A spacious family car may well be expressive and sensual, like a sports compartment. An example of this is Mazda 6.
Many Japanese brands have recently reproached for gesture. However, it's time to forget about it. Cars from the country of the rising sun are diverse in design and are very advanced in design. The latter was struck by its traditional condo image of Mazda - its latest model with a shortened index, no one can call boring from any point of view.
The designation of a new generation of middle -class models consists of only one digit. This is a hint of absolute novelty, and a reminder of more prestigious versions of Mazda - Xedos, which traditionally have an index from one digit.
Watching the Mazda 6 left in the parking lot, we were convinced that it attracts the attention of passers -by no less than much more extravagant Citroen C3. The main role in this is played by proportions: a long low hood, a wedge -shaped silhouette, a sloping roof. The point of the contours of the side windows and lighting equipment emphasizes the image of a classic sports sedan. And the brilliant volumetric giblets of light blocks, clearly distinguishable through smooth scattering, perform the functions of decorative elements no worse than any moldings.
NOTHING EXTRA. The salon also looks rather trivial if described by words. Sportsness is emphasized by a neat panel of devices with chrome rims of dials and red numbers of an electronic mileage meter, metallized console finish and a lever of gearbox with chrome decoration. In accordance with the current fashion, everything looks quite simple. However, in fact, the car in the top version provided to us for $ 27,800 is very well equipped: climate control, leather interior, hatch. The full-time audio system was a little surprised-although it provides for the windows for the CD, as well as cassettes or MD, in the basic configuration it includes only a tuner and an amplifier. Maybe it would not be worth teasing the owner with a reminder of the missed possibilities?

The design of the console resembles modern audio centers: light metal, stylish endless regulators from matte transparent material. In the dark, they gently shine with orange - in tone the backlight of the dashboard and displays. The climate control logic forced a little strain. To turn on the system on the previously set mode, one key is used, to turn it on in economically - neighboring, but everything turns off - the third. However, many European car manufacturers successfully use approximately the same scheme.
The light control algorithm looks a little archaic: when the lever moves upward immediately after the dimensions, the distant one turns on, and to turn on the neighbor, it turns out, it is necessary to pull the lever on yourself.
However, such trifles are quite characteristic of the Japanese: for example, it is difficult to understand why when opening doors with locked locks, you must first press the lock key - in European models this happens automatically, you just need to pull the inner handle. Or here is the control of the hatch in the roof by means of two keys, one of which commands the rise of the rear edge, and the second - by longitudinal movement. At present, it looks old -fashioned: modern hatches have one control organ - this allows the driver to be less distracted.
Places for the rear passengers on the Mazda 6 do not look as spectacular as the front ones, but they have preserved and increased the main advantage of the predecessor - space. Even if a person is driving more than 1.8 m, there are plenty of space behind. For all three passengers, headrests and belts are provided.
If desired, you can increase the volume of the trunk with backing the back. Like other models focused on the American market, Mazda 6 has a lock from the trunk. In the event that the employee parking is parking, the trunk should not be available from the cabin. If you pull the special handles under the upper edge of the trunk, slightly spring-loaded backs are directly firing forward.
Under the floor of the trunk there is enough space for a full -fledged spare wheel, but in the standard configuration, alas, only a narrow emergency.
It must be listened to. The car looks low, but this did not prevent a fairly large range of adjustment of the driver’s chair in height. The practicality of Mazda also makes itself felt: this function is not provided for the passenger and, moreover, it is deprived of electric drives of adjustment. The driver’s capabilities are expanded by the adjustment of the steering wheel in two directions. And in general, the ergonomics of the workplace is close to the ideal.
But in this case, a good organization of space pleasantly complements the overall impression of the car. The car is emphasized athletic, and the ease of contact allows you to fully enjoy this. It is especially nice to deal with a 2.3-liter engine equipped with a S-VT gas distribution phase system. He is very responsive and is well pulled in a fairly wide range of revolutions. Although, if you want to get really dynamic acceleration, it is better to use higher rotation frequencies. And what a pleasant sound this motor makes! Sometimes it seems that it doesn’t even matter how quickly the car is driving - this roar is enough for pleasure. The exact and soft switching mechanism enhances positive emotions.
True, the designers were a little overdue with the challenging of the steering wheel amplifier. In general, it is well tuned, but it is too frank in regard to the transfer of blows from irregularities - at times the steering wheel almost knocked out of the hands when rebuilt through rolled ruts on the Moscow Ring Road. This is all the more surprising that quite stiff, but a long -flowing suspension in this regard behaved much more modest, rather informing about irregularities than transmitting blows from them. However, all this is quite fit into the image of the machine.
Sport or family? The range of modifications of Mazda 6, which are offered for sale since September this year, is quite extensive. First you need to select the engine. Three four -cylinder gasoline power plants have a block and an aluminum alloy head, as well as 16 valves. The chain drive of camshafts does not need to be maintained throughout the entire life of the car. All modifications are available not only with the sedan body, but also in the form of a five -door hatchback, which will cost $ 400 more. In principle, Mazda 6 also has an option with a station wagon, but at present we are not offered.
The most affordable version with a 120-horsepower 1.8 liter engine costs less than $ 21 thousand. At the same time, the standard equipment includes ABS with the electronic distribution system of brake forces along the axes, four airbags and side puffing curtains, climate control, electric windows and central lock. Like many imported models, heating the seats and external rear view mirrors is mandatory. A pleasant surprise will be the presence on such a relatively inexpensive version of the cruise control. This is probably a sufficient set for a family car. By order of this modification, you can get an anti -boom system (TCS), a system of control control (DCS) and cast discs. On the version with a two -liter engine ($ 23.3 thousand) of TCS and DCS are also available in the basic version, and with a 2.3 -liter engine (from $ 26.7 thousand), cast discs are also put in the standard. For the last two modifications, a leather salon with carbon fiber and hatch in the roof is offered as options. These options will be more attractive for those who want to use the possibilities of sports tuning the chassis to the fullest. To the start of the new model, an increase in the warranty period for Mazda in Russia up to three years is also timed.
