Test drive Mazda Mazda 6 (Atenza) Sedan since 2007 sedan

Mazda 6 station wagon, Italy testing

To conduct a test drive of the new Mazda6 in the variants of the station wagon and hatchback, the city of Rapallo, located on the northern coast of Italy, a few kilometers from Genoa was chosen. Two days were allocated for the car research. And all two I had to travel on the same car - a dark blue station wagon with a 2.5 -liter gasoline engine in maximum configuration. By the way, it was the station wagon who was the leader in Europe among all the first -generation Mazda6. It accounted for 40%of sales (hatchback - 34%, sedan - 26%). But let's start in order.
Exterior
In accordance with general tendencies to enlargement, the car has become larger. The length increased by 75 mm, width by 15 mm, a height by 10 mm, also increased by 50 mm. At the same time, it is worth noting that due to the use of modern materials, the weight decreased by as much as 35 kg.
If the previous Mazda lineup can be safely called a breakthrough, then the current generation is following the traditions not to stop there, another bold throw to the west. All the same bright, recognizable style based on Japanese aesthetics, but each part and car as a whole look more relevant and completed. In general, the appearance of the Japanese succeeded in 100%. I especially liked the rear headlights (fog lights with LED lamps are included in the standard equipment for the European market).
Summarizing, we can say that Mazda 6 is in the package of the station wagon, of course, the most beautiful car of all classmates presented to date.
Interior
Compared to the previous generation of six, there is a huge step forward. If the last model was a strong and not quite pleasant impression of plastic, then this is no longer in the current version. But, despite all efforts, the feeling of real European comfort could not be achieved. The skin of the seats is not the best dressing, the seams are quite rough, the plastic of the torpedo could be better. In general - the notorious Japanese aesthetics.
The sightseeing is very good, thanks to large lateral mirrors, I did not experience a minute of discomfort and practically did not use the rear view mirror. On the right side glass in the luggage compartment, a heater is provided for a better viewing during fogging. Once on a very narrow and winding street, clamped on both sides with stone walls, we did not experience any inconvenience when maneuvering, not to mention the autobahns.
The controls are conveniently located, the windows buttons are adjusted simply remarkably. A strange solution is the location of the control of the radio on the steering wheel, it is on the left, while the cruise control is on the right. Such a solution is found on many models, but it still seems strange. After all, we switch the radio stations and change the sound of the radio much more often than we use a cruise control. And, therefore, it would be more logical to have the music management buttons for the working for most people with the right hand.
The glove compartment is quite roomy, outside the door there is a small recess in which you can put, for example, a fountain pen. Of the minuses for smokers, it is worth noting the lack of lighting of a cigarette lighter. The pedals and place for the left leg are elegantly finished with metal. Sitting comfortably at any place, the driver's seat is regulated in all kinds of directions, the legs for the legs of passengers are enough both in front and behind. At least with a height of 192 cm, I was comfortable both there and there.
And now about the pleasant little things that the station wagon pleased. For example, in Mazda6, the rear seats when folding themselves are pleasantly bouncing forward, getting rid of the need to fuss between the back door and the luggage compartment when placing large -sized objects. It turned out very conveniently. Mazda’s special pride is the folding shelf of the luggage compartment, which they called Karakuri. Its meaning is that when opening the door of the universal trunk, you see how the back regiment automatically folds, freeing up the loading place. In principle, there is nothing special. Similar solutions are used on many models (including our LADA). Although there is no question of any Karakuri, the rear regiment is simply tied with threads to the trunk door. But Mazda decided to raise this idea to a fundamentally new level.
How to go
This machine is created for normal comfortable driving, not for racing tracks. Therefore, we omit the gearboards of the gearbox, as well as the increased rigidity of the crankshaft, and focus on the impressions. The 2.5-liter MZR engine develops the maximum capacity of 170 hp, it is quite acceptable, without any characteristic features and surprises. According to the manufacturer, the new unit is quieter than its predecessor (2.3 liters of MZR) and more economically 0.6 liters per 100 km.
Gasoline consumption:
- Country cycle 6.4 liters
- mixed cycle 8.2 l
- City cycle 11.2 l
Noise insulation does not raise questions at low speeds, but as soon as the speedometer arrow exceeds 110, the noise level in the cabin increases noticeably. Passing at a speed of 150 km/h past the picturesque mountain landscapes (by the way, all the Italian drivers melted the road traffic, no one can withstand the high -speed mode on the paid highway, we did not become either exception) I caught myself thinking that the roads were too flat. To understand stability, there were not enough habitual potholes and pardon. The car behaved perfectly, however, something in its behavior at high speeds was the doubt that everything would be just as well in the conditions of the notorious Moscow Rolency.
