So they waited. The new B-Class reached us. And by the way, the premiere of it took place back in September 2011. However, as they say, the expectation of the holiday is sometimes better than the holiday itself. Perhaps in most cases this is so, but not this time. The new Mercedes-Benz B-Class really met the expectations of most fans of this brand. We will look at him on the other side from those who are just looking at the cars of the premium segment.

Experts of the brand claim that the car has become 5 cm below is thrown into the eyes right away. We do not take neither refute nor confirm this statement. But the fact that its design has become much more interesting, an irrefutable fact. And even if we got a car in the test in a notate the richest configuration, that is, without xenon optics and threads of daytime running lights in the bumper, everything looks very fresh. Giving the body a more aerodynamic shape, the designers did not lick him much, and this allowed the car to stay in a practical form factor. In addition, the model did not lose its family stature. In general, the appearance was a success.


A rather pleasant salon, not devoid of sports notes, while quite cozy

No less interesting is the salon. The first thing that catches the eye is the original shape of the air duct. Five chrome crossings will literally aim at you with their trunks. However, the trunks can be unscrewed, for that they are air ducts, but the central monitor, deliberately displayed by a separate element, will not work. The solution is how interesting, so controversial. Imagine what will happen to the navigator left in the car at night. Introduced? Now imagine that this very monitor on the instrument panel is fixed quite thoroughly. By the way, not in all trim levels this display displays navigation. In our case, only a multimedia component was tied to it. The management of it is concentrated on the Joystick-circle, which is located on the beard of the central console. Although a rather ergonomic hand hit the place immediately, however, during the communication with the car, this very twist several times involuntarily touched the sleeve of the jacket, which led to an unauthorized change in radio frequency.


There are plenty of legs behind the back, only the seats are short

Talking about the ergonomics of the new Beach, one cannot help but recall the steering wheel switches. As before, the left is responsible for everything, and a little more, but the right for those who cross this car after traditional ergonomics will be somewhat mysterious. What a sin to hide, even with a rather great experience in communication with machines of different classes, getting used to this location of the automatic transmission selector is not very simple. But, we must pay tribute, the car asks and prevents unauthorized switching, then demanding to press the brake, or even without reacting to accidental actions with this switch, if a strict algorithm of its work is not performed.

Despite the fact that the car outside does not look very large, it is spacious in the cabin. So, in particular, passengers of the second row may well afford to stretch their legs forward. There are enough places both at the knee level and at the level of the feet. In which case, your legs can be put under the front seats even behind the driver's seat. The main thing is that the driver is not too high. But in the width there is only two. The third here is clearly superfluous.

An increase in dimensions could not but affect the trunk of this family car. Now it has a volume of 488 liters, which in itself is already not bad. If you also fill up the backs of the second row, then the cargo volume even reaches one and a half cubic meters. However, there are disappointments. Under the false floor there is no spare. The maximum that the owner can count on in the event of a puncture is a regular compressor. As they say, sad.
To date, cars with two engines are delivered to us. Both gasoline, with a volume of 1595 cm3. One of them has a power of 122 liters. S., the second 156. We did not have a chance to ride on a less powerful B180, but the Mercedes-Benz B200 was at our disposal.

Before you begin to admire the dynamics and controllability of the car, I would like to mention quite high -quality sound insulation. The car is really very quiet. The fact that the engine works can only be guessed at the arrow of the tachometer. Well, or by light trembling at the time of launch. Equipped with the start-stop system, the engine is jamming each time as soon as you stop, and starts again, it is worth removing the leg from the brake pedal. True, there is one point: this system works only when the automatic transmission selector in the drive position. In the provisions of the neutral and parking, it is necessary to jerk and start the engine yourself. Note that calling an automatic box is still wrong. On the new B-Class there is a robotic mechanical 7-speeded KP with double clutch, which, however, for the layman, by and large, does not matter, the main thing is that it worked smoothly and without tangible shocks when switching. And she just copes with this.

Optionally, B-Class can be equipped with steering control with a changing gear ratio. We were not lucky, there was no such option in our car with the basic configuration, but the usual steering left a pleasant impression. In any case, the connection is the steering of the steering driver here is very confident. There are no complaints about the brakes. But the suspension left a double impression. On the one hand, it is very comfortable even in our conditions, but it is worth getting to an openly broken area, it immediately begins to mutter in displeasure, especially during the end of the end.

As for the dynamics, it is not bad for the car. A completely new 1,6 -fraud engine with turbocharged allows the Beshka to reach the orderly in 8.4 seconds. Moreover, it should be noted that the maximum torque of this motor is 250 nm and is already available from 1250 revolutions. Pretty impressive indicators. But we, alas, failed to turn the fuel consumption. Instead of the declared 7.6 liters in urban conditions, our ward showed all 13. And this is provided that we did not anneal. Perhaps the car has not yet been running in, and if about 3,000 km on the odometer, we would still be able to see a more modest figure. In our case, the car ran from the family only 300 km. However, most likely, she is not destined to settle in the far corner of the test park, because the consumer has interest in the new B-Class.
 
Our verdict
Surprisingly, the new Mercedes-Benz b-Class with such rich equipment (in the basic configuration there is even a system that prevents a clash) does not cost sky-high money and is quite comparable at a price not only with direct competitors, but also with less eminent cars, which is an additional motivation for its acquisition.
