Sales of a new generation of Hychback Honda Civic started in 2006, and a year later the sports version of the Civic Type R.
 
The design of the new Civic Type R body is mainly the same as the five -door model. The machine acquired the individuality not due to a radical change in the body lines, but due to the presence of a number of unique exterior details. The original cone -shaped rear window gives the car a unique look and better streamlining. The protruding sides of the wings and a significantly expanded track, as well as the 18-inch wheels emphasize the sports attitude. The style of the novelty is indicated not only by the changed design of the doors and rear side panels, but also the elongated front and rear wings, the radiator grille with an enlarged air intake, the rear spoiler and the Type R logo on the front brake calipers.
 
The salon of the sports version is as spacious and comfortable as in the basic model. The fuel tank is located in the center of the body in the front seats, which is why the floor in the rear of the car is lower and flat. With a folded rear sofa (using a special drive system, its back can be easily and quickly lower) in the trunk of three mountain bicycles are placed, with a seat, the capacity is up to 1352 liters. If necessary, it is easy to partially increase the capacity of the trunk. For this, asymmetric separation of the rear sofa pillow (60/40) is provided. An effective mechanism with a sliding connection will help to return the seat to its previous position without the slightest effort. Under the floor of the luggage compartment is a special compartment with a capacity of 70 liters, it is convenient to store those things that should always be in the car, although they are rarely used.
 
The modern functional dashboard Type R is in no way inferior to the civil version. Information enters the screen as convenient as possible for the driver as possible: the main one is projected to the upper part of the display, secondary to the lower.
 
It should also be noted that in the new model, in contrast to the previous car, the Civic steering wheel is installed closer to the vertical plane, it can be adjusted by departure and angle of inclination. And the places of the driver and the front passenger became noticeably more spacious.
 
The Civic Type R salon is combined from elements of sports and road cars, so it is quite comfortable. Large side ledges of the seat pillows provide both the driver and the front passenger convenience and excellent side support. The chairs are inhabited by Alcantara in black with red firmware. The red covers of seats and backs contrast with them. Red the numbers on the dashboard are also highlighted, and the metal elements of the buttons are polished. The steering wheel is covered with perforated skin with red firmware. The handle of the transmission mechanism made of aluminum is enclosed in the casing of black leather with red firmware. The car provides many places for storing hand luggage. The glove box has a volume of 14 liters, inside it is a separate pocket for road maps. In the glove compartment, you can keep food and drinks: if necessary, it gives cold air from the air conditioner.
 
The pocket in the central part of the front console is intended for small items (for example, a mobile phone), and a double holder for cups is located under a cigarette lighter and an ashtray. On the front control panel there is a place for small gizmos (it will be possible to fit up to 22 CD).
 
The atmospheric engine Type R I-VTEC with a double upper camshaft of 2 liters, equipped with a VTC gas distribution phase system, has undergone significant changes. Now it is even more responsive, and thanks to the new electronic control system for the throttle damper and the balancing shafts, it works much more smoothly. The motor still has a high torque, while the speed range became wider.
 
The car accelerates to 100 km/h for 6.6 s, and the maximum speed is 235 km/h. These dynamic characteristics are identical to the previous generation Civic Type R. The weight of the machine, which has increased compared to the previous model, is compensated by improved aerodynamics and perfectly selected gear rates.
 
The sports style of the new model is also manifested in a more meticulous adjustment of the suspension, since original springs, shock absorbers and silent blocks were used, and the center of gravity was removed by 15 mm down. In addition, the already hard body is additionally hardened by amplifiers installed in the floor, around the upper suspension supports and in the engine compartment. Thus, a large body rigidity and, accordingly, more accurate control of the machine, is ensured.
 
The Civic Type R is equipped with an anti -lock brake system (ABS), an electronic brake force distribution system (EBD) and a course stability system (VSA), designed to help the driver to maintain the controllability of the car while moving in a bend, when accelerating or sudden maneuver using right -wing or left. wheels (depending on the situation), a change in pressure in the brake system, as well as when controlling the throttle.
 
Honda has always paid special attention to passive security. The new model contains both front and side airbags and air curtains of the auxiliary safety system, double preferences of the front seat belts, as well as an innovative system located on the control panel, which provides passengers in the rear seat about the need to fasten the belts.
 
Compared to the previous generation in Type R, equipment has improved significantly. Now the standard equipment provides for a two-zone climate control, CD-audio systems with support for MP3, an electric drive of the front glasses, cruise control, an electric drive with a memory function, adjusting a driver's seat in height.
