On July 4, 2001, a new, improved version of the compact minivan Premacy G, which is known to be built on the basis of Mazda Familia, appeared on sale. At the same time, the Premacy line was supplemented by the new modification of Sport. Both configurations can have both a 5- and 7-seater salon with three rows of seats.
Shortly before the emergence of new cars on sale, more precisely, on July 20, representatives of Mazda gathered journalists on the Mitsugi test track in the Hiroshima Prefecture to introduce them to the new car and give it the opportunity to try it on the go. Outwardly everything is at a high level
So, Mazda Premacy underwent partial modernization, and in addition to this, it replenished its modification series with a machine of another version. The changes that were made to the car during low modernization were primarily affected by the body. In particular, a suspension was adjusted in a new way - towards its maneuverability, and additional rigidity was given the body.
The replenishment of the modification series occurred due to the release of sports configuration equipped with an engine with a working volume of 1991ss. It is called Sport. From existing modifications, this version is distinguished by an increased engine by 152ssse, a more rigid suspension and 16-inch wheels.
I am tempted to limit myself to a phrase of the type of no significant changes was made. But it will not be entirely true. Since in fact, having retained all its previous advantages, the new modification of Premacy clearly improved its external data. Having a length of slightly more than 4.3 m, which is fully consistent with the length of the compact minivan, it began to look more worthy. And now she will be not ashamed to offer a spoiled European buyer.
Sitting in the cabin became more comfortable
Sitting in a driver's seat, you do not experience any distracting factors. At the level of the head of free space, it is quite enough, so that the dimensions of the body can be easily determined. This became possible thanks to the skillfully executed front panel and the successfully found angle of inclination of the front racks. At least the racks do not look like heavy pillars, as it sometimes happens. Once in the driver’s chair, you find that the body immediately found the desired position, which ensures reliable access to all devices.
Sitting behind the wheel, you can immediately take up the control without looking around and almost without thinking about what and how. In essence, this is a very important circumstance, since it is rarely that the dimensions of the machine (external and internal) and their instant assessment from the driver’s place are combined so successfully.
I can’t say anything bad about the chairs themselves installed in the Premacy salon. True, the driver’s height height is adjusted only by changing the height of the thigh position, in other words, only by raising or lowering the seat itself. But then you feel very good in the chair of the second row. Seats seem to bend slightly under the weight of the sitting, and this causes pleasant sensations. The hind backs, in my opinion, have insufficient height. But this is understandable, because otherwise they could not be completely tilted forward in the event of cleaning the seats of the second row. And without this, it is impossible to ensure that the floor of the enlarged luggage compartment becomes flat over its entire surface. The conditions for the stay of passengers and the driver in the cabin of the new car can be generally evaluated positively.
Income transmission of information
First of all, I decided to try the Premacy modification of Sport. I already had to drive cars on the Mitsugi Mazda Mitsugi test track, so I was ready for its difficulties. However, the fact that this time the riding would be so hard, I still did not expect. Well, a purely sports type of suspension. If next to me in the chair of the front passenger was a man who was on the highway for the first time, I can’t even imagine how he would perceive all this.
I want to say that the car very intelligibly passes the driver information about the road. And if it were evaluated precisely for this indicator, then she could be safely awarded to her the highest score. Probably, the very strengthening of the body played a role here. Premacy did not notice before this move.
The engine develops a rather decent, corresponding to its volume of traction. But those of the buyers who opt for Premacy are unlikely to pay special attention to this. And what definitely will not go unnoticed is the sound accompaniment, which marks every blow of the wheel on the road. This noise penetrates the salon so easily that it even acts slightly on the nerves. According to this indicator, I would personally give preference to the Mazda Demio car. You don’t even help you are very helped by Yokohama tires, which are famous for the fact that they can successfully crush road noise in cars intended for active driving.
MPV does not reach the level
To check my assumption, I moved to the Premacy G salon, which is shown in tires in the size of 195/65 R14, is equipped with a 1.8-liter engine and has all-wheel drive.
Since the car moves in 4 WD mode, the load on the rear bridge should be larger. Maybe that’s why it seemed to me that the craving here is somewhat weaker. But for those who are interested in the cars of the Premacy family, I would recommend this particular modification. In her salon there is no annoying noise that Premacy Sport is distinguished. And judge for yourself: a worthy appearance and decent decoration of the salon, increased hardness of the body, a re -adjusted suspension - what else is needed for happiness?
On this modification, Premacy stands the Bridgestone brand tires, and since they are smaller than tires of the sports version, the steering works, I would say, with a little sticking. No, the steering wheel cannot be called heavy, but, nevertheless, it spins with noticeable resistance. This usually happens when there is not enough pressure in the tires.
The main direction of adjustment of the suspension that Mazda chose, it seems to me, was most clearly manifested in MPV. It is not too long, it has a rather large dynamic move, therefore, the machine retains greater stability. You just have to drive MPV and drive a little, you immediately feel this feature.
If this car is taken as a criterion, then you can regret that the current Premacy does not reach the level of MPV. But, since both cars are produced by the same company, I believe that it will not be difficult to bring the PREMACY suspension quality to the Premacy suspension. Well, for now, I put Premacy on a five -point scale.
