For the first time, Outlander was presented to the general public in 2001 at the Detroit car dealership in the form of a prototype under the Mitsubishi ASX brand. And after only a few months, the inhabitants of the Land of the Rising Sun could already purchase a serial machine, which received the name Airtrek. The premiere of the European version of the outlander (worked on its design in the California studio of Mitsubishi) in 2003 at the Geneva Motor Show. Despite the emergence of a new XL model in 2006, the production of the old still continues due to stable customer demand.
There are more than 10 options for designing the front and rear optics. This should be considered when buying a car and ordering spare parts.
United Europe
Machines intended for the European and Russian markets differ only in the degree of anti -corrosion protection in the latter it is much more powerful.
Officially, cars with in-line 4-cylinder engines are supplied to us 2.0 (136 hp) and 2.4 (160 hp). The more powerful is equipped with a proprietary system for changing the phases of gas distribution and the height of the MIVEC valves (Mitsubishi Valve Timing and Lift Electronic Control System). Since 2004, Russian and European buyers have also been offered a deformed engine of Lancer-Evolyushn with a volume of 2.0 liters, which produces only 202 hp. (In the donor, this indicator is 265 hp). All cars have a permanent drive to all Wheels Full Time 4WD, equipped with a differential with a lock using viscousyft.
The engines of the weakest and the most powerful stranger are aggregated only with 5-speed mechanics, while owners of machines with a 2.4-liter engine could choose a 4-speed adaptive automatic machine InVeCS-II Sports Mode, allowing gearboxes manually.
Initially, only two Comfort and Sport configurations were offered, and after restyling, conducted in 2004 (arches extensors appeared, the radiator grille changed, the square fog of the fogs gave way to the front and rear optics), the first renamed Invite, the second on Intense and added versions and added versions Instyle and Turbo.
Outlanders in the poorest configuration of Comfort (and only of them) equipped with a 2-liter engine, as well as ABS, front-by-front drivers of the driver and front passenger, air conditioning, electric windows and heated mirrors, immobilizer, curtain in the luggage compartment, 16-inch stamping disks with caps. They also have audio training, including 4 speakers, wiring and antenna. In Sport (intense), to everything else, they added side pillows, climate control, a couple of speakers, a leather finish of the steering wheel, levers of the box and hand brakes, extensors of arches painted in the color of the mirror body and moldings. Outside, this and more expensive version of Instyle is easy to identify by tinted rear windows and wheels of light alloy. The latter, by the way, also flaunts 17-inch wheels (instead of 16-inch), leather salon, headlight washing and two hatches (front with electric drive, rear motionless). Well, the TURBO equipment in terms of equipment almost completely repeats instyle, with the exception of additional aluminum linings on the pedals and seats trimmed with Alcantara. A little changed the rear suspension: its levers are designed specifically for this version. Externally, the car is given by the cooler of the cooler on the hood, reduced by 25 mm (up to 170 mm) clearance and emblem on the rear right wing.

The easier the better
In the American market, outlanders began to sell in the same 2003. It was also originally offered here only two levels of equipment LS and XLS, however, with the only possible engine of 2.4 liters (140 hp) and only with an automaton. The local cars differ from their European counterparts by the optics (moreover, in order to redo light to the European one, you will have to change not only headlights, but also a washer tank), bumpers (stamping for square numbers and additional overall lights in the rear) and antenna placed on the front right wing (Europeans on the roof behind). Often there are cars without ABS, with rear drum brakes and with the drive only to the front axle (even in expensive trim levels).
The simplest LS set of LS is recognized by the absence of fog, black dials with green backlight and red rear lights. The XLS dials are white with red backlight, the rear optics are transparent, the steering wheel and lever are lined with skin, 6 speakers against 4 and there are minor differences in decorating the cabin.
In 2005, they conducted restyling, changing optics, bumper and moldings. The engine power was raised to 160 hp, it became possible to order a mechanical box for the LS version. The new Limited equipment implied (in addition to the XLS, which was renamed the SE) the presence of side pillows, painted in the color of the body of mirrors, moldings, expanders of arches and leather salon.
Almost all cars, except the richest versions, are equipped only by air conditioning and do not have washer and headlights of headlights. But the outlanders intended for this region have a cruise control and absorb 92nd gasoline without problems.

Hot realities
Foreigners sold in the Middle East in our secondary market are quite rare and mainly in rich trim levels. They differ from Europeans only by the lack of heating, more powerful air conditioners, weak anti -corrosion processing, a zoomer that triggers when it reaches a speed of 120 km/h and other engines settings. They are offered here two: a volume of 2.4 liters with the MIVEC system (181 hp), without it (139 hp). Also on the choice of a mechanic or machine gun. The codes of many spare parts for these machines do not correspond to European, so you will have to order the necessary vin through specialized offices.
NOT FOR ALL
Airtrek, sold in the domestic market of Japan, is essentially another car, although outwardly very similar to their brothers. It is not only about external differences (optics, bumpers, the design of the front) and the location of the steering wheel, but also about the interior decoration. So, the machine gun selector is not located on the floor, but on the tide of the central console.
As for the engines, their choice is quite wide. Buyers were offered two -liter engines with a capacity of 126 and 240 hp. (version of Turbo R), as well as 2.4-liter, issuing depending on settings 133, 136 or 160 hp. All of them worked only paired with a machine gun (4- or 5-step). Each modification can be equipped with a drive to the front or on all wheels. Only the version with a turbocharged version does not have a monotive performance.
In abundance, options that are not proposed in other countries are found. For example, wood, MD player, LCD monitor, navigation, etc. One word primary source.
