Hyundai Santa Fe Test drive since 2009 SUV
Battle for diesel fuel
From the very moment, as soon as crossovers have strode in friendly rows, and their popularity increased sharply, including in Russia, many automakers began active expansion in this market segmentBut taxes and prices for fuel dictate their conditions, so the turn of the Russians came to take an example from their European counterparts and seriously think about diesels. Fortunately, their assortment is becoming wider day by day.
We chose for the test two guys with a hard-to-the-hand charisma in their class Hyundai Santa Fe and Citroeon C-Crosser (aka Peugeot 4007, aka and the main donor of Mitsubishi Outlander XL). Both are the semi -drives of half -dead with differential locks and low transmission in the all -wheel drive system. In other words, both cars are in principle urban residents, but they may well stand up for themselves and on some off -road. I emphasize: for some, for climb into the fierce swamp, where a normal sane person will not stick to the Land Rover Defender.
So what do we have? Both cars are equipped with 2.2 liter turbodieselles and have approximately the same power. Santa Fe has almost the maximum equipment, even the back of the luggage compartment opens and closes with an electric drive, there are only xenon and front parking sensors, but there is an automatic gearbox and a navigation system with Touch Screen. Citroone is aggregated with a mechanical transmission with quite clear switching, which should please love lovers. And in general, coupled with a turbodiesel engine, the mechanic really adds renunciation on the go.
Despite the upcoming shift of the generation, the so -called prerestyled Santa Fe in any case looks more attractive externally than his predecessor, the very terrible first -generation SUV with convex, like fish eyes, headlights. And although many praised the old Santa Fe for a powerful gasoline engine, which is quite worthy of comfort and practicality for a car of this class, the new car looks much more solid and much more aesthetically more attractive.
However, Citroeon C-Crosser looks even more interesting in terms of design, the exterior design of which can be called, if not revolutionary, then quite bold and stylish. C-Crosser looks not only much more interesting than his direct donor Outlander XL, but even capable of overshadowing the twin brother of Peugeot 4007, also with a rather bold design. However, as they say, tastes and color
As already mentioned, both test vehicles were actually in the maximum trim levels, although for Citroeon a turbodiesella 156-horsepower engine is considered basic, so in the interior of the skin and modern electronics. Moreover, the absence of some options in one machine is quite compensated by the presence of those in another. For example, there was no navigation system in the C-Crosser test, but there was an adaptive bixenon, which did not get his competitor to Santa Fe. However, the issue of configuration is always open to a potential buyer, and the number of independent options with the help of a car dealership manager depends only on the thickness of the client’s wallet.
But the most important dignity of the Frenchman, which will probably appeal to family people, the presence of the third row of seats in the floor of the trunk. In other words, Citroone C-Crosser car is 7-seater. In principle, this option can be abandoned, but the third row seat itself is generally difficult to notice, so few people can interfere. But the Hyundai Santa Fe itself surpasses the competitor in size, although a little more squat. And adjustable rear seats (quite convenient and already popular standard option) allow you to move comfortably on this car even with a driver. The quality of manufacture of the Frenchman’s interior wins the Korean, however, you will not find a traditional French charm here, because inside the C-Crosser spilled Mitsubishi Outlander XL, that is, you can’t find fault with the quality of the Japanese assembly, but the superization in the interior design is no longer visible
Possessing almost the same power and a torque, both cars nevertheless behave differently on the road. The C-Crosser is more assembled by the fries, Santa Fe, on the contrary, due to the presence of a multi-link suspension (including behind), more muffle and sway a little more. However, lovers of comfortable driving Korean car will like. The advantages of the car can still be attributed to the pluses almost five meters long, in a dense city stream, the SUV feels more than comfortable. Citroone, on the contrary, is less prone to various kinds of swinging, its suspension can be called dense, but by no means sports. However, the manufacturer does not hide that the younger C-Crosser is intended for the young generation that prefers active movements. You can also not only praise the smoothness or elasticity of the course, but also noted good sound insulation, located at this class of cars at a quite decent level.
So, what feelings caused two quite popular SUVs, standing in about a row on price and technical equipment? Given the possibility of cutting some additional options, the ratio of the direct cost and the so -called quantity and quality of the car received for this money, it seems that these cars have (and is!) A lot of acting and potential consumers. Yes, you can find fault with the quality of individual elements of the Korean SUV, yes, you can grumble about some boring and monotony of the Japanized C-Crosser salon, but still such cars used and will be successful in the Russian market. For the running qualities of both competitors themselves are quite consistent with their level. Of course, to storm the virgin lands of Russian collective farms, where not a single sane person will stick even on UAZ, makes no sense. Nevertheless, the true element of such cars city streets. Plus, there is an opportunity to get on a fragmented spring or autumn primer to its personal plot. Namely, in fact, in fact, the owners of parquet all -terrain vehicles and use them
In the European markets, Hyundai Santa Fe and Mitsubishi Outlander XL (C-Crosser and Peugeot 4007 of its copies) appeared about the same. And, of course, both participated in the crash tests of the EURONCAP association. According to their results, the Japanese earned 32 points, or 4 stars in a more familiar classification. The complaints of experts caused a frontal blow (12 points out of 16). Santa Fe, however, received even less than 29 points. During the test in the dashboard, potentially traumatic elements were found.
