Someone these two words seem antonyms. Relatively affordable Korean cars are rarely associated with sports ambitions. Nevertheless, it is Hyundai - the first and so far the only South Korean manufacturer who dared to invade the segment alien for the local car industry. It happened in 1996.

The appearance of the coupe is spectacular, even beautiful places. But you look at the car, and it seems that the designers created the image of Coupe, moving from the nose to the stern and gradually cleaned inspiration. FASHAS The car is very attractive, especially after the update - thanks to the new bumper, the breakfast of beautiful head optics and the edge of the air intake converge into the center like the letter X. gives aggression. And the line of the hood flowing down between the headlights, forms a faceted emotional cheekbone along the wings. The engine does not boast of capacity: 167 forces from this volume - a little (on other models it develops 175 and even 179 hp). Therefore, the maximum speed is not extended - 220 km / h. But the accelerated speaker is not bad. The main thing is not even passporting 8.2 seconds to hundreds, but subjective impressions. The torque of 245 nm throws the car forward almost at each switch, even on the third transmission of the wheel with intensive acceleration, ripped into the slip. The disadvantage is the uneven characteristic of the torque. At the bottom of the traction there is a little lacking (you have to gently handle the clutch) and in the area of \u200b\u200b3000 turns of nehously. But, starting with 4000 and almost to maximum revolutions, the engine pleases gambling. Big upstairs, it makes more actively switching transfers. It is good that we got a car with a manual box, because there is also a version with a sequental 4-speed automaton. It is unlikely that Korean H-Matic is able to deliver great pleasure.

The car responds responsive to the moves of the accelerator, the efforts on pedals are decent, and the transmissions are in the literal sense of the word sticking a small short-terrestrial joystick. All this makes it collected, gives rise to sports attitude. A plump three-span steering wheel is comfortable in hands, and Coupe is well listened. Is that on a speed direct zero could be clearer. In maneuvers, reliable feedback is felt, in the limit bodies, the car first glides to the outside, and when driving it easily, it is easily stabilized, for which some thanks to the Michelin Pilot Sport tires (215/45 R17). This is a bonus not too sophisticated drivers, because there is no stabilization system - electronics is represented only by ABS and a system of redistribution of braking effort.

The brakes confidently stop the 1400-kilogram machine from any speed. The only complaint is annoying clips. In general, the suspension comes reasonably combines the rigidity and necessary comfort genre. Front - Traditional McPherson, rear - multi-dimensional design, and there, and there are stabilizers of transverse stability. The suspension adequately copes with ordinary irregularities and only on a blocking, and even on the tram paths, the saddles are broken. But the rolls in the turns are small, and the reaction to the movement of the steering wheel is fast and accurate.

The interior is perhaps the weakest place to Hyundai Coupe. The advantages here are adjacent to obvious minuses. Convenient steering wheelchair, chaspinet holders, pretentious seams with red line, round ventilation nozzles (almost like Audi TT) - and with the mediocre quality of the front panel materials, its disputed plastic, inexpressive (but informative) devices, banal keys on The central console ... in a word, lacks the delight, so the necessary coupe. And the abundance of inserts for aluminum do not correct. Even the details designed to create the appropriate entourage can become an object of criticism. In sports highly raised pedals, for example, there will be uncomfortable people with a small foot size. Yes, the additional devices made on the console - fun mainly for passengers: show the stress in electrocups, instant fuel consumption and torque. By the way, rising drivers will be difficult to adjust the landing - the steering wheel is not exhibited.

Usually, speaking of the coupe, the brackets leave everything that is behind the front chairs. But still do not forget that Hyundai Coupe has such non-core assets as a spacious trunk and a second row of seats, albeit symbolic. This car is suitable for daily domestic use.

So, can a sports coupe wearing the name Hyundai? Looks like yes. Repeat, Coupe - a car moderately spectacular, quite dynamic, he has a V6 engine and a 6-speed box, it is pleasant in control and in general on the go. Of course, it is funny to compare it with more serious representatives of the genre - Audi TT, Mazda RX8, Nissan 350Z. But here is a strong argument in favor of Korean: $ 33,000 - with such a price he has practically no direct competitors in the Russian market, Toyota Celica, Honda Integra and Mitsubishi Eclipse are not officially sold in Russia. And the popular hot hatchbacks are not a coupe.
