The Honda Insight car characterizes, as it seems to me, two key points. Firstly, it is a very light body made of aluminum alloys, and, secondly, a small resistance force-both airy and in the rubbing nodes. As a result, Insight acquires its main advantage - small fuel consumption. Indeed, together with the auxiliary electric motor and a set of batteries, the machine weighs just a little more than 800 kg. And if without an auxiliary equipment, then its dry weight will be equal to only 700 kg. Not bad, right? If you put a power unit on this car with high power, then it will look very competitive even by world standards. But even with the engine that is equipped with Insight at the moment, that is, a gasoline volume of 995CS, there is no reason why it could not develop a very decent, and, most importantly, very economical move. Speaking otherwise, then his traction can be called quite decent, even if we assume that instead of the auxiliary engine and his battery, you would take with you a luggage equal in weight.
Sometimes you can hear that the hybrid does not justify itself even when driving together. In this case, I believe, this does not correspond to the facts. And all because Insight has small weight and low air resistance.
There is another group of ill -wishers who believe that, for example, Toyota Prius is a real hybrid, but the Honda Insight hybrid, but not real. I believe that this point of view stems from the fact that people have been fixated on the desire to have the so -called ecologically clean car. In their opinion, any machine that is driven by a traditional internal combustion engine, whether it is a hybrid installation or something else is a source of pollution. And now - take and ban all cars?
Of course, the control of a hybrid car has its own characteristics. It doesn’t matter if they seem to someone not playing a special role, but to someone-essential, but they are. So, the problem is as follows: can the management of such a machine bring joy or not? It depends on this what assessment to take out the car. I don’t know how how, but the control of the Honda Insight car gave me pleasure! Of course, people have various tastes. But, I think, before being judged, it would not hurt each judge to still get behind the wheel and try it yourself. For example, turning to the dealer and making a test drive.
Yes, I agree, in fact, this car has only two seats, and it needs to be evaluated precisely by the standards of a class of double cars. Of course, if you put it on one board with such a double model as Mazda Roadster, then it clearly does not reach its level. But if you compare the Insight with another Honda - S2000 model, I would probably recommend choosing Insight. And even more so I would prefer Insight if we were talking about comparing Toyota Mr-S!
General information about the machine
The Honda Insight hybrid model was the general public on September 6, 1999, following a trial ball in the car of Toyota Prius. Unlike its competitor, Toyota, in which the electric motor and the gasoline engine were, as it were, were opposed to each other, the Honda car was based on a different approach to solving the problem. The gasoline 3-cylinder engine in the Insight continues to carry the main load, just the operation of the alleged 4th cylinder constantly takes on an auxiliary electric motor. And, as one might expect, this approach predetermined the appearance of two of its varieties at once: a family car with 5 seats and a double compartment. These two versions of the same machine had significant differences from each other. Nevertheless, everything here feels an experimental character, which determines the greater attractiveness of the model.
