Such a car was the ultimate dream for many people who rose that have risen. But the glory of those first patrols passed when Pajero and Cherokee appeared on our starving foreign cars, and after them G-Klasse and Land Cruiser. And the Nissan Patrol was even written off in the category of workhorses - the diesel engine did not respond to the naval requests of consumers of large -sized jeeps, which did not allow the entire Slavic soul to turn around.
Vankina hat. Having lost their market share in the diesel fraction, having struggled with gray imports from the Emirates, the Japanese stopped the discussions about the mysterious Russian soul and went on the reason - Russia is the only country in Europe, where the new Patrol GR with a 4.8 -liter gasoline engine is delivered. In the appendage to this engine, a complete set of options is offered - inside the gasoline Patrol looks like an exhibition of achievements of the Japanese automobile economy.
The salon is only leather, with perforation, like the steering wheel. WHO ARE YOU? The appearance of the new Patrol GR 4.8 is slightly different from the previous versions of this SUV. Firstly, a new front bumper appeared with fog lights integrated into it. Secondly, a chrome false radiator recess now is now a new shape. The external doors and rear -view mirrors are also covered with shiny metal. Thirdly, there are wide steps. To the latter, we express our first claims - the functionality of this tuning is doubtful. You have to get out of the Nissan either by begging, like a hereditary cavalryman, or just jump out - otherwise the trousers will be hopelessly spoiled.
Alas, behind the new Patrol, the old design is still an asymmetric, sewing double door. This is not very pleasant, if only because the main sash weighs like an entrance door to a bank store. And in order to really get to the trunk and put at least a bag with a dozen beer there, you need to open both sashs. This work is quite tedious, you have to console yourself with the fact that regular use of the trunk will completely replace the no less regular visit to the gym ...
However, with a solid volume of this trunk - 2287 liters - numerous glove compartment, pockets and even secreters who are scattered in abundance may well argue? On the salon. So the already mentioned beer will easily be placed in bulk even in the glove compartment between the driver and the passenger - it is to match the total size of Patrol GR.
Asphalt disease. But enough of the small one. By and large, with a new gasoline engine of almost 5 liters of Nissan Patrol, he jumped through several steps and now stands on the same site with prestigious American off -road monsters. Although there is one significant difference between them: the Nissan motor, unlike competitors comparable in terms of power, is a in -line six, which works significantly smoother than V8 of the same volume. And add here several Nissan secrets that significantly increase the power and characteristics of the torque of the motor of 4.8 liters. For example, thanks to the use of a gas distribution phase change system (VTC), torque has increased significantly at low speeds - this is good on off -road. An electromagnetic valve was installed in the intake manifold of the new engine, which changes its length. At high speeds, this valve opens and increases the torque and engine power.
Step forward, step back. Another gasoline engine is now aggregated exclusively with a more prestigious automatic 5-speed transmission with the possibility of manual gear shifts. Our opinion is subjective, but still. Having tested the capabilities of automatic transmission on the highways and off -road, we did not experience shock and trepidation. We formulate the thought as follows. There are no complaints about acceleration of the car - in automatic mode in the traffic lights, Patrol easily leaves most cars behind. Only you need to be extremely careful - at the time of sharp acceleration or slowing, the car begins to gently scour. For which we say thanks to the good old off -road structure called the dependent front suspension. Still, the insoluble bridge was not created for Street Racing. Patrol behaves much more comfortable in open areas of the highway - the speed is gaining smoothly, without thoughtful reactions to the work of the gas pedal.
But in manual mode, the box has some lag - when overtaking it is better to swing the lever back more than once, but two, to cross from the fifth, say, transmission to the third. Only then is the effect of a sharp acceleration, as with good kikdown. So manual mode is best used to be off -road to move in in a way.
Field exercises. This, by the way, is not an assumption, but a proven fact. Because, having moved from the asphalt to the field, we immediately got stuck. The soil was still quite wet after the recent rain, and the engine speed began to fall rapidly as we wound the dirt on the wheels. We tried to put pressure on the gas in order to keep the momentum within the limits that guarantee the maximum torque, but the transfers in automatic mode constantly jumped up and down.
The experiment was repeated an hour later, after the Patrol, who was sitting to the bridges, was dug up, but this time in manual mode. In the second program, Patrol safely crawled over the entire field, overcame a rather steep hill (here they are, the possibilities of the disconnected stabilizer of the pine stability) and returned us back to the highway. Only there we found that we forgot to turn on a reduced gear ... By the way, we did not turn on the hard locking of the rear differential either. And all these off -road lotions are included in the standard equipment of the Patrol GR gasoline. And they also thanked the rubber, the universal purpose of which clearly did not correspond to our route - an ordinary conveyor model.
