Prepared for the meeting by the reviews of the owners and journalists, I was even surprised when, climbing the driver's seat of the Great Wall Wingle 5 Pikap, I did not find a nauseous smell of cheap organic chemistry in the cabin. But this is only the first surprise ...
Outwardly, Wingle 5 looks stylish and quite in the spirit of time, but its interior in terms of design is unremarkable. However, this is a logical explanation, because the interior of the working car should be simple, but functional and practical. It was such a salon that was at the Chinese truck.
In front are comfortable seats with decent upholstery and tangible lateral support. The adjustments are simple, mechanical, there is only the most necessary. The back is a wide sofa, somewhat harsh for a long journey, but tolerant from the point of view of trips to near and medium distances. A tool is fixed under the sofa, which, however, is enough only to replace the wheels pierced on the highway.
The torpedo and door panels look good, there are no cracks and distortions anywhere. Nothing here creaks and does not rattle when driving even on a very crossed area.
The dashboard is well read and does not work on the nerves with flickering dials and out of place with flashing lights. In a word, at first glance it seems that everything here is made of quality materials and is securely fixed.
The test car engine is gasoline, relatively low -flowing, 2.3 liters and a capacity of 106 horses at 4600 rpm. It must be admitted that for a massive car that is able to carry five people and half a ton of cargo on board, not power is important, but such characteristics as torque, engine elasticity and properly selected gearboxes of the mechanical gearbox. At first glance, the moment of the Wingle 5 motor does not affect only 190 nm (like the old Volga GAZ-24), but it remains so in a wide range, which gives a feeling of good traction and elasticity.
The box of Chinese engineers, obviously, was developed taking into account the characteristics of the motor, mass of the car and its purpose. Therefore, the first gear here is very short, only to move and accelerate a little. The second is somewhat longer, but the third one turned out so long that the pickup on it is capable of not only crawling at a speed of 15 20 km/h, but also easily accelerate to 80. The programs, with the exception of the indistinct rear, are turned on clearly, though the moves of the handle are long , and to turn on the third and fifth gears you have to stretch.
The declared maximum speed of Wingle 5 is 157 km/h. I didn’t get the car to such a figure, but I walked with me on the Kyiv highway, and confidently: I didn’t scour, I obeyed the steering wheel well, and it felt that she still had a decent supply.
By the way, about the steering. Again, a contradictory impression: on the one hand, the car reacts sensitively and predictably to manipulations with a steering wheel, although the number of revolutions from edge to edge for my taste is larger than necessary. On the other hand, the steering wheel is too light and non -informative. Moreover, he never wants to independently take place after steep turns, and he has to argue every time. What is this: a constructive shortage or incorrectly adjusted gathering, disorder? We only have to hope that insufficient controllability is treated ...
The biggest surprise was presented to me by the suspension. If it is comfortable in front, then in the back is hard not in moderation. After the first few hundred meters, I had the feeling that the front and back suspensions are here from different cars. Even if you take into account that the pickup is almost a truck, and that it has a serious load on the rear axle, the semi -elliptical springs of the rear axle seemed to me oak in the full sense of the word. On the condenses of Wingle 5, despite the long base, the goat is stronger than the three-door Niva, any uneven road responds with tangible shocks in the soft places of passengers sitting behind, and the lying traffic police officers have to be overcome crawling, otherwise you will not get a craniocular injury for an hour.
The brakes made a strange impression on me. Of course, when it was necessary, they worked effectively, and the pedal behaved absolutely predictably, but at first for some reason they grabbed the rear brakes, and then the front ones. I faced a similar phenomenon for the first time. Is this a tricky idea of \u200b\u200bdesigners or a defect in adjustment?
Summary
Let's start with positive. Despite the asceticism of the driver’s workplace and scarcity or the lack of adjustable adjustments on cars, you feel comfortable while driving and do not even get tired of traffic jams, when you have to squeeze the clutch pedal and quickly stick the second gear, and then the third, to which the second one has to be squeezed out. We still have to reach. The steering wheel lies okay in his hands, all switches in their places. The stove blows where it is supposed to and, by the way, the interior warms up quickly enough.
Very smoothly, almost imperceptibly, without shocks and extraneous sounds, the front -wheel drive is turned on, after which the car turns into a good frame (!) SUV, and the reducing transmission allows it to adequately cope with icy tracks, and with snowdrifts, and with other delights of the crossed winter near Moscow areas.
However, as mentioned above, an excessively strict rear suspension acts on the nerves, and the unwillingness of the steering wheel does not allow to relax in place. In addition (and this is important), the owner of Wingle 5 will never feel a full-fledged participant in the movement either along the city streets or along the speed high due to the insufficient speed maneuverability of the car, which clearly lacks power or torque even at incomplete load. Over time, you get used to it, but you never get pleasure.
The stereo system sounds flat and unreasonably, nevertheless, even with medium volume, it makes the side glass rattles. The rear doors are narrow, so passengers are not only not very convenient to sit on the couch with an almost vertical back, but also climb on it. If you are the head of a large Chinese family, you are unlikely to be happy to load the children back each time, and then also look at the lottron, more quickly the seat with bouncing children.
