Infiniti QX56 test drive since 2004 SUV

Black Galeon

And again we are captured by illusions. Dynamic on the go, quite elegant from afar, Infiniti QX56 is a giant near! However, the game of imagination and optical deception is not interested in us now. The chic version of the full-sized Nissan Armada SUV should be different from its standard brother, something else except a couple tens of thousands of dollars.

The release of prestige grades is usually a marketing move in its purest form. As they say, if you want to reliably rebuild from competitors, assigning your product a luxury category, reinforce with advertising - and if there is enough money for promotion, everything is in order. You won’t get off with cars with a car, here you also need to withstand the quality at the highest level, and the most expensive materials are used, and introduce innovations. In other words, a brand of prestige for a car company is also a technological thing. What we, in fact, should only be happy.

In the situation with the Nissan Armada and Infiniti QX56, things are not quite as described above. There are no technical revolutions and technological breakthroughs, outwardly the machines are almost no different, inside, oddly enough, too. Platforms, transmission, chassis are exactly the same. Unless the rear suspension is kept on pneumo elements that compensate for the load and can help if necessary to put a heavy trailer on the hook. In addition, differences are noticeable in the behavior of the car, in comfort when moving - controllability and smoothness. And this is probably to blame for the pneumatic suspension.

The greatest change was subjected to the front of the car. Drawn under the barbell-zirkul and a merry lover of constructivism with his straight segments and sharp corners of Nissan, in Infiniti, he softened to modernity, roundness and disabilities appeared. On the other hand, Infiniti light blocks look blind and somehow finely on the huge muzzle of the SUV. In general, the designers of both versions failed to get away from the feeling of feeding and pumping inherent in almost all large SUVs. Two options, in fact, are a chest -like (the brightest representative of this style - Hummer H2) or hypermiscule, which we see on Japanese machines. Huge hood, huge expanders of arches, everything huge, towering and bulging. Most of the noticeable details of the exterior have not changed, except for the palette of flowers and the presence of chromium, as an obligatory element of the decor of expensive machines.

The car looks a little more dynamic due to the already mentioned changes in the bow, but by no means more solid, as one might suggest. In fact, tinting the side glasses of the rear doors, opening with a servo drive of the luggage compartment and glass of the fifth door are a standard option for many SUVs of the American market.

In the QX56 cabin, the kingdom of perfectly made out skin, behind which other parts of the finish are slightly lost. The style solution of the interior is well familiar in Armada, the differences are again in colors and materials. There is less plastic, more metal and skin. The driver’s place is very spacious. The chair is adjustable on three planes. It does not very well support the driver from lateral displacements, and the front edge could rise higher. If someone suddenly does not have enough control range, pedals that are able to move over a fairly long distance will come to his aid. For this, a key is provided on the front panel of the cabin.

A pretty bagel, ennobled by a valve wood, changes vertical and horizontal position using an electric motor.

The second row of seats is divided into two full-fledged places with a huge locker, in which the DVD-transport of any size easily fit, even with Chener. The multimedia complex, however, is not included in the standard equipment of the four -wheeled monster, but this is even good. There is always a chance to choose something to your liking. The distance between the first and second rows of seats is so great that you can put the partition a la government limousine, and will not become closer. I stretched my legs almost completely, but you can’t strengthen in such a pose for a long time. The seat pillow is flat and almost horizontal: a few irregularities - and you start to slide ... The third row is ordinary - teenage -Voznsky, although I would not dare to shove my own spouse there. But if you put this row, then everything will fall into place: the large ship is a large hold! The luggage compartment in the case of configuration of the 2+2 interior is approached in volume to the overall size of the SMART car. Well, let's say, I would put six bicycles there, and there would still be enough space to pushes shy shoes in the corners. One pleasant trifle is distinguished by the luggage compartment of Infiniti from the same Nissan - the servo drive of the fifth door (the button installed on the rear rack of the cabin is responsible for its opening and for closing). Moreover, the mechanism is equipped with a system that protects a person engaged in baggage from injuries due to unauthorized closure of the door.

On the go, Infiniti QX56 is slightly more sensitive than Armada. His suspension works softer, while the rolls in the turns did not become anymore. This is due to the use of sensitive and powerful rear suspension on pneumo elements. It compensates for a road clearance that changes from the degree of loading, allows you to adjust the level of a clutch device for a specific trailer, stabilizes the car during braking and acceleration. In the city of Infiniti, it is surprisingly easily controlled if we take into account its grand dimensions, visibility and engine power. Mighty V-shaped eight with a capacity of 315 liters. With. With an electronic drive of the throttle, the throttle easily accelerates the monster in a dozen with a small seconds to 100 km/h, while spending a little more than 18 liters per hundred. On the highway, as expected, Infiniti stands as a glove, without requiring adjusting the trajectory, without straining the driver and passengers with shaking and noise. Fuel consumption outside the city is 12.1 liters per 100 km (according to factory data).

Infiniti QX56 does not have a certain positioning in the Russian market, since single specimens and the tendency are simply unable to track us. In North America, the SUV is intended for a fairly wide sector of consumers, family, middle age that make up the upper Middle Class sector. Presumably 95 percent of them will be men. I wonder how many of them are the size of the XXL size?
