The Korean SUV Hyundai Santa Fe liked Russian customers. It is well assembled, has an attractive appearance, and it is sold for acceptable money. Now a version with a diesel engine has appeared. Let's check the debutant at the Dmitrov Auto Poligon
The first engine that began to be installed on the new generation of Santa Fe was a 2.7 liter gasoline engine. For a car weighing about two tons of a V-shaped six with a capacity of 189 hp. came up right. But, despite the abundance of existing sets, the Korean company thought about expanding the engine line. The most logical was to diversify the gamut due to the diesel version. So they did. From the summer, Santa Fe has been sold with a 2.2 CRDI diesel engine. A version with a diesel engine can be aggregated both with a 5-speed mechanics and a 5-speed automatic. For testing at the training ground, we chose an automatic transmission as the most popular type of KP among Russian consumers.
So far, only one equipment is available with a diesel engine, but the richest. It includes a leather salon, rain and light sensors, six airbags, ABS+EBD, ESP, Electric Pact. And this is far from the entire list of available options. In the cabin it will be convenient for everyone. From the total width of the car in 1890 mm, 1555 mm in front and 1540 mm behind are isolated for the internal space. So even the three of the back sofa will not be closely. Of course, you do not have to complain to the front passengers.
As for the adjustment of the seats, a large range of electro -regulations of the front seats will allow you to easily find a convenient pose. And by adjusting the height of the seat, you can take the command pose when the hood and two or three cars are visible in front. True, the absence of even a hint of lateral support should be recognized as a minus.
The launch of the motor is accompanied by a characteristic diesel crack. But, oddly enough, in the future, the engine works quietly, without vibrations. In the cabin at idle
sound strength does not exceed 45 dB. And the maximum noise during movement barely reaches 67 dB. Such sound insulation allows all passengers and driver to communicate without an increase in voice. Hyundai located outside also does not bother with excessive noise. The indicators during acceleration with 50 km/h and with uniform movement of 80 km/h practically no 76 dB.
The dynamics of diesel Hyundai Santa Fe cannot be called outstanding. Still, 150 hp Such a heavy car is not enough. The peak of the moment and switching falls on 4400 min-1. Really well an SUV begins to go only after 3000 min-1. And a more intense set of speed occurs after reaching 60. The same was shown. On the bottoms, diesel is a little sluggish, being in Turboyam. Having exceeded the mark of 3000 min-1, the turbine begins to work at full capacity, quickly swinging the engine up to 4500 min-1 and switching to the next gear.
Automatic transmission has a manual mode. But it is more suitable for winter operation, since switching occur in the same way as in normal D. But this mode allows moving in the first or second transmission more or less dynamically. This is very useful when driving along a cracked road on a reduced gear.
With such dynamics, acceleration to 100 km/h for 11.6 s, which the manufacturer promises, is acceptable and justified. However, during our tests, it was not possible to disperse Santa Fe faster than 12.6 C. In fairness, we note that the difference of one second is hardly felt. The diesel Hyundai Santa Fe does not apply for sports. It is intended for a measured driving. Four hundred meters, the car passes 18.5 s, gaining speed of 120 km/h. For a thousand meters, the SUV accelerates to 150 km/h, which takes 34.1 s.
In the most important exercises, the reserving, where controllability is evaluated, the SUV showed acceptable results. They were even better than many expected. A long rearrangement according to ISO is overcome at a speed of 125.3 km/h. At a short input speed, it was 72 km/h, but the output was only 43 km/h. Such a fall happened for a reason. In front and behind, Santa Fe has a multi -link suspension. In front, Mcpherson racks are installed. Thanks to this setting, the SUV turned out to be very comfortable. The suspension swallows even serious irregularities. But the reverse side of the medal is large rolls. As a result, the car with emergency maneuvering requires increased attention and additional adjustment. And the forces spent on the suppression of the rolls extinguish the output speed on a short stop. And the speed on slalom did not exceed 58.9 km/h in an unloaded state and 58 km/h in loaded.
Praise deserve the brakes of Santa Fe. With such an impressive mass with 100 km/h, the SUV stops at the decent 39 m. And at a speed of 140 km/h until a complete stop, it needs 79 m. The result is very good, taking into account the rather large weight of the 2006 kg SUV.
Our assessment
The final assessment of Hyundai Santa Fe is good. There are no bright victories, but there are no defeats. Golden mean. But if you take into account the size, not a new diesel and automatic transmission, then the car, no doubt, deserves praise. This SUV is suitable for steppe people who love comfort.
