Chrysler's logic is clear: after the brutal car of the first generation, I wanted to offer the buyer a more expensive, refined, intelligent machine. The problem is that the old version did not have time to borrow people. And if the respectful Mercedes-Benz s-Klasse (debuting, by the way, at about the same time) was sold with us well (just because it is a top Mercedes-Benz), then the Grand Cherokee did not go so successfully. True, exactly until the third generation car appeared in 2005, the production of which was completed in 2010. That's the car! Pretty!

A spectacular angular Grand Cherokee has always been popular with us, although in general the products of Chrysler affairs in the Russian market went badly. Anyway, the market life of the Jeep Grand Cherokee generation WK has developed: a new generation car has long been proposed. It's time to analyze the reliability of the model of an old sample: there are quite a few secondary market, the prices are acceptable and certainly want to buy such a car.

The truth is said that the avant-garde design is aging much faster than the appearance of simple and simple. And it's easier than Jeep Grand Cherokee WK, practically does not happen: we have been converted from the aspire of the 1992 sample car, which is widespread in Russia.

With all its simplicity of Grand Cherokee, evil, aggressive and extremely effective: In the stream, such a car is unlikely to get lost. The result of the joint effort was worthy of: the American interior with an abundance of German strokes looks quite harmonious and nice (cute devices, decent quality of manufacture, comfortable chairs). There are no complaints and for equipping, as, in fact, and for capacity (in this generation Grand Cherokee is much larger than in the previous one). However, the materials of the finish, unfortunately, far from the highest sample: many panels are unpleasant to the touch, and some even look at. In general, if someone hopes that Grand Cherokee will be a full-fledged replacement for some M-Klasse, it is waiting for disappointment: America prevents (though it is cheaper).

In this generation, Jeep Grand Cherokee instead of the continuous bridge for the first time an independent front suspension was applied. As a result, a good smoothness of the stroke (cars of the first two generations were certain difficulties), as well as better handling on asphalted roads, although this car clearly does not pretend to the level of modern luxury crossovers. Patency is still her lobby: the car received several options for the full drive (the most advanced system has all three differentials had couplings with electronic locking, there was no simple gender clutch), powerful engines, and in addition, quite a decent road lumen. However, there was a version that far from the SRT-8 off-road galads. In essence, this is a real Muscle-Car in the guise of the jeep: 180 mm of the road lumen, sports suspension, Brembo brakes, all-wheel drive transmission with open differentials and automatic connection of the front axis where you have seen an SUV? However, SRT-8 is not only crawling on dirt, but also by asphalt. Delicate dictionaries, especially from the place! More powerful SUVs such as Mercedes-Benz ML63 AMG later overtake it, but the start in most cases behind it. Among the ferriers, the car has become a cult (including plenty of tuning).

The third generation Jeep Grand Cherokee can boast such a choice of engines, which does not have another modern Japanese SUV! The line of motors includes the following strength units:
Basic diesel (one of the most common engines) with a working volume of 3 liters develops 218 hp;
3.7-liter gasoline V6 has a capacity of 210 hp;
A widespread 4.7-liter V8 to 2008 had 265 hp, later 310 hp;

It must be said that the engines that are equipped with Jeep Grand Cherokee of this generation are distinguished by reliability. The only one is: German diesel capricient to the quality of fuel. American aggregates are not so demanding to fuel, but consume it in incredible quantities. In general, the engine content in good form does not imply anything supernatural (the main thing is to change the oil and filters in time, like any other machine).

To the gearbox (it has all the Grand Cherokee automatic, with five steps), as well as to the elements of the full drive system, there are no complaints. Of course, this does not mean that the breakdowns were completely excluded: the talented driver could finish off and the box, and the distribution (though, sometimes the transfer box ended and without the help of the driver), besides, there were some times the leaks were observed. But mostly it was characteristic of the first years of release. Well, any serious chronic ailments related to the transmission, over the past years, the GC failed to identify.

But the suspension can prevent some unpleasant surprises. In particular, the front lever silent blocks are weak (like ball supports), and separately the hinges are not sold, only assembled with the lever itself. Also not differ in the durability of the front stabilizer bushings. Ensure and with steering control (rake flows, tips of steering tips are knocking). But the service life of the driving elements of the brake system enviable.

In general, the WK is a breakthrough in a part of consumer qualities and reliability (compared to the car of the previous generation): It received much more powerful engines, a normal suspension, a pretty interior, and any unresolved problems are missing, of course, not the best deal in the classroom But very decent. Especially for those who love true American cars, albeit under the German sauce.
