expression without a bunch of desired options, or expensive Prestige) and led to the great popularity of non -original heating mirrors and various capes with heating for seats. Of course, you can live without it, but modern machines have already accustomed to such simple equipment.


A definite minus of Prestige execution is an instrument shield (left). It would seem that white scales revive the interior. But they are good only if you move in daylight hours. It is worth going down to the tunnel or to be driving at dusk, as the driver loses information about speed and revolutions, amber backlight on a white background makes the tidy completely blind. The standard version of the Expression version is much more informative. By the way, digitization here in the usual format for 20-40-60, and not 30-50-70, like many French cars.
The levers of the checkpoint of both cars are non -casms, but convenient. And on long trips there was an unexpected plus of a high machine gun poker in position D. It can be used as ... armrest
It makes no sense to pay 9 thousand for the optional factory radio radio radio radio radio radio radio radio tape recorder, it is better to buy something more decent for this money. True, you will also have to buy a couple of anterior speakers (the wiring in the door was carried out). But there is a special version of Sandero Energy, in which the audio system has a control panel under the steering wheel and AUX input. It costs from 415 thousand for a car with an 8-valve 1.6 and mechanics and from 471 for a 16-valve with an automatic

The second interesting question: is the 75-horsepower base engine so bad? If you go to drive mainly in urban conditions and not with full load, then it copes with its tasks perfectly. Fortunately, the mechanical gearbox has not only a good lever drive (relatively short), but also optimally selected transfer numbers Logan 1.4 do not sag when the next step is switching. You can make a bush. True, for this, when acceleration, you need to twist the motor up to 5.5 thousand rpm.


All engines used on Logan/Sandero have long been run on other Renault models, so child diseases are no longer listed. And the base 1.4 and 16-valve 1.6 are able to consume 92nd gasoline.

But it is worth planting 3-4 people inside, like Logan 1.4 noticeably fester. Not to mention the fact that any overtaking on a suburban two -lane road needs to be planned for a mile away. So lovers of summer sorties and travels in a warm company definitely should choose Logan 1.6. At least eight -valve, with a capacity of 84 hp. The surcharge is 15 thousand rubles, and for this money the buyer receives not only nine additional horses. Engine 1.6 is more painful maximum torque more than 1.4 (124 N ∙ m against 112), and is reached earlier (2500 rpm instead of 3000).


On the go, 16-valve Sandero leaves the slightest chance to Logan with a 75-horsepower engine. Even if there is an automatic transmission

But the 16-valve version, which we have already tested in winter, for Logan, it seems excessive, of course, it goes vigorously (up to hundreds in 10.5 seconds!), But is it necessary to pay extra 21 thousand for it? In addition, the extra 2 horsepower transfer the car to another transport tax rate and OSAGO policy. And Sandero 16V was a little tougher on the move than Logan 1.4, although, of course, the stunning energy intensity of the suspension did not go away. Yes, and noise insulation in Prestige's performance is no better no better inside, and among all sources of acoustic discomfort dominate the Barum Brilliantis tires (they are placed on all versions of Logan/Sandero).


Logan is 230 mm longer than Sandero. Almost the entire increase in the rear axle account (the base, as mentioned earlier, is more than 42 mm)

So what to choose? If the automatic transmission is critical, then there is only a 16-valve 1.6 and only Prestige equipment without options. And Logan or Sandero is a matter of taste and the need for frequent transformation of the rear seats. By the way, at the Autoframs factory next year they plan to produce 160 thousand cars, but, according to preliminary data, Sandero will have only 20% instead of 50% allotted by Logan. What does it mean? The fact that the Hatchbacks will be released less than this year (32 thousand versus almost 40). And the entire increase in the production capacities of the enterprise will go to the Renault Duster crossover. Want Sandero? It is worth a hurry!
