Porsche Boxster 981 test drive since 2012

This is one!

Thus claimed the hero of the film Mikhalkov, looking at the obstetrician bag with gold. Similar sensations arise in a person who first opened the door of Porsche Boxster.
On Khoroshevskoye Shosse, a kilometer from the editor, I was stopped by the traffic police inspector and asked me to present documents - supposedly a check for theft. Opening the front trunk, I dumped a heap of documents from the bag - the inspector mumbled Vin into the radio, and stubbornly mowed the open car inside.
“You still check the engine number,” I tell the lieutenant in an elemental voice. The inspector obediently moves to the posterior hood, and another neat trunk appears to be his amazed gaze.
- And where is the motor?! - The eyes of the inspector are made the size of a cockade.
“But no,” I answer. - This is a pedal machine.
Pedal! This, of course, was a joke. There is an engine in Boxster, this is an opposite six -cylinder engine located in the base behind the seats - the so -called medium -measurement scheme of the power unit. Its maintenance is possible exclusively on the lift - in the rear trunk there are only necklines for operational liquids and an oil probe. Under the front hood - the vent of the windshield washer tank.
Short-flowing (the distance between the upper and lower dead pistons of the piston is only 78 mm), the 24-valve Porsche engine incorporated almost all the achievements of modern motor design. Its nutrition used the Variocam in intake phases, switched resonance camera on the inlet cycle, four camshafts. The so -called dry lubrication system is used here - the crankcase, where the crankshaft rotates, is not reported directly with the oil capacity, and three special pumps provide timely supply, pressure and suction.
Porsche driver constantly feels the pulse and heat of this motor, literally feels with skin, and after a while it seems that a large powerful beast lives behind you. It is heard in all operating modes, but the sound is not annoying, but rather soothing.
Porsche engineers have been demonstrating a persistent adherence to the average engine layout - all modern Porsche are amazing stability in steep turns. It is possible to disrupt such a machine into a skid, but it is possible for a professional or a completely frostbitten driver. And if the first is likely to cope with the breakdown of the rear wheels, then the second will at least buy a new Boxster.
One gets the impression that the car with all its body, all organs resists lateral slipping. Wide wheels tenaciously hold on to the asphalt, the steering wheel to pain in the hands seeks to return to its original position. The hard suspension nullifies the side rolls of the body and presses on the extravagant driver with lateral overloads, as in an airplane.
Classic in black. Some complain that the salon in Boxster turned out a little cramped, but such people clearly suffer from claustrophobia. Spaces for two people in it are more than enough - both in length and in width. Moreover, I pulled the driver's seat a little forward, although in most cars it is almost always pushed back until it stops back.
Round scales are almost a species sign of most sports cars. Porsche Boxster is no exception, but here the devices are decorated much more original than in other machines that had to be sitting at the wheel. Nothing revolutionary, just a combination of three alarms fixed on the front panel, is covered with a large visor, and the whole structure resembles the creation of the vanguard architect. In the center, as expected, there is a round analog tachometer with a digital repetition of the speedometer - the need for an analog speedometer, which was perched on the left, seems to be not. But still the design is beautiful, especially when it shines in the dark with ruby \u200b\u200blight.
An intra -sulfate mirror in Boxster is also a rather original curved shape, but only the road is visible in it - extra parts in the form of head restraints do not fall. And it is right.
Your own among strangers. We foresee a natural and simple question - and who needs such a car? Well, everything is clear with Europe and America - the image of Porsche is familiar to us by numerous militants. There are successful lawyers, secret agents and their mistresses, as well as mafiosi on such cars. And what do we have? The answer will seem unusual to you, but I would love to purchase such a car for ... daily city travel. Because its main value is not in the Porsche emblem on the hood, but in how this car knows how to drive.
In our Boxster, an automatic Tiptronic gearbox was installed with the possibility of choosing gearboxes manually. For a city where the movement mode changes often and unpredictably, this is what is needed. Do not believe cheap pijes who claim that a real sports car should only be with a manual box. For such super -tuners on the machine, a manual, more precisely, finger mode is provided. The gear shift is carried out by the buttons to the steering wheel, as in super -serious sports pain. In the city, it is not very convenient to finger in this way, although this is a matter of habit.
But the automation is beyond praise - Porsche Boxster accelerates powerfully and without the slightest jerk. And what is interesting: the operation of the automatic box can be observed on the display, which has indications of gears and does not turn off when moving to automatic mode. This made it possible to make the following observation: after a short stop in front of the Boxster traffic light, it touches from the second gear and, with a rather sharp acceleration of up to 70-80 km/h, it almost instantly skips to the fifth. With a fairly torn but fast driving in the range of 60-100 km/h, the 4th and 5th gear is satisfied, and prefers the third with sharp accelerations.
Alien among his own. It is necessary to have such a car - happiness and pleasure, but you need to pay for pleasure. And we are not talking about money, but about some inconveniences that should be treated as an inevitable evil.
Firstly, it is dust. During the day, which Boxster spent the open on the streets of Moscow, the mica window in a folding top was so flashed that the dimensions of cars were barely visible through it in the evening. The rigidity of the suspension, almost not noticeable on a flat road in the city center, and a small clearance requires a serious approach when choosing a route of movement. And another annoying factor-the steering wheel lies almost on the knees and is regulated only in one plane-back and forth.
In addition, the garage acquires fundamentally vital meaning for the owner of Boxster. The car comes complete with a hard roof, which in our climate will have to be used almost seven months a year. But when spring arrives and with her a legal desire to enjoy the oncoming breeze with a folded soft top, the upper shell will have to be stored in the garage, and it takes up the places pretty much.