I was pleased that the anti -lock brake system, an electronic brake forces regulator (EBD), an emergency braking aid system, the anti -boogging system (TCS) and a dynamic stabilization system (DSC) are included in the list of standard equipment. Functions are extremely relevant in the conditions of our climate.
Our station wagons will so far be sold only with 1.8 liters and 2.0 liters, the official supply of 2.5-liter versions this year is not planned. Touring equipment with an automatic box will cost 837,000 rubles. Also, unfortunately, cars with a navigation system will not supply Russia to Russia.
The story of the features of autotourism in Italy
Having rolled over the vicinity of Genoa and deliciously lunch in a fish restaurant, we decided to wave into 150 km of Milan, drink a cup of coffee. There were three of us in the car - Masha from Topgear, Artem from Car and your humble servant. Half an hour later, the mountains gave way to a plain and after another 40 minutes we arrived in Milan. At the entrance to the city, a small plug formed for about 15 minutes, motorcyclists and owners of scooters in a lot of rows were in many ways. As soon as we got out of the incision, a yellow exclamation mark caught fire on the dashboard - the tire pressure indicator worked. At the same time, a passerby fiercely gesturing drew our attention to the lowered rear wheel. Without expecting a catch, we parked at the sidewalk, and when they got out of the car we stared at the spaced tire spread along the asphalt.
Immediately next to us, a smiling man formed on a scooter, who, on a mixture of Italian with English, began to talk about the garage, which is nearby. While we listened to him from the car, he technically stole the car bag in which all the documents were. Including a passport!
The technology for the shoeing of scattered citizens is as follows: motorcyclists calculate the victim in traffic, in our case it was simple - a car on German numbers, people inside with a map and cameras, clearly, are clearly tourists. Further, in traffic, they are pressed to the rear wheel and imperceptibly pierce it. After the car stops, one of the participants in the divorce distracts the driver and passengers, while the second opens the door from the opposite side, takes from the passenger compartment and hides on its swift moped in the labyrinth of streets.
At the place of the spare, the trunk was discovered by the sabfer, who, despite the round shape, was not able to attach instead of the wheel. It was not possible to use the remote complex, because we did not deal with an ordinary puncture - the side surface of the tire was cut out with a knife.
I had to look for a garage that really turned out to be nearby. However, they refused to repair the wheel there, arguing that the cut is large and it is dangerous to glue it. We returned to the car and found a nearby pensioner who lamented about what had happened, expressively waving his hands. He did not speak English, but was able to explain that he would take us in his car to another garage, where they would guarantee the wheel - with gestures he showed that it was possible to put a large patch from the inside.
Putting the wheel into his car, we went to the garage. On the way, the responsive pensioner constantly said, not so much embarrassed, that we do not understand a word in Italian. The story was repeated - they refused to repair the wheel. I had to buy a new tire for 260 euros! And what did you want the 18th radius. It’s good that they found the right size, and then I had to ride somewhere. The pensioner proposed to leave his phone and take us from the garage when everything would be ready, but we were ashamed to abuse his participation.
Returning to the car, we found Masha talking to the caused police outfit, who arrived at the scene on the new Alfa Romeo 159. The following dialogue took place between them:
- Your documents, please
- I don't have them, they are stolen with a bag
- Okay, then get into the car and follow us to the police, write a statement
“I can't go, you don’t see, the car has no wheel!”
- Mom Mia! A woman without documents, a car without a wheel! Further a long tirade is Italian.
In the end, the police said that they had no time to bother with us and that this was not their business at all, gave us the address of the police station and left, quickly speaking among themselves in increased colors and waving their hands.
Putting the new wheel, we went to the police, suspiciously squinting at the motor -rollers passing by. The application was written in ten minutes, after which Masha took a picture and we went back to Rapallo.
The procedure for obtaining a document that allows you to return to your homeland in the event of a passport loss, as follows:
It is necessary to come to the consulate with a statement from the police and two witnesses who can confirm the identity of a non -passport citizen, you also need to have 2 photos with you and pay 60 euros for drawing up a temporary document. In our case, the whole process took no more than an hour, since the consul kindly agreed to accept us on a non -working day.
