How it is now fashionable to start any article: despite the already disgusting financial crisis, the South Korean company Kia continues a massive attack on the Russian and European markets. Moreover, the offensive is not a spontaneous raid, but a carefully verified and strategically worked out solution. At first, as expected, there was an intelligence operation, the name of which is Kia Cee`d hatchback. It was this model that laid the foundation for the new design wave of the South Korean brand. Later there was a mass attack in the form of the appearance of the official representative office of the brand in Russia, which actually coincided with two more attacking maneuvers to the Russian market of the new sedan Kia Cerato and the city crossover Kia Soul, whose test we have already published.
All three models were created with the participation of German automobile designer Peter Schreyer, who attacked the creation of the previous generation Audi TT, Audi A6 and Volkswagen Golf IV.
C Kia Cee`d everything is clear the stylish five -door hatchback and its three -door modification of Procee`d have long become confused on European and Russian roads. But what about the latest Cerato sedan, whose Russian sales started in April of this year? This is what we will try to find out, because we have a 1.6-liter Kia Cerato with a 5-speed manual transmission on our test.
The exterior of the novelty turned out to be okay. A predatory head optics, an intricate grille of a radiator, a front bumper with widely spaced fog and a large mouth of the air intake betray the participation of a German designer. The backbone is more conservative, but from this it is no less attractive: thanks to harmonious lanterns that effectively complete the muscular silhouette of the sedan. Trembling, Japanese competitors, in beauty, the new Cerato can argue with any.
A simple interior, refreshed by plastic metallized inserts, is crowned with a spectacular dashboard, consisting of three deep wells, in the dials of which, as prisoners, red arrows are enclosed. The assembly quality was pleased: not a single extra gap, all the panels are clearly adjusted. However, the abundance of hard plastics affects the bumps, and in the bowels of the front panel you can hear a barely perceptible creaking. A pleasant to the touch leather steering wheel has an adjustment in two planes. The front seats have a good profile, but lateral support is clearly not enough. As a low landing lover, I did not have enough adjustment range in height.
In the back row of space, two passengers of medium complexion are enough. Otherwise, the riders run the risk of propping the back of the front seats with the knees. Three here is definitely not a place, and the headrest for the central part in Cerato is not provided. But there is a convenient armrest with built -in cup holders. Opening the lid of the trunk, I realized why they took care of the place. As many as 415 liters of free space, and even folded in parts the back of the rear sofa. Practical.

On the bottom of 156 nm, the torque is clearly not enough, but with an increase in revolutions, the engine is activated and lucky much more fun. There is a shortage of the 6th gear on the highway: already 120 km/h, the strain of the motor, whose revolutions are approaching 4,000 rpm, begins to annoy decently, and the hand automatically reaches for the lever to switch further. The transmission itself does not shine with the clarity of switching, and the adhesion pedals are not enough information.
Things are better with the steering wheel. The Korean sedan is stable on a straight line, and many owners of the rear multi -wingers can be envied by Kia Cerato turns. However, the rolls could not be avoided, and the harsh suspension perceives unevenness too close to heart. I liked the settings of the steering amplifier: a clear zero and adequate reverse action is put on active driving. The brakes are not bad, but the pedal is too sensitive, which is why at first it was often necessary to peck with his nose.
For Russian buyers, the choice is negative: one motor, two transmission and only two levels of equipment. However, the basic performance is already offers a route computer, two pillows, ABS, an audio system with outputs for IPOD and USB, air conditioning, electric windows, mirrors and front armrest. The price of this version of Kia Cerato is 559 thousand rubles.
 
The execution of Lux costs 599 thousand rubles. The ESP stabilization system is added to the above here, adjusting the steering wheel, automatic lighting of light, fog lights, climate control, side airbags + curtains, as well as heating the seats and wiper zones. The additional payment for automatic transmission is 40 thousand rubles.
