Price: n. d. on sale: since May 2013The first country, where PEUGEOT 301 sales were started, was Turkey, which is not surprising: more than half of the car market has more than half of the car market. Algeria, Morocco, Latin America and, of course, China, will also become the key markets for sales. In the Middle Kingdom, it is planned to sell about 75,000 PEUGEOT 301 pieces a year as much as in all other markets combined! We, of course, are far from China, but they also make a large bet on Russia in PEUGEOT. That is why we were able to get acquainted with the new sedan one of the first, six months before its official sales in our country. And the place for the test drive was chosen by the resort Antalya very close to the Russians.
In Turkey, Peugeot has its own production, but only Bipper and Partner heels are collected here. And the hero of our test is produced in Spain, at the factory in Vigo. Moreover, a surprise, in the Spanish market this model is not planned to sell! It will not be in France and other countries of Western Europe. And why, one wonders if compact sedans occupy only 2% of the market there? However, Citroen has a different opinion on this score, so the twin brother of Peugeot 301 Citroen C-Yelysee will appear in the old world. Well, both seds will be sold with us. Which of them will be in demand more, not knowing prices, it is difficult to say, but I personally have a little pretty pepper, reminiscent of a reduced copy of the Peugeot 508.
The novelty is built on the PEUGEOT 208 chassis, and although it differs from the aggregate donor with an enlarged wheelbase and an extension to the stern, formally refers to the B-segment. But only formally. No wonder at the beginning of the model the model is not a deuce, but a three. Indeed, in spaciousness, this sedan is not only inferior to golf class models, but also surpasses many of them! With a height of 186 cm, I calmly sit down behind myself, and still a solid supply of space in my knees remains. The volume of the trunk is also impressive: 506 liters. Moreover, at the presentation we were called a different number of 640 liters! Error? No, just the French counted the volume in their own way: to achieve such fantastic indicators can be poured into the trunk of water.

For Peugeot 301, three engines are offered: gasoline, 1.2 and 1.6 liters (72 and 115 hp), as well as a 1.6 -lit -dimensional pipeline (92 l.). Moreover, the latter will appear in Russia! But the version with an automatic transmission will be only one: the machine will receive the most powerful gasoline engine. Why not equip an automatic box and a diesel unit? It turns out that this is difficult from the point of view of logistics, since the assortment of engines and gearboxes supplied to the factory in Vigo is limited. In addition to the new sedan, the Spanish enterprise produces Peugeot Partner, Citroen Berlingo and C4 Picasso, and none of these models has a version with diesel and automatic. However, by the end of 2014, the French nevertheless plan to expand the range of two -pedal Peugeot 301, equipping a 1.2 -litrous motor with a robot.

For the test, as usual, well-equipped cars rolled out to us: here you have a proprietary media system, and climate control, and a complete electric package. Doors, like the trunk, open from the button on the key a trifle, and conveniently. It was comfortable to get a job on the driver's seat almost immediately, despite the fact that the steering wheel here is adjusted only in height. The salon is decorated laconic (interior avangradism Peugeot 208 could not accept the sedan), although not without delights like a steering wheel arranged in the lower part or inserts made of glossy plastic. On the dashboard there are only two dials and a tachometer. The fuel supply is reflected on the screen of the on -board computer, and instead of the engine temperature indicator, the lamp signaling about overheating. The climate control unit is grouped into three symmetrical roundwash simply and conveniently, you can immediately figure out what's what.
Although the PEUGEOT 301 decoration uses hard plastic, the feeling of cheapness, familiar in another French classmate, is not in sight here. Even the windows buttons located on the central console did not cause inconvenience, except for the fact that each time, intending to open the window, I, out of habit, rummaged through the door panel. But sitting in the back seat, reaching for the keys located between the front seats is far and inconvenient. Wasn't it easier to control the windows according to the classical scheme? It turns out no! Such a layout has an important technological advantage in the door do not need to pull the wires, which simplifies the assembly of the machine. By the way, for the same reason, the front speakers were located not at the door, but on a dashboard.
I first try the most powerful sedan and disappointed. No, the car goes well, and the traction unit forgives errors in the choice of gears, but the emotional component in the engagement settings and the gearbox here strives for zero. The engine regularly fulfills its task, but does it without enthusiasm, as if a diligent clerk that works from a call to a call, in which there is no more than in an office printer. However, in comparison with the version equipped with an ancient 4 -speed automatic, switching transmission out of place and with pauses, which Stanislavsky himself would envy, the machine on the mechanics is not so bad. But the diesel is magnificent: the Peugeot 301 does not go with him, but flies! Yes, and a 3 -cylinder gasoline unit with a volume of 1.2 liters turned out to be a livestock: due to short gears in the city, a 72 -horsepower sedan is accelerated by the collapse of the 115 -horsepower. True, at a speed over a hundred motor it is sour, and the noise from it becomes too intrusive.
By the way, in the company, Peugeot is the main bet on the 3-cylinder version, and in this choice I fully support the French.
Our verdict
Polo-Sedan and the company received another strong competitor from France. However, before the announcement of prices, to talk about the success of Peugeot 301 early. And the modest production volumes, as well as the lack of plans for the assembly of such sedans in Russia, do not see this model in the bestsellers of the domestic market of budget sedans.
