When a year and a half ago I40 was first shown to the public at the Geneva Motor Show, many wondered: why did Hyundai need another model, almost commensurate with one of Sonata's bestsellers? But it’s enough to take a closer look at the i40, and Korean logic will become fabulous, like spring water. IW 40 is 80 mm shorter and 20 mm already Sonata, 25 mm is inferior in the database and 10 mm in the size of the road clearance, but it exceeds the head in power to the head.

The European design, which is not available to Sonata, a set of options borrowed from the premium segment and more expensive decoration materials leave no doubt for whom this car is built. Sonata is simpler and more ideal for American and Asian markets. Europeans need something more progressive and sophisticated. I must admit that during the test (we decided to ride along the old Smolensk tract from Moscow to Smolensk) between Vyazma and Dorogobuzh, the asphalt unexpectedly ended in front of us, looking at the 140 -mm road clearance of the i40, we barely stood before the temptation to turn back. But for the purity of the experiment, they decided to take a chance and let the Korean sedan into the vastness of the light Russian off-road. They took a chance and, I must say, did not regret at all ... If you continue comparison with the same Sonata, I do not think that the difference of 10 mm of the road clearance would allow her to feel on the country of the old Smolensk road much more confident than our Hyundai i40. Firstly, with longitudinal vibrations, this difference is somewhat compensated by a shorter wheelbase of a magpie, and secondly, the suspension is dense in terms of cranked speeds at reasonable speeds does not allow the Hyundai i40 to swing strongly and rubbed the bullet on the soil.

However, lanes, even lungs, of course, not for i40. His element is asphalt jungle of megacities and high -speed European (in the sense of quality) highway.
