Test drive Opel Vectra sedan 2002 - 2005 sedan

Examples with a vector

The vector gives a direction. An example is taken as a sample. And yet they are different - Opel Vectra and Nissan Primera.
When we drove up to Nissan to the car dealership, where they trade in opening houses, one of the sellers asked for the keys and, hastily examining the car outside and inside, scornfully curled his lips: Japanese.
Why, frankly, we did not understand. The Swiss designed the new Primera, made it in the UK, where, by the way, under the Vauxhall brand, Vectra ... Most likely, the answer lies in the field of stereotypes - grinning, but continuing to cling to certain brands. Plus, all this, of course, is supported by multi -page catalogs, unbridled PR, disputes about whose EBD is cooler, and other checks of a potential client for twisting, as well as for the coefficient of its streamlines after such irrigation. But what if the buyer is deaf from the birth of Papuas, from the palm of which suddenly scored oil, and he, covering the shameful place with one hand, and in the other, clutching the credit card, appeared to buy a car? He will be guided exclusively by vision, tactile plus the notorious sixth feeling, which will ultimately be true.
Take our example at least by the vector. Cars are almost the same. The dimensions are identical. The gamma of the engines is similar - by the way, for the loafs of both there and there, even the CVT variator is offered. The equipment, security systems ... Even the meaning of the names of the models is similar: a straight line indicating the direction of the application of force, and the role model - Vectra and Primera.
By eye. So, we turn on the vision and examine cars from the outside. Almost vertical headlights of one and the other. Perfectly round swelling over the wheel arches. Even a hard rib, which PREMERA stretches from the front number to the rear, can also be found on the hood of Vectra. The fact that the cars are still different is visible in the profile. If Primera is good for its emotionality-outwardly almost a concept car, it is a pity only burgundy color is not very to her face, then Vectra is conservative and thoroughness. No wonder one of the trump cards on Opel is considered the invisibility of structures located under the bottom of the car - you can’t even see the exhaust pipe.
The Primera Salon will not seem beautiful and convenient perhaps a retrograde. Everything is extremely rational and friendly. Even a bold decision to place the instrument shield not behind the steering wheel, but in the center of the torpedo. If in Nissan the design went hand in hand with concern for comfort and good mood, then in Opel took care that the designer’s work was simply visible. Everything is dry enough, but with a clear claim to respectability: the abundance of straight lines and angles, discreet devices and controls ... Maybe this impression also got out that in Primera the salon was a leather, stylishly led out with a white thread, And in Vectra - swearing, and even mouse color. If we have Elegance equipment, where for extra $ 1870 you can get the skin of the color of coffee with milk, everything would surely look so cloudy.
But the fitting of joints in Opel is simply impeccable: looking at them, for some reason you immediately begin to believe that the company's assurances are in strength and reliability, including a 12-year guarantee from through rust, not just words. Primera in this regard looks more frivolous.
Touch with your hands. Now touch. Inside is almost equally spacious - the base of cars varies by only 2 cm in favor of Opel, however, it is almost 4 cm wider, which is already significant. Vectra seats, even though, are rag, moderately tough, even with a claim to some kind of sports. In Primera, they are comfortable, but nothing more. Opel's steering wheel is chubby, pleasant to the touch, with the control buttons on the upper knitting needles. In Nissan, he is more beautiful than convenient: too thin rim creates the illusion that the steering wheel of a very large diameter.
As for the governing bodies of secondary functions, here we would definitely prefer Primera. A plastic influx under the monitor is really a find: all the buttons and wheels are in a horizontal plane, you can control with this intuitively without taking your eyes off the road. Vectra does not understand without the instruction: a bunch of slurred buttons on the central console plus their close abundance on the driver's door - to open the window, you must carefully aim with your finger.
Fill further. Our Primera had no central armrest. In Vectra, he settled comfortably by the arm, but constantly fucked in the longitudinal direction, the fixation is clearly weak. In the armrest - a single -section glove compartment, narrow and very deep. The standard half-liter bottle will not enter it in height, but if you just score this container with a trifle, then getting something from the bottom will be extremely inconvenient.
Gather carefully. But Opel pleased us with an excess of all kinds of bardic drawers: for trifles, glasses, glasses-including in the back of the cabin. In Nissan - a ball of a roll. Where are the additional 12-volt outlets, hooks, boxes and troughs that are literally stuffed with almera? Or is Primera no longer a family car?
Vectra luggage compartment for two and a half buckets is more spacious. There is a hatch in the back of the rear sofa, which in combination with a tipping back of the front passenger seat will move the stack of long boards. For some reason, Primera does not have a handle on the inside of the trunk cover. And the lid itself has from the inside, as if in a hurry, a lining cut out of the carpet, hastily screwed with self -tapping screws. The continuation of the luggage compartment in the salon and on the other machine is quite narrow, especially in height. Therefore, if you want to carry refrigerators, buy a hatchback or station wagon.
Catch a neutral. Now let's try to activate the same feelings in motion. Primera, whose engine is 0.2 l smaller and 7 hp. Weaker, accelerated noticeably more frowning. On the one hand, this is also confirmed by the data of manufacturers, on the other hand, there were no 10 km on the Vectra odometer and there could be non -vomiting the reason for its clamping. Plus long gears of a five -speed hand gearbox. Primera has six steps, but a handle with very large moves and low information content. Vectra in terms of switching is much more comfortable: the programs are clearly stuck and the new cable drive does not create absolutely no vibration under the palm of your hand.
Both cars are controlled clearly, only in Primera, the rudder reactions are somewhat late. At low speeds, Nissan’s suspension behaves very comfortably, but in sharp turns the body is noticeably rolling, and the tires scream throughout the street. Opel turns turns flawlessly.

In motion, electrical innovations have discovered themselves, with which automakers are trying to lure the buyer. If you do not fasten on Primera, then at speed above 20 km/h from the nasty buzzer you can go crazy. Vectra pleased the indexes of the turn - they are not fixed, and you constantly mislead the neighbors in the transport stream with false winks. In Primera, when the rear gear is turned on, a picture arises of what is happening behind the car. The thing is very cool, but the image is curved as in an apartment eye. By the way, on Vectra, traditional parking sensors are offered as an option for $ 300.
For those who are for. Now let's try to get together with thoughts and summarize. In our opinion, he was encrypted precisely in the names of the models. Primera - for cheerful youth, who had solved tasks at the desks yesterday. Vectra - for those whose age and level of knowledge already allow you to understand vector graphics. By the way, the manufacturers themselves confirm our guess. The main Target Group of the new Vectra on GM is seen as demanding buyers for the quality of 45 years and older. However, if you have chosen Nissan younger, you still do not regret: over time, your car, according to the same hard -toed stereotypes, will still become Olesham.
