Land Rover Discovery LR4 test drive since 2009 SUV

Reprint. Land Rover Discovery 4 and Range Rover Sport

Land Rover introduced Discovery 4 and Range Rover Sport 2010 model year.

Two new engines appeared in the line of power units of popular British SUVs: the LR-TDV6 diesel and gasoline LR-V8 with a supercharger.

The LR-TDV6 diesel 3-liter engine differs from the famous 2.7-liter with a significant increase in both power (by 29%) and torque (by 36%), which is 600 nm. This is the best indicator among 6-cylinder diesel units, and CO2 emissions compared with the 2.7-liter V6 are reduced by 9%.

The new gasoline LR-V8 with a supercharger also has impressive characteristics, demonstrating excellent performance and effectiveness. The indicators of its power and torque are significantly improved in comparison with the predecessor of a gasoline V8 with a supercharger. Unlike a 4.2-liter, a new 5-liter gasoline engine is 29% more powerful and develops 12% higher torque. At the same time, CO2 emissions are reduced by 5.6%, and fuel consumption by 6.2%.

Clients will also be able to order Discovery 4 with the TDV6 2.7 liter engine. Range Rover Sport will be available with LR-TDV6 3 L, TDV8 3.6 l or gasoline LR-V8 5 l.

Range Rover Sport is equipped with an improved 6-speed automatic ZF HP28. Its characteristics are optimized by Land Rover engineers for faster and more accurate gear. A significant increase in power and torque at low speeds, it made it possible to include a locking coupling in each gearbox much earlier, thereby reducing the slipping of the hydrotransformer, improving the efficiency and reducing the level of CO2 emissions.

In the Range Rover Sport, a new adaptive dynamic system was first used, which optimizes the height of the body and instantly reacts to the features of driving style. Advanced steering increases control over the car. The Roll Stability Control system provides selective wheel braking to prevent turning. Adaptive cruise control is also installed.

Both new items are equipped with the Trailer Stability Assist system, which is capable of tracking the trailer fluctuations and using the brake system and reducing the torque of the engine, stabilize the situation. In Discovery 4 and Range Rover Sport 2010, the Terran Response traffic control system has acquired new functions, even more Expanding the off -road capabilities of cars. The finalized program of stones/Small move prevents the likelihood of overturning the machine when driving into boulders and provides a more confident passage of rocky areas. For soft sand, one of the most energy -consuming surface types, the program is added to the sand movement, noticeably facilitating the movement of the car. The Hill Descent Control control system has been improved by adding Gradient Release Control. It prevents starting acceleration when driving down a steep slope, increasing control over the machine and excluding potentially dangerous drifts that occur when the brake is released in a steep area.

The new version of Land Rover has a sophisticated design. The smooth simple lines of the front -line contours are in harmony with the altered bumper, giving the exterior of the car greater clarity and relief. Due to this, aerodynamic characteristics improved and fuel consumption decreased. In addition, the transformation touched the grille of the radiator and wheels, and lighting devices are made using LED technology. The headlights are equipped with an intellectual lighting function, which automatically turns on and off the high light depending on road conditions.

The interiors of the Range Rover Sport and Discovery 4 are characterized by improved doors, new seats, consoles, instruments, switches and steering wheels. Both models are now equipped with a 5-inch TFT information system, located in the modernized instrument panel.

In Russia, the updated Range Rover Sport and Discovery 4 will appear on sale in September 2009.
