In the latest history of Mazda, which began in 2002 with the appearance of six, until recently there was no place for business class cars. Mazda6 is an excellent family car, but it does not pull on business. And what about the fans of the brand who grew out of the six, but do not want to change their favorite brand?
The response in the bowels of the company was ready a year ago, when sales of the SC-7 crossover began on the American market. But he reached Russia only now, and the queues are already lining up ... It is not worth waiting for high patency from such SUV, but the spectacular appearance and solid dimensions will say about the financial prosperity of the owner and his preferences. In addition, in comparison with the traditional sedans, the CC-7 wins in almost all the parameters: here is a more spacious trunk and solid clearance, good visibility and fitness for outdoor activities. Of course, due to a high body on large wheels, controllability suffers somewhat, but how many of us regularly use the entire potential of the machine?
The SK-7 in Russia was spoke about the imminent appearance of last year's car dealership, but the crossover reached us only now. We had the opportunity to test it on the roads of the Yaroslavl region, where there were a wide variety of sections.
As the results of statistical studies show, despite the fact that Mazda CC-7 is a traditional family crossover, most potential buyers begin to get acquainted with it by pressing the gas pedal in the floor. I repent, sinful, I also could not resist this temptation, and on the first straight line CC-7 with a formidable roar and unexpected agility rushed forward. The speedometer arrow quickly exceeded the first hundred and, practically without losing the speakers, rushed on. Some decrease in the dynamics is noticeable only after 150 km/h, when the 3rd gear ends. At the same time, it is necessary to make an amendment that the car was absolutely not running at the start of the odometer showed only 16 km, so in the future the dynamics should improve. But The machine is already working excellently, switching is invisible even in Kick-Down mode and with manual switching about shifts, it remains to be guessed only by the tachometer, since this practically does not affect the dispersal. Apparently, the maximum speed of the CC-7 should significantly exceed 200 km/h, but the ubiquitous electronics intervened in the case, the limiter worked when the speedometer showed 190, which corresponds to 181 km/h passport data. The excitement and a thirst for speed protest: why cut the wings when the machine obeys the steering wheel perfectly, does not scour at all, such as Mitsubishi Outlande XL, and allows you to maintain control even at maximum speed? Later, after the test, taking your head in your hands, you understand that the additional 20 or even 30 km/h is not much determined in the speed of movement in space, but safety is above all. Like it or not, the mass of the CC-7 is about 1900 kg, plus the driver and passenger, and the weight is already exceeding two tons. In an emergency, it will be very difficult to quickly stop such a colossus. It’s good if the wheels are of high -quality and dry asphalt. And if it is rain? After all, the speed in CC-7 is almost not felt. Several times it happened to rest against the limiter, just talking with a colleague. Unlike the European version with a capacity of 260 hp. With a mechanical checkpoint adapted to the 98th gasoline, the Russian CC-7 is equipped exclusively with automatically and, eating 95th, gives only 239 horses to the mountain. However, in practice, power is enough in the entire speed range, but the opportunity not to think about choosing a gas station will greatly facilitate the life of car owners.
Contrary to expectations, the chassis is not based on Mazda6, but from a more affordable nesting doll. In particular, the front suspension of the crossover is not a double -leaf, but the traditional McPherson, which makes its adjustments to controllability. On the average road by Russian standards, significant vibrations are on the steering wheel. The machine does not deviate from the straight line, but the steering wheel wants to squeeze stronger. Moreover, such behavior of CC-7 is in no way connected with a speed, the steering wheel sways both at 80 and at 180 km/h. To this, it remains only to get used to and put up. It is also good that the steering wheel constantly retains reactive effort, and the driver does not lose control of the machine. In the turns of the SC-7, the surprise of the chains, even on the standard, not the best tires, the main thing is not to perform any provocative actions.
It is worth dropping the gas or pulling the steering wheel with a cut. However, the stabilization system is constantly on the alert and it is impossible to turn it off, that with very gambling chassis settings, it’s rather good. To overcome the off -road ESP can be deactivated, but the electronics will wake up at a speed of 30 km/h. So Mazda does not promise any pokatuks on the ice, and it’s a pity the steering wheel of the CC-7 is very sensitive and you can control the filigree accuracy with it, and the tuning of all-wheel drive, like Mazda6 MPS, promises full control over power.
Having completed the program maximum according to the assessment of the running qualities of the CC-7, it's time to get out and inspect the car outside. How aggressive handling coincides with the appearance of the new Mazda? 100%! A small hump on an hood in the MPSOC style quite transparently hints at the remarkable abilities of the turbo engine, and the trapezoid hood and the highly allocated front wings are sent to the RX-8 compartment. Great pedigree. A spectacular window line and powerful wheel arches support the muscular silhouette. And the observer has no doubt for a second that, barely being driving such a car, the gas should be pressed right away to the stop, otherwise what is this all this aggressive design?
The interior is more calm, although not without a highlight. The three-spoke bagel almost copies the stylish bagel of the MX-5 relatives, only the diameter is larger. The massive central console is greatly tilted forward and passes into a mighty tunnel separating the driver from the passenger. Although in fact there is no transmission under it, as proves a huge box between seats in volume, it significantly exceeds the traditional glove box and therefore can be locked. All information about the work of the climate control, audio systems and an on-board computer is collected on a line under the windshield, this facilitates the perception of information, but requires some addiction to a number of small icons.
Alas, the interior, like the suspension, could not do without simplifications. For example, as on a three -lash, the steering wheel is regulated only in height, and the plastic of the front panel is only visually soft, in fact, it is hard. Even in the top -end configuration of Sport, only a driver's seat is equipped with electroregies, which is somewhat surprising in a car that costs 1,239,000 rubles (about $ 48,000). For a surcharge, you can order only a hatch with an electric drive.
However, you can be sure of Mazda will have a magnificent market future, and the current queues in car dealerships are confirmed. Yes, the SC-7 is not devoid of shortcomings, but all of them are a continuation of its advantages, or rather, one of the most important. As you guessed, we are talking about the price. It starts from a mark of 1,141,000 rubles, or about $ 44,000. It is quite reasonable for a car with a 239-horsepower engine, an excellent automatic and smart all-wheel drive.
If you look for competitors for CC-7 by price, then Mitsubishi Outlander XL will be the closest opponent. Three diamonds have the best cross -country ability and a large capacity of the cabin, but Mazda clearly conquers its appearance, a more dynamic engine and better handling. For many, these three components are much more important than the opportunity to place an additional bag of potatoes in the trunk. Yes, and the cabin of the CC-7 is still better than that of Outlander. In the class of Mazda, closer to the more prestigious Nissan Murano and Lexus RX 350, but the price for it is significantly lower, which explains minor disadvantages.
