Two years ago, Ford Mondeo was only in the middle of the tournament table of the top ten of the most popular models of the D-segment in Russia, yielding to Toyota Avensis, Mazda6, VW Passat and Honda Accord. But with the beginning of production in Vsevolozhsk Mondeo in the body of a sedan and lower prices for this model, the alignment of the forces has changed dramatically. By the end of 2009, Ford came out in the third place, giving only Folks and Mazda, and this summer Mondeo became the bestseller of the Russian D-segment! At the same time, Ford dealers were lucky: on the success wave Mondeo started sales of its updated version, which will attract even more attention to buyers to this model.

Although Russian New Mondeo sales began in October, the updated sedan of Vsevolozhskaya assembly (most likely from the experienced party) I met in St. Petersburg, in early September, just a couple of days after returning from the Pan-European test drive Mondeo, which was held in Munich. In Munich, it was not possible to ride in the sedans here, only Hatchbacks and universals of the Belgian assembly were presented. We have such machines cost much more expensive sedan, so the demand for them is small: 5-door body choose about 2% of buyers. But, evaluate the metamorphosis that happened to the updated model, it did not prevent any type of body they are the same.

The appearance of the car after restyling is the mixture of old and new. In the case of Mondeo, new ingredients turned out to be not so much, and most of them swam on the surface. The front of the car has changed the strongest. The adjustment grille from the trapezium turned into a hexagon, simultaneously increasing in size, and the lining of the radiator, on the contrary, was a little horrid, having obtained chrome edging and a strip disseminating it into two halves. The LED strips of overall lights stretched over the fog lights, which are set on the version of Titanium and Ghia. LEDs appeared in the rear lights (feet and dimensions), and at all modifications without exception.

In the cabin of innovations and is less. A slightly modified the design of the center console and the top of the door panels. LED lighting lamps appeared in the ceiling with a new tissue upholstery, and the cup holders on the central tunnel were covered with a curtain. In addition, new finish materials were selected, including high-quality windsor skin, and a Russified navigator appeared in the list of options. Exploring the salon, I drew attention to the COMFORT, NORMAL and SPORT buttons located at the bottom of the central console used to be there now. As it turned out, these are the buttons of the new CDC suspension stiffness system, optionally installed on the Titanium and GHIA version.

On the test, we were provided with the most powerful modifications of Mondeo with the newest gasoline turbo engine 2.0 EcoBOOST, which develops 240 liters. p., and 200-strong Turbodiesel 2.2 TDI. Equipped with a superior and direct injection of fuel, the ecobust gives the maximum torque of 340 nm in the interval from 1900 to 3500 min-1, providing excellent acceleration from the lowest and while remaining very elastic. Such a motor is only in a pair with a 6-speed PowerShift robot, and it works simply perfectly: thanks to two switches, the switching occurs solely smoothly.

The upgraded 2.2-lit-pove turbodiesel on the handle liked less. When you start, there is a filigree accuracy of working with an accelerator and a rigid clutch pedal, otherwise the motor can be easily drowning. But on the track turbodiesel king: pulls perfectly and does not bother noise, if not twist it above 2500 min-1. But we will not be offered this motor. The only diesel unit, accessible by Russian Mondeo buyers, is a 140-strong 2.0 TDI, and considering our experience, it is necessary to take it exclusively with a machine gun.

Driving
As before, Mondeo is perfectly controlled, although someone's steering wheel may seem heavy.

At the highest level. Moreover, regardless of whether the Mondeo is an active suspension CDC or not.

Safety
Five stars Euro NCAP, plus ABS and 7 airbags in the database. But the stabilization system is placed only for extra charge.

The model has rise in price by 1020 thousand rubles.

Our opinion
The absence of fundamental changes in the updated Mondeo speaks of a successful initial design of the model. Nevertheless, I received an update not so little: stylish face, EcoBoost motors with PowerShift robot, new options and interior trim options. At the same time, the price of the model rose slightly.
