PEUGEOT 4007 test drive since 2007 SUV

Lyceum

In the main foreign language now, this is called Badge Engineering. This means that a car with minimal changes is sold immediately under n names, where n ›1. In this case, on the basis of the Japanese Mitsubishi Outlander, three versions were created for Russia: Outlander XL, Citroen C-Crosser and Peugeot 4007. True, the differences here are not only in names and designations: all three cars have a completely different front part and are even produced on different factories. Thus, a very pure experiment will turn out: the entire sales difference will be associated only with the image of the brands.

Citroen branded chevrons are not just an emblem, but part of the shape of the car.
1. S-Crosser is the only model of the Japanese-French three model that is proposed in Russia with a diesel engine. Although the motive for cooperation by the Japanese company was just access to diesel engines, without which you cannot count on large sales in Europe. But in Russia this motor is not very popular, and the French undertook to develop a new segment. In general, a rather pleasant unit with a volume of 2.2 liters, like many modern diesel engines, does not really like low speeds.
2. The diesel version is the fastest (less than 10 seconds to hundreds) and, of course, the most economical. But it is also the most expensive: it will cost 38.5 thousand rubles more expensive than gasoline in a similar configuration. In terms of frequency, the diesel and gasoline are the same: every 10 thousand km, unlike other Citroen models, which should go to the service every 15 thousand km.
3. As an automatic transmission, a fashionable variator is offered here. They can be controlled manually using petals on the steering wheel or lever. The automatic lever is shorter than on the mechanics. Well, right: there is always no sense in using it. Manual control here honestly holds the transmission even when promoting the engine to the stop, so it is convenient to slow down with the engine. But in all other cases, the machine gun is better.
4. Chromewood overlay on a step, 18-inch wheels with 55 percent tires and darkened rear windows a sign of the most expensive EXCLUSIVE configuration. For a ridiculous surcharge of 26.5 thousand rubles compared to a more modest confort, we will also get leather in the cabin, xenon, electric drive of the driver’s chair, parking sensors (which would cost 11.5 thousand in the Confort version) and the CD changer.
5. The fundamental difference between both French and the Japanese is the presence of a third row of seats. Two armchairs are carefully hidden in the trunk, and in the unfolded state, despite the presence of headrests, do not look the most comfortable in the world. But in seven -seater cars, two places are often made on the principle of it is better to go badly than to go well.

The author of the front of the front part 4007 was apparently inspired by the PEUGEOT emblem for the reckless lion.
1. This is not the first PEUGEOT SUV. The first was the first, under this name, the company was released under the Mercedes-Benz Gelandewagen license for the French army.
2. Although chic and comfort are considered the features of the French lifestyle, the 4007 interior has not changed at all compared to the Japanese prototype. And it is the Japanese who we must be grateful for the simple and logical control of the climate control and a luxurious two-story glove compartment.
3. The Japanese should also address claims about stupid control algorithms for the navigation system. It inevitably accompanies the version of the audio system with a 30 GB hard drive and a 7-inch screen. But due to the lack of official cards in the Russian Federation, it does not work yet.
4. There are no lowering gears and connected rear axle, everything happens automatically. However, the driver can choose one of the three transmission modes. The forced front -wheel drive is designed to save fuel (although this contradicts physics: the driven wheels create higher resistance). Full -wheel drive with automatic distribution of torque is optimal in terms of security. A forced all -wheel drive with a lock of the center differential increases cross -country ability. Although the compatibility of the concepts of patency and a tire profile of 55 percent seems to us somewhat limited.
5. So far, both Mitsubishi and Peugeot with Citroen are produced in Japan, but in different factories. By the end of this year, the European Outlander will be transferred to the Mitsubishi plant in the Netherlands, and French models will still be released ... in Japan! And only next year, all three European models will be done in the Dutch city of Bourne. And since 2011 and in Russia, near Kaluga. It is assumed that at a factory just laid at a price of 470 million euros will produce up to 50 thousand SUV per year and another 110 thousand cars of Peugeot and Citroen.
