Test Drive Hyundai Veracruz 2006 - 2010

Crossover Hyundai Veracruz.

In Korea for Russian journalists, a presentation of the large crossover Hyundai Veracruz was held. We hope that Russia will sell not only a gasoline version. To understand the Korean auto industry, you need to go to Korea at least once.
However, it is very far, and so that you do not bother, I'll tell you everything myself. I expected to see on the streets of Seoul anything, except for five-meter black sedans and silver SUVs, but they met them.
Competitor only one
South Korea Little country with a population of 50 million people. There is almost no free space, everything is sown rice and cabbage. Real estate at Moscow prices, and gasoline costs 1 dollar 80 cents. It would seem that in such conditions it is possible to move exclusively on the mining bugs of the Matiz type, but there are no more than five pieces in Seoul, and I seem to be one of them. We were drunk on the streets of the Korean capital for a long time, and after two-day stressful peasement in the stream, I noticed one Hyundai Getz and one accent.
It loves cars not lower than D-class. The old Sonata is considered compact. Seoul taxi like in New York, a length is no less than Chevrolet Caprice. And here these lovers of Pontovozov and Jeeps made a seven-party crossover Hyundai Veracruz (by the way, with a rather spacious third nearby). It is more than Santa Fe, at 190 mm and falls into the class of full-size crossovers in the company with such machines, such as, for example, Honda Pilot, Acura MDX, Mazda CX-9 (see Material in this room). All of them have a carrying body, independent suspension, and they have no reduced transmission. There are many models in this class, the competition is acute, but with the exception of those listed all of them are five-seater and formally competing with Hyundai Veracruz cannot. In addition, Acura MDX supply only gray dealers. But Honda Pilot, Mazda CX-9 and the hero of my story will soon appear on sale. It will be necessary to make a triple test ...
We are waiting for a bike
Korean automotive industry works like this: 30% of all manufactured machines are sold within the country, from the other 70% half leaves in the US, the remaining is distributed between Russia and the Arab Emirates. Something goes to other countries, but in minor scales.
I am not a marketer, but it seems to me, the slogan that good for the US is good for Korea will soon endure. What is happening today with fuel prices, may not affect the structure of production. Here is one disturbed fact: today in Russia 90% of SSANGYONG REXTON SUVs are sold with diesel engines. But this is the beginning of the end first we turn to the diesel fuel, and then we transplant on Suzuki Jimny with a pedal. However, everything is not easy in the US for a long time. For example, GM as a particularly promising model calls Chevy Aveo (see page 10). In the meantime, Hyundai offers us a 3.8 liter gasoline engine Enjoy!
Signs of a good American
Hyundai Veracruz, like an ordinary American car, strangely slows down, surprising an overly tight pedal and her big free move. It is easy to understand if you imagine the driving of the crossover of a two-hundred-tailed resident of Texas, who, with the dosage efforts on pedals, serious problems.
What are the signs of a true American? Easy, empty and not at all the sharp steering wheel. Good, not to make mistakes with sharp movements. Validity in maneuvers, which in the US is called the smoothness of the stroke. Washed transmission to automatic transmission. Again, not as a lack, but to exclude driver aggression.
Hyundai Veracruz can not be prepared on the part and viewed under the microscope. Look at him in general. This is a big car. Inexpensive (prices are not yet named, but it is cheaper than all competitors). Smooth. Non-aggressive. All-wheel drive family bus. We have such little on the streets. Perhaps will appear more, especially if Koreans are solved to supply a trildish diesel configuration. Unfortunately, it was not on the presentation.

Sobbing in bumper
We traveled to Hyundai Veracruz on the island of Jejudo around the volcano. Asphalt route. Direct roads, wide and smooth. Running from the main group in the field, I managed to evaluate several off-road novelty parameters. First, the smoothness of the stroke at the height. The route along the Bugrid Field brought only pleasure. But checking for diagonal hanging showed the weakness of anti-duct electronics in off-road conditions. Electronics does not let go of the turnover, and you have to call an obstacle with overclocking, sobbing on the front bumper.
On the asphalt drive from Hyundai Veracruz on the front wheels. The rear axle connection clutch can be blocked. There is no reduced transmission. Everything like most classmates. On the asphalt direct V6 accelerates to 100 km / h in 8.3 seconds. Good indicator in the class. Only a gasoline motor is not enough for Nizakh. Maximum power in 260 liters. with. It is achieved only at 6000 revolutions, and the peak of the moment of 348 nm at 4500 revolutions. In winter, it will not be difficult to get stuck in a snowdrift. For our all-wheel drive joy you need a diesel!
Veracruz One of the last large crossovers created in the hope that the price of gasoline by the end of the year will not exceed 50 dollars per liter. Or, on the contrary, modern spacious transport, in which in a couple of years, mounted fuel elements and replace the roof on the solar panel? I have no accurate answer, and while I say: give diesel!
