Hyundai Elantra sedan test drive since 2010 sedan

American hit

The latest Hyundai Elantra sedan stands out with a bright design, a powerful engine, a spacious interior and rich equipment. What about the minuses of the Korean?

The Hyundai Elantra of the new generation has been sold in the United States for a year, and now I have reached Russia. Spectacular interior design and exterior, rich equipment, spacious interior, powerful motors behind the Elantra ocean are one of the most popular Korean machines. What awaits it in our market?

Those when Koreans made cheap machines with secondary design, outdated technologies and disgusting handling, passed. New Hyundai cars are not inferior to competitors from Japan and Europe.

I will not talk about how good Elantra is outside, you yourself see everything. But I will say about the interior of a few words. I have not seen such an original central console for a long time! Coca-Cola glass? Small black Chanel dress? Transformer robot? Very original and beautiful! But there is another small detail, imperceptible at first glance: the shape of the display between the tachometer and the speedometer repeats the shape of the central console! It is these small details that speak of the degree of study of the car.

Ergonomics for my dimensions is perfect. Despite the fact that the steering wheel on this copy was not regulated by departure, I picked up the optimal position without problems. What I especially liked was an unprecedented volume of useful space. The cup holders huge in them climb large glasses from fast food restaurants, while the bottom has a deepening, which allows simultaneously fixing narrow jars with a volume of 0.33 liters of energy drinks. The central armrest hides a truly giant box, and there is also a secretary under the climate control unit that contains USB, AUX entrances and cigarette lighter.

And there is only one serious puncture: the hand brake lever is too close to the seat, so you have to turn the hand very much. By car with automatic transmission, this is not so scary, but on the sedan with mechanics, probably, it will have to be tight. Another trouble is finishing materials. Like Sonata, in the Elantra salon, cheap materials are combined with expensive. The upper part of the panel is made of soft materials, but the visor visor is stiff, and the central console is completely slippery and reinforced concrete. I also did not like that absolutely all the adjustable adjustments. As a result, it is not possible to quickly look for the station, to change the temperature and direction of the flows. The only steeps know only the fan speed and the volume of the audio system.

Behind the expanse. Firstly, the sofa is very wide, you can comfortably sit down three. Secondly, there is no central tunnel. Thirdly, there are enough legs for the legs to sit down with a height of 186 cm. Unfortunately, you have to pay for a rapid silhouette with a low line of the roof and the back sofa littered with the back. So tall people will still not be very convenient.

Unfortunately, it was not possible to travel a lot by car. My route was as follows: Novoslobodskaya Street Sadovoe Ring embankment Yauza TTK Savvinskaya embankment st. 1905 Presnensky Val Butyrsky Val. Why is this route? It allows you to evaluate the comfort of the car in traffic jams on the garden, the controllability in the turns of the Yauza embankment and the operation of the suspension at the joints of TTK.

What can I say based on the results of the trip? Acceleration is peppy, however, really the engine wakes up only after 4000 rpm. So, twist and do not be afraid! The machine gun is milk -up, but switching is still too noticeable. But I liked the suspension settings, which many colleagues in the workshop called too soft! The machine is well controlled at urban speeds, it copes with the joints, and with pits, and even with sewage hatches protruding from asphalt. There are complaints to the settings of the steering wheel amplifier. In the nearoral zone on the steering wheel is emptiness, and it is worth rejecting the steering wheel by 20 degrees and the effort grows in a spasmodic. It even scares a little!

But the main trouble is noise. Already at a speed of 80 km/h the wind, the motor and especially the tires begin to annoy. The studded tires on our Elantra is a disaster! Not only are they noisy, but also the wheels are instantly blocked.

Did I like the car? In general, yes, but in order to make the right opinion, you need to travel longer and most importantly compare with competitors. Therefore, in the February issue of Hyundai Elantra magazine will meet competitors.
