After all, the diesel version, according to Renault, is entirely focused on Off-Road: from a decent moment of a 1.5-frail engine at low speeds to off-road settings of the Communist Party. Perhaps the diesel will be much more economical in operation? After all, the cost of the diesel Duster, at first glance, is almost the same as that of a gasoline, with the only difference being that the interior mileage is one and a half times shorter than 10,000 instead of 15,000 km. The first two in cost are really identical to gasoline, rise in price occurs only on the third. Nevertheless, for 100,000 km, losses in comparison with a gasoline version will amount to 90,000 rubles. Plus 25,000 rubles. The price difference in the cost of the diesel and 2 -liter gasoline version of Duster. So 115,000 rubles are already gaining. Too many to repel this delta at gas stations. Savings with 5.3 liters per 100 km in a mixed cycle of a diesel diesel against 7.8 liters in a 2 -lit gasoline version for 100,000 km will be about 75,000 rubles. So in relation to the Duster, the economic component of the diesel version seems very doubtful, especially given the best dynamic and model indicators of the gasoline engine. The only operational segment in which the diesel Duster, thanks to a high torque on the bottom, has superiority over a 2 -liter gasoline counterpart.

However, there is also an important issue of prestige ... Another French revolution has opened a diesel window for the budget segment in Russia! And Renault, by and large, does not care how to divide the capacities on its conveyor. For the French, the launch of the diesel Duster on the Russian market is more likely a control shot for the already conquered segment, and at the same time a springboard for the mass launch of Renault diesel engines in Russia.
Three months of endurance tests of the European Duster in 2011 at irrevocated diesel gas stations and three more months of cold tests have already resulted in a number of adaptive measures: in comparison with the European Dacia, the Russian Renault Duster has acquired new radiators, a more powerful heater and a modified injection system. As a result: if the European version of Duster allows you to produce cold starting at 20C, then the Russian boot comes to life at 25C.

Like a 2 -liter gasoline version, cars with a diesel engine will be equipped with an optional ESP. But only in the fall. However, all these are trifles that are unlikely to be able to seriously hit the sales of the chief bestseller of the Russian car market of the 2012 season. At a price of 607,000 rubles, in addition to UAZ Patriot, Duster simply does not have competitors in a diesel family, except for one exception ... We are talking about Great Wall Hover H5, which is in full minced meat with a leather salon, camera, automatic transmission and others The attributes of a beautiful life are offered for 845,000 rubles. In terms of controllability, they are quite similar. The only aspect in which the Chinese is definitely inferior to the Frenchman, the traction characteristics on the bottoms. The motor is simpler, and the four -speed machine is not the best off -road assistant.
Our verdict
Already now it is clear that, unlike Europe, where Duster's diesel version has shifted about 60% of the model sales, in Russia, diesel is unlikely to pull over 1020% of customers. For Renault, the launch of the diesel Duster in Russia is rather an attempt to close the entire game table of the budget segment and create a bridgehead for the mass launch of diesel engines in Russia.
