One of these cars tended to bend their own line, PEUGEOT 607 business class, which appeared in 2000.
 
What the French car you definitely cannot refuse is in charm. And the Peugeot 607 is no exception: it does not have a drop of passion or pressure (moreover, it is thick, with impressive overhangs). But this model contains some kind of tenderness plus, of course, an abyss of expression.
 
Unfortunately, unlike many competitors, the body is represented by one four -door option. Although, perhaps, it is not entirely correct to consider this a disadvantage? After all, the Russians prefer sedans (practice shows that the business class station wagons do not use popularity with us).

There are no problems and with resistance to corrosion. As with passive safety (Peegeot 607 has it very high). But with an electrician, not everything is in order (in general, problems for this part are also characteristic of the younger models of the company): illiterate musical or alarms in a complex side network often leads to unsystematic malfunctions.
 
The salon is the 607th spacious, with a normal (albeit imperfect) ergonomics, and most importantly stylish. But the most important distinguishing feature is magnificent equipment: the model is equipped with a rain sensor, xenon headlights, an on-board computer, climate control, parking sensors and other options without which a large car with a claim to status is unthinkable. We also note that the audio system is already in the base of a wonderful eight speakers. Another feature of the Peugeot 607 is a roomy trunk (this is why the French fled such an impressive rear overhang).
 
You can’t find it to the driving qualities of the car. The French are famous masters for setting the suspension, therefore it is not surprising that the 607th is very good and has a completely normal smoothness of the course. By the way, some details of the chassis migrated from the former Peugeot 605, compared with which the 607th steer more calmly and more confident. But the dynamics leaves much to be desired: even with a 3-liter V6, the car accelerates to 100 km/h per 10 s. A mechanical box will help to fix the situation a little, but how many people who buy a comfortable business class car and burning a desire to switch the program yourself? However, oddly enough, most of the owners of cars with a 2.2 liter engine are satisfied with their dynamics (after all, it is known that initially the requirements for the younger version are somewhat underestimated).
 
Most of the 607s running around Russia are equipped with gasoline engines. This is a 2.2-liter in-line six with a capacity of 158 liters. With. and 207-horsepower 3-liter V6. There are also diesel power units (but in Russia they are not very popular for obvious reasons): this is a 2.2 liter motor (until 2003 it developed 133 liters, after 138), as well as a wonderful 2.7-liter V6 with a capacity of 205 liters. With. As for the reliability of gasoline engines, it is quite high. Large troubles happen quite rarely (mainly the owners complain of malfunctions that arose as a result of the use of poor -quality gasoline, for example, on the premature failure of the ignition, from time to time require replacement of the ignition coil). Note that at one time official dealers ordered to change oil and filters every 20 thousand km. Then, however, they realized that the declared mileage for our conditions was great, and introduced an intermediate oil once by 10 thousand km. However, the owners of those engines that passed by the old rules managed to feel what oil has been 20 thousand km in Russia with its dust and temperature changes
 
The PEUGEOT 607 is equipped with one of two boxes: either five -speed mechanics or a four -band automatic transmission (at the end of 2004 a six -speed automatic appeared), moreover, both gasoline power units were engaged in each of them. Both that and the other transmission is, in principle, the troublesome, if you follow them and not torment without need. Nevertheless, it is necessary to keep in mind that before buying it is recommended to carefully diagnose the machine: if you have time to roll the car, then repairing the box will cost a very decent amount.
 
It is advisable to check the suspension: no, it cannot be said that it is unreliable (all the main details serve quite long: more or less often it will have to be changed only by racks of reproach stability stabilizers), but the bulkhead of the ducked suspension will cost very solid money. We also note that the weak point of the steering rail model, so before buying it is necessary to diagnose this node. The brakes, by the way, are also not the most durable: the front pads, even with a relatively calm ride, go 1520 thousand km (discs last three times longer). The margin of strength of the rear linings is much larger (they can withstand 60 thousand km without replacement).
 
As you can see, you can’t call the cheap content of this car a business class. And the operation is unlikely to be relatively calm (the Frenchman quite often requires petty intervention). However, for many it doesn’t matter, because such buyers value their special character in Peugeot 607, which differs from those who prefer impressive German and Japanese models. This car is bought not by calculation, but at the call of the heart. The pragmatist sees in it only an object for constant financial investments, the romantic of his love is a romantic. Most buyers of such machines are just among the latter.
