At the first meeting at the evening presentation, it seemed to me that the car was alive - her face is so expressive. The most appropriate comparison is a big, beautiful, but at the same time a dangerous and aggressive predator. The external design is impeccable - the body lines harmoniously go into another, all the details look one. Of course, the exterior of the car is characterized by the proportions of the classic compartment: an elongated hood, a shut -off salon, a long wheelbase and short overhangs.
The samurai section of the front headlights, wide nostrils, the wide central part of the hood and a low short roof create a feeling of squatterness of the machine. BMW 645CI looks no less impressive behind: the spoiler is integrated into the trunk cover, aerodynamic elements are guessed even in LED rear lights. Two oval exhaust pipes indicate that a serious engine is hiding under the hood.
Kooman suit. In the morning everyone was looking forward to - I really wanted to try the six on the road. Having received the keys, the first thing we tried to download the camera into the car. And for a long time they looked for where the trunk button is located. It turned out that it was necessary to press directly on the BMW emblem. The icon is shed inside, and the trunk opens. Original. The trunk himself turned out to be unexpectedly roomy for the compartment - as many as 450 liters. You can put a couple of suitcases here without problems. For the sake of curiosity, the carpet was raised - under it there was a reserve, a battery and various little things: an emergency stop sign, spare lights and so on.
The cabin is spacious. The fact that the rear passengers here will not have to sit in the form of a question mark were especially pleased - there are enough space for their legs. Otherwise, a modest luxury: leather, expensive plastic, wood inserts and galvanized aluminum ... Seats, armrests, door handles and panels of the central console are tightened with the skin already in the basic configuration. Three levels of heating levels have three positions in memory and are tuned in almost all planes of euclidean geometry.
Kokpit, according to the long tradition of BMW, is turned to the driver here. All controls are concentrated in the steering wheel and central console, but the salon is clearly not overloaded with numerous buttons. However, there is nothing surprising in this - all the functions of comfort management are concentrated in the already familiar Idrive controller, located on the armrest of the central console.

 
 
Exit to the trump cards. Rummaging the odometer, touch the road. Although touched - this is softly said. We take a low start. The first pressure on the gas causes a storm of emotions - the body gently presses into the back of the seat, and the head knocks on the headrest. Animal ?? Acceleration is accompanied by a juicy roar of a tuned two -way exhaust system - even passers -by move away from the roadway and look at us with apprehension. Interestingly - at idle and low revolutions the exhaust sound is practically unable.
Having estimated the route laid through mountain serpentines, we came to the conclusion that it does not quite suit us. I really wanted to step on the floor, so we decided to go along high -speed paid roads. As the final item, they chose the southern southern point of Spain - Gibraltar.
Having fused about 15 minutes around the city and catching more than a dozen curious views of local motorists, we went on a paid road. Police with radars here, fortunately, smaller than on the Moscow-Peter highway. On the way, we did not get tired of praising the steering wheel. Small, unusually thick, it is so pleasant that it seems to be a natural continuation of its own hands. The car is controlled directly fabulously, and in many ways - thanks to the Servotronic hydraulic power. It regulates the force on the steering wheel depending on the speed of movement. During parking, for example, the steering wheel spin so easily, as if it is not related to the wheels at all. And on the highway, during a sharp overtaking, strengthening on the steering wheel increases markedly. An active steering system was also installed on our car, which is actually offered as an option. This system changes not only the degree of amplification, but also the gear ratio. It is very comfortable. At speed, the steering wheel becomes especially sharp and sensitive, and in the parking lot it is enough to make two turns of the lamb so that the wheels turn out of one extreme position to another.
Six beats ace. BMW 645CI provokes the driver to ride quickly. We caught ourselves thinking that our speed rarely dropped below 180-200 kilometers per hour. And at such a speed you feel calm and confident at the wheel. It was necessary to slow down only while traveling points. I must say that from the habit, we flew into a narrow pocket leading to automatic barrier, so briskly that the radio -controlled barrier barely managed to open. Thank God, the brakes in the six are excellent. Moreover, the number of LEDs in the stop signals changes depending on the effort attached to the pedal.
On our car stood a 6-speed automatic gearbox with an adaptive control system AGS. It was pleasantly surprised that the box thinks very quickly. The pause between the pressure on the gas and acceleration is minimized and is almost not felt. The machine quickly adapts to the driving style and traffic conditions. For example, when moving under the slope, a low gear is turned on to slow down with the engine. And in the turns or in a dense city stream there are no excessive switching. Of course, the Steptronic box has a manual switch. By the way, the automatic box on the BMW 645CI is the option. In the basic configuration, the machine is equipped with mechanical 6-speed mechanics. And for particularly advanced drivers, a 6 -speed automated sequential gearbox SMG with gear petals is offered on the steering wheel, as in Formula 1. In addition to the fact that switching time here is reduced to 0.15 seconds, SMG is designed for a monstrous maximum torque - 600 nm .
The next pleasant opening was the FDC button (Fahr Dynamic Control). This function converts the car into sports mode. When the button is pressed, the setting of the steering becomes more sports, and the engine is untwisted to maximum revolutions. If the machine is equipped with a SMG box, then the gear shift time is automatically reduced.
We tested the coveted button on one of the straight sections of the highway. The speed at this moment was about 190 km/h, and black Mercedes S-Klasse with German numbers hung on the tail. He did not want to lag in any way, and we decided to demonstrate to the uncomfortable German who is the master on the road. There were almost no cars on the road. Mercedes lagged behind at a speed of 230 km/h - its driver considered us for complete scumbags, although we were also scary. And at a speed of 250 km/h, cutting worked. Alas, or rather - fortunately, the maximum speed is limited by electronics.
 
 
All trump cards. We did not notice how we flew to Gibraltar. They drank coffee and began to think how to get to the final point of our journey. The fact is that after we drowned out the engine, for some reason navigation hung and no longer wanted to load a single route. Turning out for half an hour with her, we bought a map at the nearest gas station and found the right way. I had to go here a little slower, because the road went along the mountainous terrain and began to loop it very much.
I had to constantly upset myself, since with an active passage of turns the car does not roll at all, it stands on the road as a glove, and the driver creates a feeling of overall impunity. This is due to the Dynamic Drive reel system. This system not only increases comfort, but also allows you to pass turns at a very high speed.
In the BMW 645CI, several complex systems for monitoring the course stability are combined into one - DSC. It includes the already mentioned Dynamic Drive, ABS, a system for braking control at CBC turns and an automatic ASC stability control system. In addition, the car is equipped with a dynamic DTC traction system. It increases the traction capabilities on the drive wheels, especially on winter tracks. On our difficult roads, such a six will undoubtedly be trumped.

The first BMW of the sixth series left the assembly line in 1976. This elegant premium compartment turned out to be unusually successful. Sakuli noses of old sixes have forever went down in history and are still beautiful in their own way. Until the end of production in 1989, more than 86,000 cars were sold. The first model received the 630 CS index, and it can be easily distinguished from subsequent modifications by a characteristic small rear bumper. The next in the lineup of six were the BMW 628 CSI, and on the top of the lineup - the BMW 635 CSI. In single copies, the BMW M6 with a 24-valve 286-horsepower engine was produced. For the American market, 630CSI and 633CSI and the most luxurious version of L6 were produced.
BMW 645CI was made from scratch. This is not surprising - over 15 years, automotive technologies have stepped so far ahead that the innovations of the mid -eighties are hopelessly outdated today. Even outwardly, cars are not at all like. Compared to the small, cute old-fashioned and some kind of air, the new 645ci looks like a heavy spaceship from the distant future.
