Of course, the modern IMPALA is a very beautiful car, but I think it would not have been able to attract as much attention as the same model, released in 1963. Hefty, as they like to express themselves, blood-red crocodile, competes with modern limousines in length, and this despite the fact that he has a convertible body. In those years, when our car industry was still gathering victory on his knee, the Americans had the joy of driving on such cars - a power steering, an automatically sweet roof, a V -shaped eight under the hood. So that I live like that!
I must say that the appearance of Chevrolet IMPALA on our test is an event out of the ordinary. Such cars no longer correspond to the concept of a used Automobil and have an appropriate price tag. Such cars are not bought in order to ride or tax - they need to be loved, cherished and enjoy them. But most of our compatriots, especially this applies to men, cannot understand such beauty - all their questions concerned only the power of the engine and ... fuel consumption. Apparently, the next rise in the cost of gasoline had a table of a table on their brain that even those cars that they are unlikely to ever ride, they are still out of habit, sorted by fuel consumption. One such pragmatist, having learned that IMPALA has a very good appetite, even asked: what, they say, do not put gas equipment?
In the past, I have already been driving a car of this type, it was the 1960 Caddillac Eldorado, so even a car so atypical for our latitudes, like a Chevrolet Impala, I had something to compare with. And I must say that if it were a comparative test, Impala would have won a confident victory. Despite the fact that Chevrolet has always been a cheaper car than Cadillac, IMPALA is much higher in its running qualities. Of course, it is a little incorrect to compare cars of this age, because the degree of safety of the car itself, as well as the number of non -original, modern parts, plays a huge role here, but Impala is simply felt as a more expensive car. Yes, and he travels much softer, easier to manage. Although, probably, the word easier sounds incorrectly in relation to American cars of that time - the hydraulic wrap is so powerful that you can really drive a car with one finger. But despite this, the steering wheel cannot be called empty - the car is controlled perfectly, and only in the coolest turns, when the wheels are twisted more than half, the steering is slightly lacking information. However, IMPALA is still not intended for racing or high -speed maneuvering, so the smoothness of the course is much more important, and it is here on top. To say that in the movement IMPALA as if floating is nothing to say. All pits and road defects seem to dissolve somewhere below, and even on the most frank leales the car simply swinging smoothly. But the largest buzz is just to second an elastic floor gas pedal into a polish. All modern cars have a variety of electronic bridles, which is why even powerful sports cars accelerate a little smoother, without jerking. Impala with its archaic automatic and now unpopular carburetors do everything differently, it seems like it is more natural. Firstly, it feels that the engine works at full power, and not in the mode that they have chosen electronic brains for it - even at speeds over a hundred Impala, it breaks off as crazy, forcing many modern cars to press gas in order to resist the rarity. And it is interesting, of course, the incredible sound accompaniment in its beauty is a deaf, gurgling sound, which itself forces passers -by to turn around.
Chevrolet Impala is the only car from the set on which I have drove, in which I absolutely do not want to be behind the wheel. No, the car is beautiful in motion, and with its deaf gurgling sound and amazing power with jerks on accelerations, he is able to deliver a lot of pleasure to the connoisseur, but the passenger to go to Impala is even more pleasant. No need to observe a distance, keep a wide car in your lane - just enjoy. And you can also observe the reaction of fellow citizens - such cars do not meet on our roads every day and attracts a lot of attention, especially when the top is complicated. In the few hours that I spent in IMPALA, I learned to read the lips - drivers of neighboring cars, pedestrians and even traffic cops at the sight of our crew considered it their duty to pronounce a strong word, usually characterizing the degree of admiration. Some simply escorted the car with a look, others signal and blinked with headlights, the children waved their hands and simply screeching with delight. On that day, we probably cheered up to many.
