Nissan X-Trail test drive since 2011 SUV

No dirt!

We love all -wheel drive transport. Moreover, in a perverted form, from hopelessness, because even in the city just for the trouble-free all-season parking is required something like a Bigfoot. Not everyone can afford such happiness, and therefore, as a palliative, wide masses with increasingly frenzy are bought out by different -sized city crossovers.

Jokes jokes, but this time we have to evaluate the condition of, perhaps, the most warding SUVs of Nissan X-Trail and Toyota Rav4. Both machines can be safely called with iconic figures in this segment: one way or another, any automaker is looking at them, intending to create something, at least with a stretch of the SUV category, that is, a car with the body of the body a la SUV + complete drive unit.

Outwardly, these machines have as much in common as the ship's engine with a schoolgirl's night fantasies. The external design of the RAV4 traditionally plays the traction of the fairer sex and the tolerant individuals who sympathize with everything that resembles the very plush bear, with whom they once went to kindergarten. If there are fashionable faces on the body, then they look emphasized peacefully. The bend of the roof line (despite the fact that pronounced) does not even hint at aggression. Continuous energetic elasticity and sports. At the first fleeting look at the muzzle of a car of any person, the question inevitably pierces: who so torn off Corolla?! But then it still reaches that it is RAV4 of the grimace of a corporate identity, nothing can be done. With X-Trail, everything is different. At one time, the Nissanists decided to find out how they want to see the new (that is, the current) X-Trail Potential buyers. It turned out that people need it exactly the same as the previous one. Which, you know, is very characteristic of Nissan X-Trail lovers. These are people who prefer to believe that they are driving an SUV, not a SUV. After all, everyone knows that the subdivorous dirt grounds of the recent past had all the style of a street stall with ice cream! Then a man in a car designed by a cubist designer felt like the king of the road, absorbed the fluids of fears and envy emanating from the neighbors in the stream. Or thought that he was absorbed in one way or another, but the X-Trail is addressed to those who are inclined, may the adherents of tolerance be forgiven for the greater external manifestation of masculinity. He emphasized brutalen. For the SUV, of course. Boxed forms, only slightly blurred for the sake of modern fashion trends, arcs with exchange rate spotlights integrated in them, what else is needed to maintain the image of me, I am also a jeep!? And despite the fact that all the felt-tip pens are different for taste and color, and the front and rear headlights X-Trail are decorated much more interesting than similar RAV4 details.

Inside the differences between the car are no less noticeable. Toyota Rav4 in this sense flesh from the flesh of the passenger line of the brand. All devices and controls in the right place, the materials of the decoration are of high -quality, but nothing more. Formally, thoughtfully, comfortable. But boring. Japanese Volkswagen in all its glory. There are two bright spots in the cabin. The first panel of the devices in front of the driver. Three circular indexes: the speedometer in the center is imposed on a tachometer, and the temperature and supply indicators are combined. In the center of the composition, right on the speedometer, the poisonous orange screen of the on-board computer. The second ray of light in the Dark Kingdom of the Froded multimedia-navigation complex in the upper part of the central console. Note that the algorithm for communicating with him seemed too complicated to us (compared to a similar device on X-Trail, where everything is immediately intuitive). Yes, and the installed navigation program in Toyota has amused: the names on her map, as it should be, are Russified, and the navigator gives voice commands in English. In the X-Trail, this dissonance is absent. Returning to the theme of the Rav4 salon, we note that the non -resistance here is manifested in only one detail. To the left of the navigation monitor flaunts a button for blocking an inter-axial differential. And all. But here there are steering wheel petals in the manual mode of the variator KP! This, in my opinion, immediately puts all the dots over I on the issue, under the fact that this car is imprisoned. Well, there is also a Sport button to the left of the steering wheel, but about it at one time.

In the X-Trail salon, everything is different. As soon as you sit down at his steering wheel, you immediately feel a large free space around. Here you should not even delve into the TTX tables, looking for and comparing millimeters of the internal space of machines, this is not about that. In the Gorbachevsky, hardening the possible nagging of all sorts of bores, I will only say that the X-Trail, in my opinion, in its class is in the first place in terms of the sensation of the spaciousness in the cabin. The instrument panel looks in its own way: two circular arrow signs (speedometer and tachometer) and the on-board computer monitor between them. Its color scheme for indicating white according to black gives the entire tidy an element of a certain cold severity. But it looks pretty. Well, the organization of the transmission management (also variator, by the way) is just a hymn to an off-road image. The branded twist next to the KP lever allows you to independently indicate the electronics in which of the three modes the owner will deign to go. You can move along the asphalt exclusively on the front -wheel drive, you can bravely move to the primer, turning the joystick into the locust position, or not bother and shift the flour of electronics, setting the Auto mode

Serious differences in the behavior of a car were not a surprise on the go. Although at first the dynamic characteristics of Toyota were disappointed. The car frankly did not rode. But it was necessary to scold a new 2-liter 158-horsepower gasoline engine exactly until the moment when the already mentioned Sport button was caught on the steering wheel. One press and from a dull fuel economist, the machine instantly turned into a vigorous amateur to burn off the traffic lights. The reactions of the motor to press the gas pedal became energetic, the working turns increased, the KP cheered up to go to go. The suspension added pleasant sensations. Her energy intensity was frankly pleased. At the same time, the car is by no means felt like a stool and at the same time does not fall to the side in the turns. Everything is in motion under the control of the driver, you steer without tension not only on asphalt, but also in bumpy primer.

X-Trail, with its 2.5-liter gasoline about 169 horsepower, did not retreat from the image of the SUV. Although the sporting of the Communist Party is not provided here, the dynamics of the machine is basically good. But acceleration is somehow heavy, as if you were driving a much more massive car. And this despite the fact that, according to manufacturers, to hundreds, this Nissan accelerates 0.7 seconds faster than RAV4 (10.3 seconds against 11 seconds). And according to the subjective feelings of Toyota is faster. And in the turns of the X-Trail, it noticeably earlier begins to frighten its riders with rolls. But on the highway in it you feel like on a walking ship everything happens smoothly and evenly. However, large potholes extract much more noise and vibrations from the suspension than this happens in RAV4.

What else surprised was the real fuel consumption of both cars. When driving along the Toyota Rav4 highway, it limited 9.5 liters of gasoline per hundred, and the Nissan X-Trail appetite was 13.5 liters. Knowing that the weight of the machines is approximately the same (about 1.6 tons), we decided that the Cubic aerodynamics of the X-Trail was to blame. In the city, the difference in fuel consumption has changed, but not much. In the absence of deaf plugs, X-Trail burned about 14 liters per 100 kilometers of mileage, and RAV410.511. In conclusion, we say that the X-Trail with a 2.5-liter engine and the variator will cost the buyer at least 1,200,000 rubles, and the prices for an all-wheel drive RAV4 with a 2-liter engine and a variator begin about 1,100,000 rubles.
