I got to the test, perhaps, the most gambling of the existing versions - diesel BMW 120d Sport with a long list of additional equipment. The first impression, in the cabin it became more spacious, especially behind. Due to the 30 mm of the wheelbase increased on the gallery, you can sit on the gallery without resting your knees into the front chair. In addition, the space above the head increased slightly, and the doors began to open on a larger corner, facilitating landing. The trunk also got, the volume of which added 30 liters and now reaches 360 liters.


Salon is a reduced copy of senior BMW models. But the finishing materials are simpler here, although ergonomics are the same reference. A large navigation screen is available as the option. The most famous objects of the capital are here with a 3D-proceeding.

Compared to the predecessor, the design of the interior of the new 1 series has changed dramatically. In general, a reduced and simplified copy of the senior models of the concern: simple, convenient, strictly and even somewhere a little rude. There are no complaints about ergonomics. Optional front seats are perfectly provided and tightly hug passengers with adjustable side support, the chubby steering wheel lies in the hands of as a glove, the dashboard is perfectly marked, and a wide 8.8-inch display is full of excellent graphics. Although the efforts on levers and keys are worked out with German clarity, as if observing subordination, BMW 3 Series is inferior in quality of materials. There is less sophistication in the decoration, like the new Audi or Mercedes, but there is practically nothing to complain about.


The Sport with black varnished nostrils looks much more successful than a dull Urban. Xenon optics with branded diode eyes - an additional option. In base 1, the series is equipped with ordinary halogen headlights with traditional dimensions.

Under the hood of the test BMW 1 Series, a modernized 2.0-liter diesel diesel with a company Twin Scroll is installed with a 184-hp turbine. and the maximum torque of 380 nm. For an additional payment of a pair to the motor, an optional 8-speed (!) Automatic gearbox ZF is offered, which is equipped with the entire modern model range of BMW from a new three-three to the flagship 7 Series.


Due to the increase in the wheelbase, the space in the cabin also increased. Now you can sit behind, without resting your knees in the back of the front chair.

A flat characteristic of the engine and its coordinated work with automata provide a penny with a satisfied powerful acceleration up to 120 km/h. Moreover, the Bavarian hechtbek shoots equally well both from the place and from the move. Excessive traction can be judged by a blinking bulb of the stabilization system, which signals an attempt to slip the rear wheels when pressed on the floor, even when the speedometer arrow is selected by 80 km/h. It is a pity that the motor is so loud, and they didn’t look at the sound insulation in Munich. Diesel hut is clearly audible not only on the street, but also in the cabin.


So far, only three engines are available for the BMW 1 Series in Russia: two 1.6 -liter gasoline with a capacity of 136 and 170 hp. and 184-horsepower diesel. All motors are equipped with a branded Twin Scroll turbocharger.

The machine operates quickly and smoothly. For frisky there is a sports regime, and for independent manual controls on the steering wheel. Moreover, the manual mode is truly honest, even at maximum speeds, the transmission itself does not switch upward.

As befits all modern BMW, a new one stalls on traffic lights, uses braking energy and saves energy when Eco Pro mode is turned on. If I turned off the start/stop system so as not to annoy in traffic jams, then by pressing the Eco Pro key to observe the countdown of saved kilometers.


The volume of the trunk increased to 360 liters. For a surcharge, a mesh is offered for securing the cargo. There is only a niche for trifles under the floor, all BMWs are still equipped with Run Flat tires.

The new BMW 1 Series is based on the platform from the previous model, the suspension is also the same: in front, borrowed from the 5th series of MacPherson, and a multi -link is in the back like a three -piece.

Heifbeck is still controlled by juicy, in Bavarian. The increased mass and dimensions made 1 series a little more comfortable, but did not take the sharpness of the steering wheel and the density of the chassis. In the bend, the car pleases with good feedback and an adequate effort on the steering wheel. The rolls are minimal, the trajectory is clearly drawn. And the new unit became more stable on the straight line and scribbles less in the ruts of the asphalt. But there is and what to complain about. With a straightforward movement and in small turns, the steering wheel lacks information content. I sin on the optional Variable Sport Steering system that changes the gear ratio of the steering.

In addition, the test penny was equipped with the optional electronic administrators of Tenneco, which allow you to control the nature of the chassis. In the comfort mode, the suspension blossoms, smoothing small irregularities and joints of asphalt. By pressing the sport, the shock absorbers tan, jumps the tachometer arrow, an additional force on the steering wheel appears. Now BMW provokes a sensitive gas pedal and the absence of rolls. Challenge accepted. The first turn is almost without roll, then a small ligament, the hashbek willingly transferred from the turn to the turn and now the long -awaited line where the potential of the turbodiesel is revealed here is such a penny to my liking.


The chubby bagel of the steering wheel is pleasantly in the hands and is equipped with convenient audio control keys. The dashboard with traditional amber backlight is perfectly read. An 8-speed ZF automatic transmission with an electronic lever is offered as an option. To the left of the transmission selector are the control keys for the adaptive suspension. All modes are clearly displayed on a large central display.

The price of the BMW 120D diesel line Sport starts from 1 195,000 rubles. There is already an electric packet, air conditioning, an audio system, a color 6.5-inch screen, a 16-inch alloy wheels and fog. The cost of a test penny with an adaptive chassis, navigation, a leather salon, hatch and a mass of other options with more than passes a mark of 1.5 million expensive? May be. But in my opinion, the only rear-wheel drive layout in the class, an excellent 8-speed transmission, a painful diesel and, perhaps, the best chassis in the classroom is worth it. What can I say, an isolated case!
