Three years have passed since the appearance of the seventh chord, and now the world bestseller reached the secondary market. In Russia, used chords are cheaper slowly, so even recent restyling could not knock down prices: two-three-year-olds cost from 22 to 30 thousand dollars in Moscow.

But on the market you can already find fresh Americans and sedan, and soon, perhaps diesel versions from Europe, which were officially did not supply us, will appear.

Sedans and station wagons were intended for Russia only to Japanese assembly (VIN begins with JHM letters). There is no special package, this is a completely European version. However, Honda always had it, and you should not be upset about this: the car is well adapted to our conditions, if only the front overhang is shorter.
The previous chord, despite excellent running qualities, did not like Europeans because of the high price and kutz set of options. But the seventh generation acquired a solid list of basic and additional equipment. Already in the simplest configuration of Comfort there are six airbags, athermal glasses, a two-zone climate control, the rear tablet table. A gentleman's set of machines is also included in the base: an electric package (including folding mirrors), gur, ABS, adjustable and angle of inclination of a steering column. In other trim levels, not so much is added. The most valuable options system of dynamic stabilization VSA and heating the front seats are already included in the relatively inexpensive Sport version. There were also spelled out alloy wheels of increased diameter (16 inches), leather the steering wheel, the rain sensor and, oddly enough for sports, make-up mirrors and cruise control. Unfortunately, in the new generation there is neither so beloved by fans of Honda Hot Type R, nor a full -wheel drive. The Japanese did not deprive themselves: they sold both Wagon 4x4 and a charged chord (2.0 liters, 220 hp), as if in a mockery called Euror. Ocean analogues are presented in two faces: Honda Chord (sedan and coupe) and Acura TSX (sedan). The luxury version of the Acura TL only formally refers to the chord family: they almost do not have common body parts, different engines, base, distinction in the suspension.
Americans attract the ability to order a car with a powerful (from 240 hp) V-shaped six (as a rule, they are looking only in this version). The second plus is a more spacious and comfortable interior (for example, the Akura TL 2004 of the year. A three-zone climate control with a solar lighting sensor, 10 driver's seats and a decent audio system). He received a sports body kit, xenon and fog, but lost heating of the seats. But the top executive with a leather salon, bixenon headlights, an electric hatch, a CD changer and a front-line subsidiary was in greatest demand in Russia.
Long -lived
On the in -line fours, the Hondians have long eaten a dog. In Russia, these highly phoned engines with proper care usually experience a car, withstanding over 300 thousand km without overhaul. A square (86x86 mm) two -liter engine, produced for more than ten years with slight changes, was also registered on a new chord along with its long -term counterpart of 2.4 liters (see the history of the model). The first by modern standards is unclenched (the degree of compression of only 9.6: 1) and, if necessary, digest and A-92 instead of the recommended AI-95. However, the car with automatic transmission 92nd is suitable in any case, if only it would not be surrogate. With the spark plugs, ordinary Russian gasoline (especially high -octane) straightens quickly, so there is no meaning to go bankrupt to expensive iridium. The timing drive is chain, so the volume of regulatory work on the engine is minimal. Interervice interval 15 thousand km.
The state of cooling and lubrication systems The first concern of the buyer of a used car. A thick brown ointment under the lid of the cylinder head is more often found on the Americans (an occasion to conduct in -depth diagnosis). The radiators clogged with fluff and dirt on all cars. Here they are located one after another, so the purity of both is an indispensable condition for the normal cooling of the engine. Overheating is destructive for any motor, and for the forced Hondovsky especially. Check the fluid level in the expansion tank and (after cooling the engine) in the radiator.
Sixes are no less reliable, but very expensive to maintain and repair. Therefore, given the American origin of these machines and the lack of a guarantee, they must be doubly carefully watched.
Hybrid chords from the United States are unlikely to appear in Russia soon, but the first Hondovsky turbodiesel with direct injection, which caused such delight among Europeans, is already offered to order.
Do not bother the car
The transmission of the chord is reliable: it is usually not earlier than after a run of 200 thousand km. The five -speed machine today is one of the best: fast and understandable. True, sometimes the owners complain that after a long (more than a few hours) parking, at the beginning of the movement, a strange click or a knock in the transmission occurs. You should not be scared: this VSA system checks the work of the brakes, in turn, pressing the brake pads alternately.
On restyled machines, the VSA system is included in the basic equipment. And since it works in the entire speed range, adjusting the trajectory of movement (the more persistent, the closer the car is to slip), then lovers of sharp rebuilding and quick turns need to be reckoned with accelerated wear of the brake pads and disks.
The new chord was almost completely borrowed from the predecessor (ZR, 2004, No. 7, p. 194). The penny bushings of stabilizers (40 thousand km) wear out the fastest here, their racks work a little longer (5060 thousand km), about 100 thousand km can withstand the balls of the upper levers (the lever assembly). The remaining elements serve 150 or more thousand, and the rear levers are practically indestructible (accidents do not count). Thus, the expenses of the first, and even the second owner for the suspension are very moderate. By the way, Honda is one of the few firms that remained faithful to the steel levers. Of the newfangled aluminum alloy, only a massive rear rotary fist is an absolutely justified solution.
Somehow inaccurate
A spoonful of tar in a barrel of honey tried soon after the start of sales of new chords. There were reports about problems with adjusting the wheel of the rear axle: the collapse of the right rear did not climb into the framework established for it, remaining far in the minus even with new cars. Fortunately, there were few corrosive customers. Someone was convinced of the need for congenital chroma, someone was digested a nut on a subframe, and someone was changed to the same.
It can only be guessed about the hidden benefit of the asymmetry of the suspension, but it does not seem to have any noticeable effect on controllability and wear of tires. However, after restyling, this feature of the design disappeared. And for the neatly in the catalog there is an elongated upper lever, it will straighten the posture of the car once and for all. The same effect can be achieved by finalizing the hole for the bolt of fastening with a round file, but without the approval of Honda.
Another trouble in the first year of sales was eliminated under warranty. We are talking about reprogramming an electric drive control unit in the fifth door at the station wagon. Gas stops did not always hold a heavy the door, and that after lifting could spontaneously sink onto the owner's head. Now the motor holds it in any case, and when weakening the stops, the control unit records the corresponding error.
By the way, Honda, despite the use of multiplex tires, has not yet abandoned convenient self -diagnosis: fault codes can be considered without additional equipment, closing the diagnostic connector with a paper clip and turning on the ignition.
THE CONTINUITY OF GENERATIONS
The restyling of this year, in fact, did not affect the fillings of the seventh chord. Radiator grille and wheels pattern changed, frameless brushes and an intra -sulfate mirror with auto -damping have appeared, the rear spoiler on the turla increased, and the VSA system was added in the standard equipment. Well, probably, you should not change what works well. Indeed, last year, according to the analysis made by the independent English insurance agency Warranty Direct, more than 55,000 cars were the chord were recognized as the most reliable among used cars.
