For six months of the Bavarian penny service in the Autopilot editorial office, we, it seems to us, have been quite well studied by its technical features and sled habits. And you were in good faith about them. So, if you remember, the first thing they helped to avoid possible confusion, saying that 118i is not 1.8 liters of working volume at all, as someone might think, but two liters. Marveled at a very strange completion of our specific machine, where there is, for example, such a solid-pathos thing as separate climate control, but there is no such elementary, as an electrical regulation of seats (and manual adjustment is not very comfortable). They focused on amazing, almost racing settings of the whole around the motor periphery (especially enthusiastically noting the suspension, brakes and steering), which allow the driver to feel excellently with the very aggressive-river driving mode. Well and so on.
We exploited it to the fullest. Someone wiped around urgent urban affairs and realized that it came out faster than many others; A lot of time is saved. Someone traveled to Seliger with his family, someone took the refrigerator to the cottage-and it turned out that she was not so small if you load wisely. We wrote a lot. Now it is a turn to talk about the positioning of the model and about its typical riders. Here and here, in the West and in Russia. With the first region, everything turned out to be simple, with the second - a complete misunderstanding.
 
In her homeland, in Germany, the Bavarian penny has already managed to firmly occupy a well -defined marketing niche, and the local contingent of its users is clear as a day. These are young ambitious people from Midl Class, gambling for their lives, while hot. They still have ahead, they are damn teeth and mobile, they can work hard and relax very intensively. On Friday evening, breaking out of the offices that have been disgusting during the work week, they are still beer in their Munich Birshtuba; And on Saturday, for dinner, they are already in the Alps with a paraglider and a girlfriend or on the azure with an aqualanga and a friend; And on Monday, they are already in offices again and smoke, they smoke further ... For such an active contingent, just a penny is needed-fast, sporting, prestigious, prestigious, but relatively inexpensive (there). This is their car. She is quite according to their teeth and money, by status and career. For them, a penny is a step towards a three -license plate, and there is already not far from the five.
 
I judge this, in particular, by Munich. There, in the capital of the BMW concern, kopecks are just a shaft.
We, in Russia, are somehow more difficult. It seems that the contingent, in the spirit and lifestyle of the corresponding Bavarian penny, was already born in bulk (at least in our two largest megacities), but there are very few cents themselves on the streets. And the contingent of their users is far from as clearly outlined as in the West, or rather, simply blurred.
 
I specially looked closely. For the entire time of our long test on the daily route, the house-edit and back counted no more than a dozen BMW of the first series. (This is amazing, since the path lies past different business centers, where, in theory, the contingent is.) And three cars were remembered, which walked parallel to me. I am not a physiognomist, but still tried to identify their drivers. In the first, she stood on a traffic light relatively young, but already very solid in appearance of the Matron in a stylish business jacket, a typical business woman, and I was already imbued with respect, but when she pulled a burning bull from the window, he immediately dispensed. Such a jacket somehow does not join with vulgar gestures. In the second, a very tense unearthly creation with clapping eyelashes drove in the right series; on an unnaturally straight back (I note that in fact, BMW has a reclining landing), according to a frightened look and clung to the steering wheel with half-children's fingers was completely clear that the car was presented with a papik for the 18th anniversary, and the rights were purchased yesterday. Well, in the third car, glancing and digging in his ear, he was dragging in a traffic jam with an inexpressive man with such a dull and pay face with which comic balses were listening to Jerome and receive a proposal to go out with him (with his face) to the garden. No, his career does not shine, that's for sure.
 
Of course, this sample is not very representative, but, judging only by it, then involuntarily you come to the conclusion that there is still no one, firmly conquered from the competitors of the Bavarian penny in Russia. And there is no stable contingent of users.
By the way, what does a young, but already able to earn a ambitious contingent in Russia, is going in Russia? Yes, too, mainly at the golf class! Only on a little less premium-Lancers, masts, tricks, tricks ... And if the first Bavarian series is slightly cheaper than it is, and if the people did not have a persistent prejudice that, they say, BMW starts with a third, then they would willingly go And on it.
 
In parting (not with you, with a test machine), we will only say that the entire editorial office liked the penny. It was a pity to part.
Yes, she stands like a BMW. But she drives like BMW!
