GeneralAmong the numerous Japanese car manufacturers, it was Mazda who has long been famous for its ability to give the car a purely European flavor. This also applies to the predecessor of the modern Atenza car Capella. Of course, the ATENZA model that appeared in May has largely preserved these features and to date won 50 prizes, not only in Europe, but throughout the world.
Now in the ATENZA model range a new category of car 23Z. Hearing what the engineers themselves call it - the developers (they say Two, Three, Z), you can easily imagine how serious, or, if you want, they are closely related to this development. By the way, the current improvements used in the car themselves call the engineers themselves only as Spiral Up (take -off in a spiral).
Indeed, if you look at exactly what engineers worked on the creation of a new modification machine, an association immediately arises with an almost manic desire to rise higher and higher. Well, here take at least a special adjustment of the suspension and 18 inch tires with disks. In the suspension, more precisely in the suspension shock absorbers, oil was used, the exploring qualities of which are independent of temperature. Further. The volume of rubber bushing bushes has been increased. In the rear suspension, in addition, the upper levers are strengthened. Moreover, the quality of rubber has been improved from which the restrictive bushings of torsion are made. The size of the brake discs is increased to 16 inches.
Exterior and interior
For a new modification, a special version of the body is chosen, namely red speed. There is also a color yellow canary, which is designed for the painting of a sports station wagon of the 23Z model.
The appearance of the machine attracts attention with 18-inch wheels. The size of the tires used is 215/45R18. On the car that I had to try, there were tires of the Bridgestone brand Potenza Re050. The wheels of the wheels in shape are no different from those that are remembered by the exhibition model, that is, simple in design with the 5th internal jumpers (knitting needles), through which the types of red brake calipers. Both 5-doors of the Sport category, and the Sport Wagon machine have an oblong, perfect shape from the point of view of style. And to this efforts of designers, the image of the machine 18-inch wheels are suitable as possible. There is another small, but very curious detail: the sprayers of the windshield washer are made to the color of the body.
Inside the salon, everything is aimed at creating a calm atmosphere. The seats of the salon are finished with genuine leather and velor with cross -texture, that is, they have a combined upholstery. The backs and seats provide hard support for the body and are very pleasant to the touch. At the same time, it is good that the silver color used as one of the two tones of the interior of the cabin does not cut the eyes. Genuine leather is used when finishing the steering wheel, the tip of the transmission control handle and the parking brake handle, as well as in the middle armrest. This creates a sense of functionality of each of these elements. Control pedals made of aluminum also unobtrusively tune the driver in the working mood. The front panel is half black, half made for metal. True, I think that if the panel was made as one, in terms of harmony, the salon would only win.
Performance
And so I get behind the wheel and touch the place. What are my impressions? I immediately perked up, because I felt that it was a machine whose control could give pleasure.
Although the machine under consideration was created on the basis of the ATENZA model, it feels that its body has more stiffness, and the suspension? The suspension provides this machine with a smooth move and, ultimately, makes it so attractive in terms of driving quality. I had the idea that the 23Z model can be considered as a more verified, more elegant version of the base machine. It is immediately felt that the suspension was adjusted in the most thorough way, starting with shock absorbers. And therefore, at low speed, the body rests absolutely evenly, and the smoothness of the course exceeds the indicators of the 23S model, which, as you know, is equipped with 17-inch tires. Moreover, if you evaluate the quality of the move by the standards of cars with 18-inch wheels, then I can even say that this car could argue with the BMW model of the 3rd E46 series. I mean that its original option when the manufacturer in the form of the option offered the installation of large, just 18 inches of the wheels. If we compare both varieties of the 23Z model, namely the 5-door category of Sport and Sport Wagon, then for some reason the station wagon seemed to me softer in terms of control comfort.
The controllability of the machine is also very accurate, the machine naturally reacts to all movements of the steering wheel. If you sharply turn the steering wheel, the car pecks smoothly, and its roll does not depend much on the speed of movement. And still, thanks to the width of the tread, it firmly relies on all 4 wheels even at the coolest turn. This inspires confidence in the driver, which means that the ride itself becomes a source of pleasure.
If you now proceed to the assessment of the traction qualities of the machine, I can say that it does not have an excess of power, but in general everything is at the required level. Now the engine is adjusted in such a way as to ensure an easily determined correspondence of the degree of opening of the throttle and the strength of the torque that arises after this. In addition, reprogramming of the automatic gearbox was performed, in particular, to improve its operation in the movement mode. Perhaps it is thanks to these measures at the time of the start of movement, at the time of acceleration, etc., that the car absolutely does not lack power. By the way, the automatic transmission type ActiveMatic provides normal driving conditions at a speed of 100 km/h and 2700 engine speeds per minute. Under the normal driving conditions, I understand such a transmission and engine, when there is still a decent supply of power. It should be added to this that at high speeds the motor does not publish annoying mechanical knocking, which characterizes it in the most positive way in terms of noise.
Of course, the positive qualities of the model under consideration do not reach the level of Rush (a movie clinical made in the Commonwealth with the director Luke Besonn, in which the ATENZA car is involved). But a simple motorist's running qualities of the Mazda ATENZA 23Z model will surely please.
