We celebrated the New Year, as expected, to automobile journalists driving. The Honda Civic sedan became our sleighs, and the route was 1,500 km from Moscow to Sochi.
Personally, I am a visualist. Choosing a car, first of all, I am guided by considerations of appearance. Of course, it is important how the machine is controlled, what is its power, ergonomics. But all this will be recognized later. And the car receives the first assessment in my eyes for the appearance. Smiles, attracts, want to pull the door handle? The answer to this question for me is one of the most important ... I will not shout in my soul, but, having received the keys to Sivik, I did not experience a big attraction to him. The hatchback can still attract with its cosmic forms and the desire to finally understand where he has the ass, and where before. The sedan is completely ingenuous: long and flat. If he were green, he would have every chance to become an official car of the crocodile genes.
However, the road was a long time for us, and therefore I nevertheless opened the door and plunged into the space interior of Sivka. Everything is much more interesting here. The caustic neon backlight goes well with the front panel in the high-tech style. The devices are divided into two parts: a tachometer and control lamps in the usual place, and the digital speedometer and additional signs are attributed to the windshield and are located above the steering wheel. As a result, when choosing a convenient position for the steering wheel, you can only be guided by your own sensations of the steering wheel in any position will not block a small tachometer. First reading readings from scattered devices is not very convenient, but you quickly get used to it.
On the long road, the exact value of the speed and the remainder of gasoline is always before the eyes. And the testimony of a tachometer on a car with a machine gun is not so important. Large distances and difficult route will allow us to evaluate both of them.
In the meantime, we load things and place bags. The trunk was surprisingly modest. Due to the full-size spare wheel, it has a very high floor and therefore it is inconvenient to load volumetric bags in it. But the salon is grace: thank you a huge wheelbase of 2700 mm (one of the best indicators in the class) and almost even floor at the rear passengers. There were three of us in the car, so they appreciated comfort from behind. Yes, and in front very spacious windshield of Minivan is taken far ahead. There was even a place for triangular windows, and on the huge countertop of the front panel there is enough space not only for the map, but also for a pair of cameras, video cameras, mobile phones and sunglasses. That's just one of the riders, who turned out to be behind, regularly complained about the cold, although those sitting in front suffered from stuffiness and did not want to make the stove warmer, afraid to fall asleep. But how the expensive audio system came in handy on the long road. Its sound is mediocre, but the CD changer reads the MP3-disk. So the full charge is enough for 48 hours of listening. The central console on Sivik is completely absent, and in its place the mass of multi -format closing pockets fit, where it is convenient to hide everything that lies on the front panel on the road. But enough preparations. Finally, blinking with red rear lights a la Ferrari night Moscow, we take the course south. Our goal is solar Sochi.

On the site of a paid road near Voronezh, where there is no traffic police, we decided at night to measure the maximum speed. But the most interesting test awaited us ahead ... almost without tension, replacing each other at frequent gas stations (although the manufacturer declares a tank of 50 liters, even when the sensor showed zero, we could not refuel more than 43 liters, which is not enough for distant warriors) , in 14 hours we defeated 1,500 km and in the morning of January 2 rested on mountain serpentine. The mountains are always interesting, but the situation was overshadowed by rain, despite the fact that on the plain the on -board computer showed a temperature of -1 degrees. In addition, most local cars are shod in summer and often Bald tires. Before our eyes, the driver of the brand new Volkswagen Passat stuck into the fencing of the road at a speed of 10 km/h. The minimum slope was enough to overcome all modern active security systems. Fortunately, our Civic was shod in the winter studded tires, and we decided to go around a long cork along the counterclaim, escorted by the amazed eyes of the drivers of cars: only Touareg and Land Cruiser coped with this task. Moreover, it is not necessary to adjust the rotation of the car, for the driver this will be done by the stabilization system. It turns out simultaneously quickly, and safely.
The fuel consumption on the highway also pleasantly surprised. According to the results of 1700 km, according to the on -board computer, it amounted to 8.2 liters per 100 km. This is significantly higher than the declared threshold, but we also drove very quickly, moreover, there were three of us in the car, and the weather overboard dropped to -18, which clearly does not contribute to fuel saving.
All our efforts were rewarded by the sea by the on -board computer joyfully showed +6 degrees. You can relax, drink dry red wine for arrival and New Year and go to bed.
