OPC? No Biturbo Diesel
I mentioned Mondeo by chance: whatever one may say, he is the main rival of Insignia. Especially now, when it is offered with a powerful 200-horsepower Duratorq TDCI turbodiesel. The new Insignia Biturbo has a little less than 195 forces. Compact turbodieseli (204 horsepower) also have similar in return, the Peugeot 508 and Citroen C5, Volvo, and premium brands like BMW with a Mercedes. At the same time, 58 percent of the insignia family sales in the European market occupies a 160-horsepower modification of 2.0 CDTI, which means that there are enough people who want to acquire an even more powerful turbodiesel, which can also be equipped with all-wheel drive.
Interior
The interior of INSIGNIA during a light technical update has not undergone significant changes. But the quality of execution has now become noticeably higher.
On INSIGNIA appeared a more perfect second -generation Opel Eye camera. Thanks to it, the work of recognition systems of road signs and control over the movement of movement improved.
All versions with a mechanical transmission are now equipped with a Start/Stop system, which dramatizes the engine when stopping. You can turn off a slightly nervous system with the ECO button on the instrument panel.
The diesel presented in Spain uses two turbochargers. The schema of their work is quite traditional: at low speeds a small turbine is blowing, at high large ones. Double-team in action, this design provides a flat shelf of torque and the absence of any noticeable turbocharger. However, the new Biturbo from Opel, it turns out, is no longer a novelty.

As the chief engineer in diesel engine in Opel, Massimo Giraud, Biturbodiesel was supposed to be launched into production immediately after the InSignia model to the market, back in 2008. But then the crisis struck, and it was decided to postpone the sophisticated engine to Ryusselham bins, from where they got it only now.
The declared 400 nm of the maximum torque is available in a rather narrow revolution range from 1750 to 2500, but the rest of the time the driver can use 350 Newtonians without a residue. But these are numbers, but in fact, the spirit does not take the spirit from the agility of the new Biturbodiesel. Confident craving yes. Mistaken with the program? It's okay, it will pull out.
The autobahn rides silently, the vibration load is weak. Everything is quiet, decorinely, noble. Modernly. But there is not enough light.

And the sound of the right is also lacking. It is difficult, of course, to put a voice to a low -degree diesel, but as I would like his sound to correspond to the status of the motor. Moreover, otherwise everything is very good: everything is in order with the dynamics, the acceleration is dense and weighty. It is also convenient to control the traction, with the exception of very low revolutions, when for some reason there is not enough moment and yes! You can stall at starting from the place.
The fuel consumption on the highway is small, although it does not fit one and a half times in the five liters per hundred declared by the manufacturer. But he wanted and rushed through the German unlimited at a speed of 200 kilometers per hour, Biturbo allows.
Of course, I reassure myself, I still need to check how the motor will behave on the winding, with the changes in the heights of the serpentines. However, with the motor, everything is already, in principle, clear. And he is not attracted to the mountains, but the Supersport package, which now can be equipped (as an option) all all -wheel drive modifications of Insignia. And our Biturbo is just with a 4x4 nameplate on the trunk lid.
To be honest: I did not immediately understand what was the matter. I drove the Portuguese serpentines and could not figure it out: either I had not traveled to Insignia for a long time, or the suspension became tougher, and the car itself is much more accurate in control. But the answer turned out to be simple: our insignia was equipped with a HIPERSTRUT suspension with separate rotary fists in front of the ORS model.

In Russia, until recently, all-wheel drive versions with a two-liter turbo-four (250 horsepower), a 160-horsepower turbodiesel or with a 2.8-fraud V6 were sold. However, the version with V6 is now not for sale, so Biturbo, in case of entering our market, will replace it. Accordingly, Supersport suspension can only be ordered for these three models. In Germany, such an option costs about 5,000 euros or 200 thousand rubles for our money.
Moreover, such cars are that with a steep suspension are immediately equipped with rear active differential. Which was also borrowed from ORS. But why all this is a family sedan and even more so the Sports Tourer station wagon?
A car with a 160-horsepower turbodiesel is a more rigid suspension, self-block, huge discs and evil perforated brakes from Brembo, perhaps, really, nothing. But for Biturbo just right!
Hiperstrut suspension, sharp steering wheel, all -wheel drive, self -block on the rear axle of Insignia with Supersport package has everything you need for an active drive.
And the new 195-horsepower turbodiesel is very suitable for this machine.
Here, with the dynamics and the avalanche of the moment that the new motor provides, everything is all -wheel drive, and the lock, and the cunning suspension. Separate rotary fists on the front axle make the car control of the car, but accurate, not burdened with parasitic moments. The desired angle of rotation of the steering wheel in the turn is determined the first time. A little more arrogance, a little more than gas, slightly larger than speed, and Insignia is happy to switch herself into a turn, redistributing the moment between the wheels of the rear axle.
On the slightest movement of the steering wheel, the car reacts immediately, but the accelerator is not so sharp, slightly inert in its reactions.
Insignia with a Supersport package is a rather hard car. But if in Europe you catch high from this rigidity, then we will rather think about the safety of the teeth.
Hard. Tough even in the most comfortable Tour of the Flexride mascara mecron chassis with adjustable shock absorbers. And in sports in general only on flat roads. Moreover, the difference between the modes is small and is really felt only when traveling to the limit. In the tour, you feel increased rolls and slowing reactions to both gas and steering wheel. In sports, the car seems more collected. There is a fully automatic mode, which adequately adapts to the road surface and driving manner.
But in any case, in Russia, only a person who is gently moving along good asphalt can afford such a suspension. Lucky, for two reasons: because he has where to ride, and also because he only knows all the charms of Hiperstrut pendants with a passive chassis such a pendant is not put.
Going by car with all -wheel drive and HipermStrut suspension is much more fun than in the front -wheel drive version.
The Supersport version is much more exciting, and at the exit from the turn, the all -wheel drive transmission redistributes the moment in such a way as to prevent slipping. The hook is much better, and the rear differ allows you to effectively steal the rear axle in the turns.
InSignia front -wheel drive with the same engine are equipped with familiar MacPherson with less rigid shock absorbers. There are no Brembo brakes here and, accordingly, the rear self -locking differential. But as a result, insignia on such a suspension is much better adapted to ordinary life.
And the difference between Flexride modes is much better felt on cars with a regular suspension than with a suspension from the OPS version.
The Tour version here is frankly melancholy, lethargic gas, the most comfortable ride. In sports, Insignia seems to want to reach the heights of the superport, bringing the rigidity of the chassis to the limit accessible to it, but in terms of accuracy the chassis still does not reach the older model. In addition, the lack of full -wheel drive gives insight in a pronounced insufficient rotation, and at the exit from the turns, the unloaded front wheel often shoves the whole thrust of the new biturbodiesel.

But even if they appear, it is unlikely to fundamentally affect the sales of the InSignia family: the suspension is not about our roads and the price of the car in such a configuration will certainly get into a level of 1.7 million rubles, with which the real versions of OPCs are already starting . Machine? They promise. In any case, the decisions will have to wait until late spring, or even summer.

Peugeot 508 GT 2.2 HDI. For the most powerful Peugeot 508, even a special version of GT was invented. Its essence in the reconfiguration of suspensions: instead of MacPherson in front, a two -width is installed. It costs 508 GT from 1,479,000 rubles. The gearbox is only a six -speed machine. In Russia, it is sold only with front -wheel drive. GT with a 204-horsepower engine is able to accelerate to 238 kilometers per hour, and exchanges the second hundred in 8.2 seconds.
Citroen C5 2.2 HDI.
