CHEVROLET AVEO (Kalos) Sedan West Drive Sedan

City baby

The advertising slogan sounds Get Real! Like, return (or turn) to reality. Although on the tiny platform of the tiny Wroclaw airport, where Aveo and I first met, the cars looked somehow unusually. As if they were poured here from a New Year's bag with gifts: several red, several azure, and still yellow, like chickens. Here on such a chicken I drove the first couple of hundred kilometers along the roads of Silesia.
Thanks to the efforts of designers, the Chevrolet style is now recognizable, regardless of which country the car has been produced in. From Aveo with a cross on a wide crossbar, which now shares a huge radiator grille clearly blows the spirit of the legendary sports Chevrolet. In the appearance of a compact car, good -naturedness and aggressiveness, emphasized ahead of round foglights in black slots of the lower part of the bumper and curved headlights with transparent distressors, were amazingly combined.
In fact, the new Aveo is positioned by GM as the first modern Chevrolet model made in Europe. In 2008, approximately 60 thousand such cars will go from the conveyor of the FSO plant in Warsaw, and in 2009 up to 100 thousand. We are proud that we are building Chevrolet cars in the European Union for European buyers, Wayne Branon, Executive Director of Chevrolet Europe, emphasized. The plant in Poland increases the global production capacities of Chevrolet, allows us to ensure growing demand in the region, and also reduces the time and distance of supply.
And the blonde is better!
Wroclaw, who was called Breslau until the middle of the forties, was one of the largest cities in pre -war Prussia and the capital of Silesia. The city center is still struck by truly German architecture, but what lies beyond it, well, just like Central Russia or, say, eastern Ukraine. Forests, fields, fields only flashed by the gloomy obelisk grave of Field Marshal Blucher, who played in 1815 a decisive role near Waterloo recalls that you are still almost in Europe. Almost because, no matter how charming Polish villages are, they are far from German neat.

However, there was especially no time to look at beauty. Under me, the new Chevrolet Aveo with a 1.4-liter engine (100 hp) and with a 5-speed gearbox. I must say right away: the first three programs were enough by the eyes, and on the two remaining Aveo openly rested and accelerated only under the hill. Therefore, apparently, the spark did not slip between us: we are not a couple with this Chevrolet, I would rather see a platinum blonde in the pink she would look in this salon, as they say, glamorous.

But seriously, the car is made very, very soundly. A high -quality design of the cabin, in which everything is in its place, immediately catches the eye. The dashboard is laconic (nothing superfluous), but informative. The blonde will easily cope with the microclimate and audio system. All details are adjusted to each other without the slightest flaws like that and you will not always meet with European cars. However, although Aveo has Korean roots, they collect it in Poland.
The little car is emphasized by the urban: tiny wheels, short overhangs in front and rear, excellent maneuverability to turn around, for example, on a patch. But the speed
Inty
During the test drive, three versions of Aveo were presented. The simplest with an engine is 1.2 with a capacity of 84 hp. and with a 5-speed manual box (by the way, different from the one that is installed on a more powerful engine). The second Aveo already mentioned above with a stusial engine and again with mechanics. And the third with a 1.4-liter engine and a 6-speed automatic. It was not possible to get acquainted with the latter. And maybe it's even good. I will explain why.
At one time, I had to buy a car with a 1.3 engine with a capacity of only 82 hp. However, this relatively low-power engine dispersed my not the smallest sedan much more agile than the 100-horsepower Aveo engine. Already something, and the torque has always been enough. But Aveo sometimes does not get him! Especially when overtaking or on lifts.

Imagine: a fabulously beautiful road curling into the forests covering the Sudeters. Descent-lift, descent-lift. So, if there were no problems with the descent, then there were lifting. The fourth gear, the gas pedal is rested on the floor, the engine simply rings at high speeds, and the speedometer arrow shines to the right at an hour by millimeter! Well, where is it good?! Actually, that's why it was said that the first three gears are enough for the eyes. Unless the fifth will use the fifth more economically on autobahns.
On the second day, moving to the lazorer Aveo 1.2, I tried for a long time to understand why, having 84 horsepower under the hood, this little car does not want to accelerate? There are harsh police control on Polish roads: in settlements, a restriction of 50 km/h, outside 90, on the 130 highway, however, I do not always want to weave after ancient opening, not to mention agricultural machinery. But to overtake their problem on the highway Aveo gains the desired 130 and even 140 km/h, but somehow reluctantly.
His element
Everything fell into place when we drove into the city. The paths are narrow (not Moscow at all), the turns are sharp, the traffic lights are frequent. It was then that the baby Aveo showed everything that is capable of. The suspension is quite comfortable on a small Wroclaw paving stones, the brakes are spacing, the gas is enough to tear from traffic lights.
As usual, in inaccuracies crept into a route-paper (a map with a detailed listing of the desired turns). Honestly, I have never held an accurate row-paper in my hands. In general, they got lost to find the road, because in Russian they understand those Poles who are over 40, and in English those who are less than 20. We came across exclusively born in the 70s, nevertheless, with a sin in half, the general direction of movement managed to establish. And Aveo helped, squeezing into narrow lanes, turning in them when we understood that once again we turned the wrong way.
In an hour of wandering, the city is very beautiful, we studied the multi -colored thoroughly. And our toy cars in it were just right. But what will happen on the cold Moscow streets? I think that Aveo will find a place for us. Unless, of course, the price does not scare away, it still starts from 382 thousand rubles, almost 11 thousand euros.
And the next day, an acquaintance with Epica took place.
It also changed both externally and internally. Today in it is not ashamed to roll on a corporate party or ride a girl. By the way, the design of the dashboard is almost the same as in Aveo. In all other things, another class is already: seats, leather seats, a 6-speed machine with a manual gear mode. Nevertheless, it should be taken into account that they invited us to the sake of Aveo, and therefore acquaintance with the Epica sedan was only an episode.
Well, we went to the outskirts, marveling on one side of the softness of the gear, and on the other hand, how much these programs are stretched. The pedal on the floor, the motor roars, and there is no acceleration in both automatic and manual mode. And in manual it is even less. No, the updated Epica is not a step, but a confident jump forward. But Chevrolet should still decide, and buy boxes even more automatic from those who have long been able to do it. Because such beauty should rush rapidly. And to be less voracious fuel, because today everything is more expensive in Europe and us
