Jeep Commander test drive since 2008 SUV
Jeep Commander CRD and VW Touareg V6 TDI
Looking at the tables, it can be assumed that Jeep Commander CRD and VW Touareg V6 TDI are very similar. Not really. They perform in the same class of medium -sized SUVs and both belong to the SUV category, since they are equipped with handouts with a reduced number of gears. They have a set with diesel engines with a volume of three liters. They cost the same money, fitting in the range from 1,600,000 rubles for the most modest versions to 1,900,000 rubles for the full equipment of direct competitors!
Fashionable theme
Let's start immediately with the engines, since diesel is a fashionable theme. If for Europe it is the main product, then for Russia it has become widely available only this year.
We immediately put them to the starting line, and with a paired jerk from the place of Commander sharply went forward for half the corps. The lost German could not catch up. Thinking at the start, he was forced to put up with outstanding until the finish. There were no reserves to punish equal in strength. The Touareg engine develops 225 liters. With. at 4000 rpm and 500 nm. The engine Commander CRD 217 l. With. at 4000 rpm and 510 nm. Mystic!
Then we turned off -road. Cars of this class and such a price are originally created to overcome relatively complex areas on ordinary road rubber. It is difficult to imagine that someone will put on them the wheel of the All or Mud Terrain, as is customary among the owners of SUVs easier. That is why Touareg is so delighted with his pneumatic suspension and electronic imitation of locks. You just rushed 180 km/h on the highway, and now you increased the road clearance to 300 mm and crawl through the tractor track.
Commander cannot boast of such a geometry, but on the ground his diesel again, like on a solid one, the Touareg motor beats. This thoughtfulness of the German six on the bottom again spoils the picture. Commander is more confident, more specifically, clearer. The American gives a 100% sensation of a diesel machine. The German is more civilized in sound, overclocking and traction.
Here you have two identical engines. In fact, they have different characters. The CRD has a wider range of revolutions, on which the maximum value of the torque is achieved, and it begins to pull earlier. Even the fact that the five -speed Jeep automatic transmission is less progressive than the high -speed Six -speed VW automatic machine does not interfere.
Matter: VW Touareg V6 TDI
Matter: Jeep Commander
Point for the trunk
In addition to dynamics, there are enough other serious differences. Commander has an uncertain bridge behind, and Touareg has an independent suspension there. Yes, and the settings of the steering, suspensions, brakes are generally such that VW confidently maneuver between the trucks, and Jeep asks to hold the steering wheel tighter and not be distracted by slalom. Touareg leader in manageability in his class, and Commander on the contrary ... The same can be said about the salon. The German is impeccable: roads and solid. Yankees are brutal, but hard plastic and not very stylish bolts are primitive. Touareg has plenty of places in the second row, but his opponent has a few. True, ComMander has a third row in the basic configuration. In folded form, it is cleaned in the floor of the trunk, and therefore the lower part of the cargo compartment (along the edge of the glass) in Jeep is less roomy than that of the competitor.
The mind in this test is entirely on the side of VW Touareg. The right, truly universal SUV. And the motor is amazing. Loss in the dynamics of zilch, bare sensations. But for Jeep they say feelings. Remember, when you ran to distillations in childhood, the main thing was to run the first, and with what margin it is not important. Plus, of course, brutality. And the seven -seater salon.
