Nissan has chosen the surroundings of Lake Geneva as a platform for the first large-scale press drive of the new Nissan Murano. By accident or intentionally, but his route passed exactly around Cern. That's just, unlike the launch of the tank, the testing of the second generation of Murano passed without incidents. The wiring did not fail, and on narrow mountain serpentines of the French Alps, we were able to appreciate the character of the beginner.
The appearance of Murano has become even more sporty and muscular. Having preserved the general silhouette lines of the previous generation, the new car borrowed some exterior elements from the Nissan Qashqai: rear door glass and elegant horizontal triangular lanterns, which replaced with a bulky vertical, evolve very unambiguous associations.
If the first-generation Murano five years ago became the first sports crossover of the Japanese brand, then his heir went even further by taking a step into the highest society: the first time in a business class! A radically updated luxurious salon in the style of the club living room leaves no doubt about the new Murano belonging. Expensive leather upholstery of black or beige with double stitching, aluminum inserts, pleasantly modified central console and dashboard with control buttons on the ribs of cylindrical devices, soft variable backlights fully correspond to the ideas about the comfort of a business class car. All auxiliary functions of transformation of the cabin are as automated as possible. In addition to the natural electric controllers of the front seats and the remote control of the luggage compartment door, Murano even got the back of the back row of seats.
Adaptive steering and a new multi-link suspension added comfort to both the driver and passengers, also pushing Murano into the arms of the business class. The new Murano was created on the same D-class platform as Teana. Additional transverse ribs made it possible to increase the stiffness of the platform for twisting by immediately 45%. In general, this affected the controllability and stability of the car very well, only in the pursuit of comfort in Nissan they still pardoned a little. The reptile stability stabilizer clearly lacks stiffness. In high -speed turns, Murano is very fucked in a transverse plane, as if specifically in order to demonstrate another not the strongest side of its character: very mediocre side support of the front seats. However, this is perhaps all the negative, which you will be able to find in the new Murano with all the desire. As for the engine and the transmission, Nissan Murano is not so flawless, but still very close to the ideal.
The vulled Nissan VQ series, marked by so many awards both on this and especially on the other side of the Atlantic, became even more powerful and economical. Due to the decrease in their own friction of mobile details, a decrease in detonation and cosmetic changes in the design of the motor block, the same volume became 18 hp. more powerful 252 hp The maximum torque grew from 318 to 334 nm, and the average fuel consumption, on the contrary, decreased by almost one and a half liters: from 12.3 to 10.9 liters. Naturally, such a pleasant positive dynamics of the growth of Murano characteristics is explained not only, and maybe even not so much further evolution of the engine as a comprehensive modernization of the transmission. Installation of bearings with a low friction coefficient, new seals and some other updated parts led to a 20 percent decrease in friction losses. Changes in the pressure adjustment system and the introduction of a new microprocessor that controls the transmission process of an unheard of the Xtronic CVT variator made it possible to significantly optimize the switching process, making it more smooth and fast.
The ALL Mode 4x4 - I -i vellectual all -wheel drive system with an electromagnetic coupling provides the ability to transfer up to 50% torque to the rear wheels. At the same time, at speeds of up to 80 km/h, All Mode 4x4 - I works with a lead, providing for the possibility of slipping the front wheels in advance, based on the position of the throttle and torque, and passing the torque to the back axis, without waiting for the situation when the wheels begin to lose Road clutch. At speeds of over 80 km/h, the system works already without lead, reacting only to the actual slippage of the wheels. But, it should be recognized that such a threshold for reactivation of the leading system is quite large. In general, during the Alpine test, Nissan Murano showed himself as a most balanced car that is quite relevant to the fundamental criteria of business class. And most importantly, unlike the notorious collider, the new Nissan crossover is not ephemeral, but a completely held project, the successful future of which has no doubt.

But the game is still worth the candle: at least the owners of the Nissan Murano now no longer have to worry about polishing dust scratches and scuffs.
