It so happened that cars with a diesel engine in our country are not popular. There are several reasons.

The initial high cost, the risks of stringing the motor on our fuel, do not start in winter at low temperatures and, the flip side of the high efficiency of poor heating of the cabin.

Today is time to get rid of fears associated with diesel engines.

At the end of October, Peugeot 408 with a diesel engine enters our market. This is the firstborn from Peugeot in such a combination. The diesel is small in volume, only 1.6 liters, but 112 real horses and, most importantly, torque, like an adult 254 Nm! Moreover, the motor goes to it already at 1750 rpm and holds up to almost four thousand. Who knows what these numbers mean, understands me, and who does not know, I will explain that your sensation from driving on such a motor is similar to a 170-horsepower gasoline. I will even say more a combination of small (compared to a gasoline engine) revolutions and serious traction gives rise to a completely different perception of movement.

Now about personal impressions on the test. I'll start with the fact that I did not like it. The first and, perhaps, the last absence of an automatic gearbox. Although I myself like the mechanic, but the modern trend obliges to have a machine gun. Here it is not at all in the form of a robot or the type of machine gun. But this problem immediately became a common place and the first of the questions asked to manufacturers. To which they answer: you will have a squirrel and a whistle! In the meantime, only mechanics, but what! ..

Yes, I can say that excellent. Although, I would have brought the first and second programs a little closer, but this is only for extreme driving. In normal mode, everything is ok. Now about the main criticism for the fuel for Russians. This motor has been in our country for several years and in full the full program has been adapted to Russian conditions. I will not see everything in the attached press release. Well, of course, if you pour all shit, and even mixed with water and not corresponding to the season, then you can start at once. But, people who buy cars with diesel engines, as a rule, are advanced people and do not allow themselves to be such mockery. And diesel fuel throughout the country has already improved much compared to diesel fuel for tractors. So, if you are not greedy and refuel at normal gas stations, then there will be no problems with the shabbying work, with cold launch, or with efficiency. Speaking of cold start. From the owner at low temperature, it is only necessary to wait a few seconds until the glow candles create the desired temperature in the combustion chamber. That's all. At the same time, immediately after the start of the engine, warm air begins to flow into the salon. Why? A 1000-watt electrophen is implanted in the salon heating system.

Now about the consumption. I literally raped the car on the test: mountain roads, a pseudo -sports driving style, protracted (almost Moscow) traffic jams in cities, in general, it is difficult to come up with worse. As a result, 6.9 l/100 km. My colleagues also tried their best, but they could not squeeze more than 6.3 liters per hundred (there was little experience).

Finally, a very important calculation: all additional costs associated with the diesel engine are fully paid off for 60 thousand mileage, that is, about three years.
