Test drive Opel Omega Sedan 1999 - 2003 sedan
Available luxury or Opel Omega
Opel Omega lives on the conveyor in the last days. Nevertheless, this large sedan is still an interesting offer in the market, since for a completely moderate price it offers its customers a lot. What exactly? First of all, an unusually spacious comfortable interior and roomy trunk. And also - an impressive list of standard and additional equipment. Finally, it is safe to say that nine years of production went to Omega to the benefit, since the car finally got rid of all childhood diseases and the flaws of assembly - we personally became convinced of this.In fact, having wound around the car more than one circle, leaving the entire salon along and across, we did not find any serious flaws. No, this Opel is kind in everything. Its impressiveness is created by considerable dimensions of the body, massive bumpers and ... remember the Gogol description of Sobakevich? Here is the same here: whatever the gaze, everything is large, heavy, for centuries. A huge Opel emblem on a false radiator grille. Very expressive optics. And magnificent, from the point of view of active security, external mirrors: in these chopped burdocks you will see everything that is happening behind the car ...
Salon? Amazingly huge. However, his advantages are not exhausted by this. The fact is that we got the most expensive version of Executive, which does not include only those lotions that not every buyer needs (for example, an automatic transmission, a partially blocked differential or hatch - why does it, if there is a separate climate control? ). But this copy was packed even beyond this level, so there was no need to complain about equipment. Wherever you throw a gaze - black skin is everywhere. The front seats with electric drive, and you can adjust them even when there is no key in the ignition lock. And everywhere - all kinds of pockets and boxes. In the backs of the front seats, in all doors, in the armrest of the driver. And the same variety of lighting devices: above the back doors, in front and even in anti -loner visors. A separate air conditioner was mentioned, but did not say that individual air was also brought in the rear passengers.
Alas, one annoying defect was found. Following the sake of the general style, the armrests of the doors (both front and rear) were made original in terms of design, at the same time placed spacious pockets under them, but for some reason they did not think about the comfort of passengers. Perhaps this opinion is subjective, but putting a hand on such a board is inconvenient, not to mention the fact that there is no handle under a natural grip. But there are two solid hinged armrests of leather: one in the middle of the rear sofa, and the other between the front seats, which is also equipped with two boxes.
To open the trunk, I had to use the help of the hall, that is, to ask for information support from the dealer. The fact is that outside there is no button or a keyhole; The lid opens only remotely: from the key fob or at the signal of the button on the dashboard. Cunningly. But you know, these measures are worth it, because even a lot of good will enter the sedan trunk (though the board is high). And you can still back the backs of the rear seats. Moreover, the number of options is admired: you can add one sector, two or three, and it does not matter which side. And who will say that the business class sedan does not need it ... Give me a stone, I will be the first to throw into it!
Well, now you can drive. What can I say? Without a doubt, this is Opel. To the left of the steering wheel - Kruglyash, the head of the inclusion of dimensions, near light and fog. Nearby is the dashboard illumination regulator, which at the same time changes the brightness of the glow of the on -board computer. The combination of devices cannot be recognized as successful, the speedometer slightly covers the tachometer, which allows you to bring the devices closer to the most and facilitates their readings: you do not need to fumble through the entire panel. The central console attracts attention with inserts under the chrome, but it is worth turning on the engine, and the gaze already attracts the lever of the mechanical gearbox. You put your hand to calm him down, but he still continues to tremble finely. There is nothing to be done - Omega!
In general, mechanics here are not at all appropriate. It is worth it to sit in this leather chair, fit it under yourself, find the electric drive buttons, fit it under yourself, take the steering wheel in your hands and ... and is no longer drawn to go anywhere! So cozy, so quiet and warm ... But you have to check the running qualities! And to do this on summer rubber, while at your disposal only a snowy site is difficult. The possibilities of a V-shaped 2.6-liter gasoline six can be guessed only by the intensity with which the drive wheels begin to slip (we turned off the track control). But still, we slightly accelerate and begin to amuse ourselves: a deep skid to the right, as deep to the left ... So far, it is only possible to state that the hydraulic wrap is too clearly not late, and the accuracy of the steering claims to be moderate.
A small section of the road cleared from snow allows you to slightly feel the holes of the engine and evaluate the stability of the car. As for the motor, there are no revelations, although its elasticity can be noted. But the suspension was slightly surprised: despite the clearly comfortable setting, it provides very good stability on the road. Interestingly, how would the car behave in extreme modes? However, this is not his element. Omega, even with a powerful engine, in no case claims the title of Driver's Car. After all, this Opel offers smoothness and softness in everything. And those 180 hp that hid under his hood are needed not for frantic acceleration - rather for self -sufficiency. And just in this car is just a machine gun.
Opinion Ag:
On the side of the omega is a spacious salon, high comfort, excellent equipment. The main drawback is that the model will soon be discouraged, which will further reduce its cost in the secondary market.
